I think it’s disgusting how nationalism is often conflated with white supremacy or anything else nefarious. Many of the most beautiful poets and artists have been nationalists. The most farcical thing about this whole situation is how capitalism has pitted people of every imaginable demographic on earth at war with each other without them even realising it.

This results in genuinely good humanitarian developments that could combat capitalism being co-opted by the system in order to make watered down versions of these ideologies that ultimately serve the powerful in the end. Nationalism becomes the alt-right to serve as a boogeyman when convenient, feminism becomes a means of turning women into good consumers rather than actually empowering them, Marxism gets conflated with neoliberalism. I could go on.

We live in an age where corporations rather than governments run the world (Disney is arguably more powerful than most world nations for example), and have figured out a way to make people feel like they're resisting something, no matter where on the political spectrum they lie, without fundamentally attacking the system.

If you ever wonder why it feels like all the humanity in the world has disappeared, that's why. Because humanity has been quantified into a predictable consumer outcome.

A big redpill for me was this 60s or 70s DEFA film I watched in college. It was about a single mother having an affair with a low ranking party member. He hated his wife and his wife was a whore. There was a big scene where they got high and hallucinated fucking surrounded by all of the woman's dead relatives. Lots of great stuff about dissolving class differences even in socialist societies, motherhood, and love. Instead of talking about this though we got readings on whether or not the film was worthy of being called feminist.
