I buzz my hair with a 1&1/2 inch guard top front, 1 & 1/4 inch guard top back (had to special order both guards), 1 inch on the sides and back, 7/8s inch halfway up the back of my skull, over my ears and straight towards my eyes. I do my sideburns at half an inch from the top of my ears straight towards my eyes and down, then I take the guard off and line them up.
I used to use a piece of packing tape to get a perfect lineup in the back, but I prefer a more natural look these days and just buzz off the excess neck hair and then shave it. Looks like a completely basic, normal haircut and nobody can tell the difference.
