This is my favorite film. How shit is my taste? Or do y'all like it?
This is my favorite film. How shit is my taste? Or do y'all like it?
taste is subjective so i can't speak on if it's shit or not :^]
Good film
Fine film, but it's entry level so it kind of just makes you look and sound like an intro to film dweeb.
oof... gigayikes...
Entry level? I know what that means, but not sure how its applied here
It’s great. My favourite Hoffman kino is Kramer vs. Kramer.
I think The Graduate fell off the entry level list. Don’t really see people talk too much about it.
Good movie but your taste is mediocre
Was he supposed to be autistic?
Good, not favorite worthy
so corny
Am I the only one who thought the second half of The Graduate was mostly dull as fuck?
Whys that?
When I was in high school I was a depressed faggot. My faggot therapist was constantly trying to get me to watch this movie, like it would be some kind of awakening for me. Every session he'd ask if I'd seen it yet. I finally watched it years later and realized he was a weird jewy loser and I was a big pussy, and the movie is not that great
Because you could do better. You clearly have a lot more films to explore and you should enjoy that experience. I like The Graduate, but it's definitely not the most entertaining/best shot/rewatchable/ or most thought provoking movie I've seen. But that's just me.
Nice fucking numbers btw
weak third act
P L A S T I C S
It was so ahead of its time
It really feels like a late 70's movie but is a decade older. Stylistically it is excellent, takes all the good parts of the French new wave and gives them a blast of Californian sunshine and American exceptionalism. Best soundtrack too.
my jew therapist ('psychologist') was female. she had me watch Revenge Of The Nerds.
Jews shouldn't do therapy; they should stick to curing polio and making nuclear bombs.
It's OK, I guess.
This. It has a very unique vibe and the comedy still holds up really well.
>Jews
>Giving mental health advice
One word
Plastics
It's not plebeian genreshit.
It's not made in the last 30 years.
Your taste is already by default, better than Yea Forums's.
I never understood the bittersweet tone that the ending took. Elaine ran away from her horrible cheating mother. Ben finally gets with Elaine, a woman he has real affection for.
Why is it all of a sudden "heh, didn't see that sad ending coming did ya?"
One of the best flicks ever made.
Because life is suffering
The Vietnam war
I mean that's just general but the movie doesn't really have a nihilistic tone to it. Elaine's entire arc is confronting the life she's being forced into. It also definitely doesn't make sense for Ben to suddenly feel sad because he has no reason to be.
Don't listen to brainlets who say shit like "y is for babies" or "x is for plebs". A movie is either good or isn't. Either it endures as art or is forgotten as consumerist fare. The Graduate is widely considered a classic and millennials probably haven't seen it.
>ywn destroy some girl from High School's entire family in one summer
Expectations subverted
Came here for this
It isn't sad, really. It's more "Well, that was an incredibly impulsive thing we did. What now?"
Ben isnt sad, just processing what hes done and what will come. Throughout the movie he has no plan for his future, ans that never changed. As for elaine, she just ran away with a dude who fucked her mom because it was romantic. She did feel a connection, but couldnt get past the past.
He shows up to the wedding. Shes already emotional cause its her fucking wedding, and here he is playing prince charming saving the princess. And as soon as the high wears off, she becomes more self aware.
Ben is sort of in the same boat. Hes chasing happiness, thinks hes found it in her, finally gets her and what? No magical flow of ecstasy, no rainbows. Hes realizing not that hes made a mistake, but realizing shes not a miracle cure, his feelings are still there
Thats how i took it. However, I interpret it differently everytime. One of the many reasons its so damn good
I mean his feelings of depression are still there
Sry for blog post but bumping for thoughts
It's not relevant to the current generation
It is to tons of preps but nowadays they’re tryhard faggots with white guilt so they like to pretend they relate to gangsters
Somewhat right but silly generalization
I'm 26 and very much so related to it, but youre half right. My little sister by 2 years watched it. She thought it was funny, laughed out loud even, but literally said at the end of the movie "but i dont get why it was made."
>No magical flow of ecstasy
Well I mean they only tell us that WITH the scene
What do you mean? Its something you learn in life. There is no one solution, no one trick to solve everything, which is what he thought. Hes tunnel visioned
Bump
>y'all
go away leftist faggot
It was my favorite film in high school and I still love it. I suspect that you're obsessing over a girl and watching it to cope. One of the all time great endings.
I enjoyed the music more than the movie.
why does he look 4ft 7 inches tall in that photo?
Pretty shit taste
See:
^This
I watched the commentary with Hoffman and Ross and you could tell that Dustin had a huge crush on her during the filming and she wasn't interested at all. It was pretty funny.
No girl, but I'm really curious why youd think that. The film did go into a girl chase eventually, but its never what it was about. Genuinely wanna know about the girl thing?
It's a fucking terrible movie.
Attacks marriage, revels in promiscuous sex and infidelity. People in the 60's only liked it because it was so edgy for the time. Basically like porn for them.
The story doesn't go anywhere, the soundtrack doesn't fit. Overall, a dull outing.
You must be a boomer.
5/10.
I watched this in my intro to film class
Just one word user: plastics.
I was projecting
based
26
Get off your holier than thou high horse faggot, god isnt listening
I totally forgot the Mayor from Jaws was Mr. Robinson.
I just saw it for the first time a few weeks ago. It was pretty good and I see why it's a classic. Makes me wish I could have an affair with some milf
Based and good goy pilled
No shame user. A flick, but a damn good one. I won't take it off my top ten list until I'm in my 40s and hate anything with young people.
Get some taste Millennial.
26 ya fucking nerd.
Make sure you eat that bread and wine, that'll help you get into heaven
Even tho ur mean to people.
Oh wait
fuck you dude I'm from Texas
I don't go to church, but I do believe in god and tradition. Does me criticizing your favorite boring movie really count for being mean, hmm? You must be a millennial because you associate media with your personality and resort to ad homonym when said media is attacked. You better start believing in a divine creator and the beauty of nature because you're believing in something and it isn't helping you.
Wait im OP you fuck
And im from NC
Respect to my y'all brethren
You werent mean by attacking the movie, you called me a name and dismissed my opinion. Jesus wouldnt do that. Maybe you should go to church
I didn't call you name though. You called me a faggot and a nerd and yet I did not retaliate as such. I know you're making an ironic point but it didn't even land, aha.
>believe in tradition
Ya me too we rip the heart out of pretty ladies, eat their hearts and wear their skin. Stay strong my friend!
Movie is fucking terrible, felt like a student film, I’ve took shits more entertaining
>get some taste millennial
Are you fucking dense bra?
>you called me a name and dismissed my opinion
>Jesus wouldn't do that
Umm yeah, he would. And did. Most of the Gospels are him doing exactly that, actually. Go read John in particular.
>Equating animalistic barbarianism to civilized tradition
You probably didn't pay attention at all in school, did you?
>what is context the post
Does that really count as mean name calling to you?
Man, your parents should've beaten you. Don't worry, someone else will one day.
So they werent followinf tradition? Thanks for cementing my point barbarian
Good argument. Now please, please, please try not to get AIDS in the next 30 days. I know it will be hard for you.
That has no bearing on your attempt at sarcasm. Good humor is based on truth and what you said wasn't true, even sarcastically speaking
>calling someone a name
>your parents shouldve beaten you
Wtf is wrong with you
You're confused. Maybe one day you'll understand
Was a good flick. Not a movie tho.
Humor? I was speaking logically. Maybe google the word, it might help
how exactly were you speaking logically?
Saying I'm confused isn't an argument
You told me to reference an old ass book because it has some revelance to what we were speaking of.
I said context is important
How is this not clear?
