My feelings on her actually flip flopped a bit while going through the show. Curious to see how I feel about her after a rewatch.

Skeksis are supposed to have a mixture of masculine and feminine traits, but most people assume they're all male.

I like gelflings, not as entertaining to watch as skeks, but I like the species. I know some people think they're too naive and therefore retarded, but it's a fantasy trope I like (naive, peaceful, innocent species in close relation with nature) and it works because the skeks are so depraved and evil and don't do much to hide it. You WOULD have to be somewhat of an idiot to trust these things, let alone worship them and believe they were benevolent and wise, but gelfs don't seem to be able to really detect evil or ugliness. Even racism is a concept skeksis introduced to them.

The skeksis are hermaphrodites. Only one uses she/her pronouns, and she hasn't shown up in the show yet

The characters are fine although the puppets themselves aren't quite as animated/entertaining to watch as the Skeksis, for obvious reasons.
Maybe Deet is an exception in that she seems more expressive to me, although I reckon it might be because she looks more alien than the other gelfling so kind of skips over the whole uncanny valley thing.

Same here. I actually personally preferred the gelfling scenes for all the worldbuilding they added to Thra, plus the overall dynamic of the main cast was really fun to watch. I don't mind the later additions, but having the obvious cultural parallels in the show is a bit more boring than it could have been.

The entirety of the gelfling actions right after the battle of Stone-in-Wood feels like bad writing just to justify why the Skeks are still alive by the movie to me. You can say it's "in-character" or whatever but none of it makes any actual fucking sense. Especially when they went up against the Arathim the first time and did fine.

id have to rewatch to discuss the earlier episodes properly, but the freshest is the ending. deet essentially causing skeksis retreat alone, yet everyone congratulating rian. rian refusing to kill an enemy he knows intends to kill all gelfling (yet the stonewoods previously seeming to have no problem killing arachnids) and this decision causing no disagreement. adjacent to this is the cheap use of fara to resolve seladons betrayal and inconsistent feats of combat in general

Other Gelfling clans only seem to ostracize Grottans (because they live in a cave and sodomize each other) since they don't have a problem with interacting each other.

I'm hoping that skekUng is revealed to be friends with skekVar, so finding out that not only is skekVar dead but skekSil was the last person to see him alive really sets him off.

What I mean is that it's easy to empathize or imagine the feeling of being tossed into a fiery pit or being beaten with a metal club. It's harder for a viewer to imagine their essence being drained and turning into nothing. The Gruenak deaths were visceral.

I enjoyed it as well and was also surprised by Hup apparently matching two gelfling head on in physical combat since I thought podlings were leagues below them. A gap similar to skeksis and gelfling. His previous quick emotional recovery seemed at odds with what I assumed would be a character exceeding the initial lowly expectations podlings seem to have, but I must concede there aren't enough similar scenes to compare it with to lean what baseline podling is.
