>it's another dean martin pretends to be hammered episode
Carson sucked ass. 80's Letterman is the Gold standard.
You will never remember seeing Carson raiding the set of CPO Sharkey
Seeing pussy comics like Letterman and Conan get eternally BTFO by zero-fucks Leno will never cease make me smile.
Youngsters these days won't know who any of these people were:
(You)
>Zoomer
Letterman was a whiny faggot
>ywn be in a carson thread after rodney dangerfield came on
it hurts, bros
youtube.com
It's now one of his most famous Carnac jokes, but I remember seeing it when it was first broadcast:
Ya, that was a great segment. Carson was always good when you had any of the following on:
> Rodney Dangerfield
> Don Rickles
> Burt Reynolds
Did you ever catch his dragnet bit with Jack Webb?
>ywn be in a Johnny Carson thread when Don Rickles comes on
They had great fucking chemistry.
No. Take it from a boomer who was there, Letterman tried to be a more laid back, 'Everyman' style Carson but no one respected him for it. Carson is and will always be the standard, he created what everyone has been trying to copy and capture since. Not to mention he wasn't political like every late night host is now. His jokes about political happenings were rare, and if he did joke on them they were always extremely light hearted and in excellent taste.

Johnny never fucked a head writer like this.
>not political
>literally had the second most rightwing president of all time on as a guest on dozens of occasions
JOHNNY NEVER HAD A GUEST LIKE THIS
youtube.com
And then there was the time that Uri Geller, a man who had supposed psychic powers, made the mistake of going on Carson's show.
Carson, a pretty good magician himself was ready, and devises a simple series of tests Geller couldn't fake.
And, unlike any other guest he'd had, Carson didn't thrown him a lifeline. He just let him hang out in the wind.
Johnny never featured based as all fuck Bro Theodore like this.

KINO of the highest order
Paul was deep comedy.
Presidents were always on Carson, regardless of political affiliation. They're the president for gods sake, of course you're going to book them as much as possible. Carter was on Carter all the time during his presidency, and Carter was maybe the most left wing president ever
Johnny never had King shit Chris Elliot to fuck around with. BANANERS
The point though was that carson himself was never political. Even when presidents were on the topics tended to stick to every day matters and whimsical stories, not politics. The opposite is true today
On Carson*
But he never had Nixon saying "sock it to me" with that out of place inflection:
Johnny never birthed Howard Stern.
Johnny never had Crispin almost kill him.
Johnny never had the balls to go toe to toe with Sandra Bernhardt
Johnny never almost fucked Madonna
Johnny never made Norm cry.
THE LIST GOES ON
Johnny never created Teri Garr out of this air.
Johnny never exposed Joaquin for the cult PTSD child he is
Johnny never gave Emo Philips the spotlight
wat? early letterman was just non sequitur abstract surrealism weirdo nyc and it was fun and completely different from carson in every way
he reinvented late night and it became a brand that lost its edge and returned to carson-esque milquetoast
and it was trash
Carson actually had interesting guests, especially in the 1970s
Where do you live? You lie about shit your dad told you & I want to visit. We get drunk & watch old Letterman clips on Youtube.
This. Carson was great but Dave brought something new and refreshing that still hasn't been recaptured since.
Then explain
>Johnny never birthed Howard Stern.
>Johnny never had Crispin almost kill him.
>Johnny never had the balls to go toe to toe with Sandra Bernhardt
>Johnny never almost fucked Madonna
>Johnny never made Norm cry.
>non sequitur abstract surrealism weirdo nyc
Yeah, that's what I meant when I said he tried to be this Everyman comic and no one took him seriously for it. No adult mind did, anyway. He was a poor interviewer as well, very awkward and never commanded the attention of the audience while at the same time leaving the floor to his guest. Carson was a master at this in every way
Moments lost in time.
>hasn't been recaptured since
If we're going to go there, original Conan took what Letterman did and just did it better in every way
Letterman's best attribute was giving no fucks, where do you get this stuff. He was the asshole after Jerry Lewis gave up the mantle.
Jon Glaser is a bad ass, but nope.
GEAR....HEYUMPH
>not giving a fuck
You're confusing that with just being shitty at his job, which he was. I've already laid it all out there for you and on some level don't disagree with what you're saying, we're just saying it in different ways.
Go back & watch the shows. He was going to find a way onto television. Late night be damned.
THESE FUCKING ZOOMERS WITH THIER OPINION ON SHIT THEY NEVER WATCHED
Carson is boring af, nuff said.
Go to bed Zoomer
Go watch two gay men in underwear, Joe Rogen.
>Lettermanfags ruin the thread by posting 3 hour videos that nobody will watch
Eat shit & die. Your hero was nothing. A social construct. At least Steve Allen was funny.
BASED RODNEY IS ON TONIGHT FELLAS
I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE ENOUGH PARLIAMENTS AND A COUPLE OF REFRIGERATED BEVERAGES
There's a lot of threads you will never lurk here

You will never lurk a Disney Princess movie thread with legit discussion, and that isn't 98% about fapping to the princesses
>Joe Rogen
We like Jo Rogen. Jo Rogen is the new Yea Forums approved Red Letter Media. Jo Rogen is kino, and based.
We had a "Post your YouTube Recommendations" thread that got deleted, and every single screencap posted had a Jo Rogen video on it.
I like Joe Rogan too. What's your point?
You can catch Rich Little at the Tropicana this weekend. It's like the 70's never ended.
You don't find it just a little odd that everyone on Yea Forums does?
I'm not implying that hes being shilled here, but I don't even watch his stuff or google him, and his videos still end up in my YouTube recommendations just by lurking here.
He's a secretly great interviewer if but for one trait, no agenda. He let's the interviewee do their thing. Unless the topic comes to voracious wild animals. Then all bets are off.
It's based on the other videos you watch. The stuff you like probably overlaps with a lot of other Rogan listeners. Wouldn't be surprised if it pops up for anyone the algo thinks is a 18-40 year old dude anyway.
Gay
i low key think letterman is a creep and puts people on edge which makes them act crazy
That's the point. That's why it's actually interesting. That & the zaniness.
How old?
