Anyway, I can see an argument to be made that something like this would be considered a form of grooming. If, for instance, someone had surgery to obscure a facial scar, would we consider it a sign of vanity?

Furthermore although I disagree with some of his statements, I have yet to find any of them egregious to the extent that I no longer "like" him. Does that satisfy your curiosity?

His ideas are wrong because they just are, and it's really simple to dismantle them. His success is vastly due to the fact he chooses weak audiences (his students, on which he has a power relationship with, and a clueless youth grown with an absent father figure), and weak opponents.

I think he isn't even a good therapist. I came to know about JP because I stumbled on some videos on him talking about depression, before he became a topic of discussion on Yea Forums. Despite he and his family has a long history of depression, he always seemed utterly clueless about the topic. I don't even mean a honest cluelessness. He's just "I took my meds duh", and literally nothing else. Being a psychotherapist with philosophical aspirations, and being a patient himself, this was utterly disappointing to me and a huge red flag.

If those people have a specific already existent problem that beef is uniquely tailored to help then of course it will help but beef is also known to be one of the most inflammatory and carcinogenic meats and for the average person without that specific problem it would almost certainly cause way more harm than benefits and would significantly raise the risk of heart disease and cancer. I don't know if Peterson has been promoting it as good for the average person, but if he has that's irresponsible of him.

I think he's genuinely just trying to do the best he can, but he's shortsighted in some ways. I think fame might be fucking with him to an extent as well. He's an imperfect individual, he has flaws, big surprise. Just because he himself has depression problems doesn't imply that his methods are inherently flawed. He can still help others, that Nietzsche quote about freeing others from chains but not yourself or whatever.
