Hi DiPhi. Big Yud's a charlatan who genuinely thinks he has something to contribute. I feel bad for the guy. His Harry Potter fanfic is over half a million words long. His autobiography is absolutely hilarious in parts and then kinda sad in others. It's whatever. Anyone who unironically calls themselves a rationalist needs to take a long hard look at Big Yud's shit, as much of it as they can stomach, and then think if that's who they want to be their leader

His lesswrong series are decent from what I've read, though he spends too much time (imo) responding to all the dumb preconceptions many americans on the internet have about science of knowledge.
Reading him is a good way to keep yourself thinking, but anybody who really has spent time thinling about what contemporary science is shouldn't be surprised by most of what he says.
Also his attempt at defining the behavior of a superintelligence through bayesian statistics seems extremely premature, if interesting.

Not sure if that is a good thing, but I am fascinated with his history as well as its relation to the history of the internet. I wonder if there is any place left that can produce someone like him.
