All the great cultures in history actual have shitty societies full of degenerates, but they simply project power and nobility into the rest of the world, and then watch as all of the smartest people from the neighboring countries gather there looking for the imaginary high society that never existed. Hating ones one country and language is a symptom of denial.

Because there's plenty to hate. The Irish suffered for 800 years and had their culture taken completely away from them. All they have left to differentiate them from the English is Catholicism, sport and their language, which fell into disuse long ago.
The Irish also have a genuine nastiness hidden under the surface.
