I thought about that one too, great book, but it's pure fantasy. I know it shows a lot of real themes through metaphors and the animals themselves, but in the end it's not depicting the daily life of animals, which is what OP is looking for (I guess(?)).

Anyone else read the Poppy series by Avi when they were a kid?
I assume that the author was a fan of fantasy to begin with, and one day while watching a herd of rabbits he realized that from their point of view they live in a world of monsters and magic, and that there was an interesting book in that.
