Trick question. It isn't.

The villain isn't the alien, it's the jew.

I don't think it is, but it has wittier writing, a couple quotable lines, ultra distinct characters and archetypes, and big "epic" moments. Alien is a much more subdued film and Aliens is more upfront and bombastic, which I think general audiences are more attracted to. They're both good films, but they better suit different audiences.

Because the perfect action movie, whereas Alien isn't the perfect horror movie.

I will fucking murder you faggot!

It needed an L4D style game.
Still needs one.

Alien: sci fi horror movie
Aliens: dumb 80s action popcorn flick

Only to ustaters that like everything to be turned into gi joe shit, with bad words and explosions.

it's not

I love both and prefer aliens because it's just a better bigger movie
Same with t2

The old AvP2 game by Monolith was absolutely fantastic and the asymmetrical multiplayer was fun as fuck, waaaaay before its time where you have shitty games like Evolve struggling with the concept.

I don't like Aliens because of the setup.

Alien:
>Space tug transporting refinery receives distress signal, goes to investigate, shit hits the fan.

It's believable.

Aliens:
>Lose contact with entire colony
>Send like 15 people to investigate
>On a space warship that can carry thousands

I never understood that. Now, I know the real life reason was budget. Had they had all the money in the world I'm sure it would have been much more intense, more marines, more combat, etc.

But if it's only going to be like 15 people, why not scale it all back a bit? Why send them on such a huge and presumably indispensable warship?

Doesn't losing a colony merit a larger response than sending 15 people? Why wasn't there a contingent of disaster relief personnel, doctors, medics? What if it wasn't aliens, what if it was a natural disaster?

The more you think about Alien the better it gets. The more you think about Aliens the worse it gets.

Why would future marines have to carry such a large and unyielding weapon. I like the pulse rifle but that MG thing was an monstrosity and a poor design

It was a shit movie and everyone has always thought that. Everything about it was done better in the first one, and nothing about it stands out visually or from a story standpoint. It's a bland, generic slasher film with uninteresting, unrelatable characters that are completely forgettable compared to the OG and Aliens.

Maybe the navy/marines seriousness overstretched and have been subject to cutbacks,
just how "hnuge" is the sulcua anywya ?

firgave spelling i am om spectrum

Attached: 1087-1.jpg (690x458, 90K)

The Sulaco was coming back from another area and was rerouted at the last possible second. All they had was a skeleton crew they left the rest where they dropped them off. It was supposed to be a "bug hunt" where no one would get hurt. Weyland Yutani intentionally miscommunicated with the marines.

The Sulaco is very large but they mention they were supposed to be heading back from somewhere. Hudson only had 4 weeks left on his enlistment contract.

The USS Sulaco is a Conestoga class troop transport ship and it's 385 meters long. It can carry 90 crew + 2000 troops.

90 crew and passengers , 8 drop-ships according to wiki its big but not massive or huge essential a company sized transport

Agreed. And Aliens was the weakest..great when I was a kid and yeah looks pretty etc but its aged horribly.

>>Space tug transporting refinery receives distress signal, goes to investigate, shit hits the fan.
And then somehow Weyland knew all along and sent Ash with the purpose of getting home a sample. I always hated that part. It would have been so much better if they just kept it simple.

What if i enjoy both?

LV426 is 39 light years from earth and Sulaco weas speed of .74 light years/day so it can travel to Earth to LV426 in 52 days.

No

Iirc they didn't know, but ash was programmed to protect anything valuable to the company and put it together himself that itd be valuable. Iirc it was protocols built into him and Mothr that no one knew about.

>Ripley is on Earth at the beginning of the film
>Sulaco was coming from an other area
>jump cut to Ripley waking up on Sulaco
And it still doesn't explain why they wouldn't leave somebody to observe the situation from orbit.

What timeline
How long was newt alone?
How long till contact lost with colony before marines sent?
Was there a daily radio check ?
How fast where comms between hadleys hope and earth?

No it didn't. You just became a capeshitter and stopped liking good movies

You have it backwards, unless that is part of some devilish meta-trickery in which case consider me bamboozled.

I don't recall that at all but I want to believe

>the only reasonable opinion
Then you probably aren't a zoomer and/or an attention seeking contrarian

It's not, one is a horror, one is action - not comparable.

Nobody here likes capeshit dude

Understrength ,arrogance , LT Gormans incompetence and lack of experience, fiath in the AI of Sulcao , They lost botht the dropship and comms pn APC simulatenoues,

I wonder what fucking a girl like this would be like.

Would she be completely dominate or would she relax and let you take over as a way to escape the cold hard reality of the marine core

Dangerously based

Why can't you enjoy different films equally you autistic minge?

She only fucks men strong enough to dominate her and she likes it the rougher the better.

apparently not

you're absolutely correct, anyone who disagrees is a faggot

Pic related, is why. It has stronk-yet likeable characters who aren't (usually) ball busters-everyone is treated equally. It's realistic, yet fantastic and the whole way it's executed is intense and entertaining as fuck. Aliens is the best Alien film and if you didn't already know that may God have mercy on your soul.

"two weeks to get an answer form earth"
So speed of comms is about 3 light years a day.
So assuming daily ping goes down.
14 days + 7 days to organised rescue + 52 to travel , 73 days between comms lost and Sulaco arrive at LV426.

>dogfart sign
lmao

She do anything you want for the green card

Dude thats a man , LOL

Thats was Hicks, not Hudson

two weeks is around trip for comms so speed of comms is 6 light days per day. so that cuts 7 days from youe estimates.

Hicks, played by America’s sweetheart Michael Biehn

Based as all hell

This thread has a lot of obvious samefagging on the "le Aliens is shit, reeeeeee" side

The biggest brainlet opinion I’ve ever seen, the only people who espouse this shit are trying to get patriciancred by being a gagging contrarian. The first Alien doesn’t show up for an hour into the movie, literally longer than the first one.

The final redpill is that Alien 4 is the best out of all the alien movies.

Same could be said about the other camp too.

The ONLY reason people say this is because Alien3 is an unusually punishing movie, and they think it makes them look Adult to like muh sad and important Alien sequel. It’s still a shit movie, and liking it because of some perceived “grittiness” ironically makes you more childish than the Aliens fanboys you feel so clever for ridiculing.

I imagine budget would've also been the in-universe reason - corporations are always looking at profit profit margins. And that's a LOT of risk pay and overtime you're looking at so let's send a skeleton crew.

i think it could have been supreme, but it got cut so many times it went to shit

But the other side has been the outstanding opinion since Aliens was released.

The other camp is "A&As are both good movies" (a non autistic opinion)
Where is their samefagging?

Both movies are good. The rest is shit.

Wrong.

Fun facts!
- This actress isn't hispanic. She's in brownface.
- She's in brownface because she thought she was auditioning for a movie about illegal immigrants, not literal aliens. That's where the immigration joke in the moive comes from.
- She runs a big titty bra business now.

Alien was a creepy space horror film. In the years since, its story has become so entrenched as a classic that there are countless rip-offs and films heavily inspired by it. So it feels a bit dated in that regard now.
Aliens is just a really fun action film that does it better than 99% of similar films.

Her business’ motto is “the alphabet starts with D”, no joke

Yeah, I should have specified, the opinion I was talking about was “Alien and Aliens are both great, genre-defining Sci-fi horror and Sci-fi action movies respectively”, which is where 99% of people who don’t get high on their own farts lie.

No, it was Hudson

Alien is a generic slasher-flick in space that aged like doghsit
Aliens is pure action-survival kino and timeless

Even Fincher thinks it's a pile of shit.

truth

That's why it's fun

The weak stuff in Alien is the generic slasher is space, the first act is cosmic horror kino (ignoring Prometheus anyway) and the last bit with Ripley alone with the alien is also great. The thing that makes Alien stand out is the execution, it’s a beautiful looking movie, and the believable performances from the cast elevate what should be a pretty generic slasher movie. I definitely think it holds up.

Screw Aliens. I can't stand that stereotypical macho soldier lingo. It is so damn cringe. None of the actors in that pisser of a movie can pull it off.

Stay Frosty user, and alert.

My main problem with aliens is that the all terrain vehicle they use has about six inches of space between the bottom and the ground on a planet/moon covered in craters, it drives me into screaming fits of rage anytime I see it on screen knowing it would make it 5 feet out the door without getting stuck AHHHHHHHHHH

Burke set the whole thing up in order to get a bare bones squad sent for a specimen retrieval. He also set the colonists up to get infected in the first place by sending Newt's parents to the crash sight. He wanted to get ahead of any official response so that he could get a significant deal out of the alien retrieval.

Ash replaced, very close to the departure, the typical science division higher that Dallas had worked with before. He was programmed from the start to capture and return anything found, which is why he let the crew back on board with the facehugger attached to Cane. It was set up from the start.

Ripley was on a space station after her escape craft was picked up by a salvage crew. She was never on earth in Aliens. She joined up on the Sulaco after agreeing to join Burke's expedition that he secretly put together. He chose Gorman, the Lt., based on his inexperience. It was all planned by Burke to get a chance at gaining power and wealth within the company.

Gateway Station orbits earth.

Attached: original.jpg (1020x768, 221K)

haha thanks, I didn't research before I posted.

anyone agree that the game gets kinda boring?

No one said it was an all terrain vehicle, and the terrain wrecked it very quickly anyway.

Because literally everyone knows about the facehugger/chesburster/xenomorph now so it's not scary and will never be scary again.
Trying to turn it into action was the best path for the franchise.
It's also blessed by great performances by Biehn, Henriksen, Paxton and Goldstein while Aliens just has bonus situation guy and the jizm robot.

was it a ruse?

It really isn't. It's a cheey mid-80s action movie and not even a good one. Alien is VASTLY superior in every regard.

Alien 3 is still a good movie, you cannot convince me otherwise

so you're saying that they're fucking retards who don't have rovers with adjustable suspension unlike the actual fucking moon rover and every other rover produced by mankind since

Cuz there's more going on in it.

I hate Cameron.
He turned Terminator and Alien into souless blockbusters

>He turned Terminator and Alien into souless blockbusters
He made Terminator, what the fuck are you on about?

Nvm lol.
Still Terminator 2 lost the grim atmosphere of the first 1, especially half way.

He still did it...

In general they were badly equipped on purpose, thanks to Burke.

Alien is timeless, aliens is dated af and cheesy

He's a hack that steals other people's ideas
He literally got sued for stealing it

One word: Paxton
One of the few celebrity deaths that made me sad

For all its failures, I will always applaud Alien 3 killing off Hicks and Newt. Leaving both of them alive was just Cameron pandering the audience.

It's just like terminator 1 vs 2. If you compare the two just realize you're comparing two different movie genres.

one of the most based pics I've ever seen

There was no reason to kill Newt, she survived alone for weeks and was the only reason Ripley fought to the bitter end.

Aliens is a dumb movie no matter how you look at it, but the marines banter is mega based. It's hard to find a movie that portrays so well a group of dudes (including Vasquez)

yeah, a bit.

I sometimes think about getting rich so I can have a theater to myself and rewatch a couple of movies from time to time (like i already do). Alien and Aliens are two of those, i watch them every year. But i want to watch them on a fucking big screen. Onions or based?

One underrated thing about alien is the goldsmith soundtrack. Horner work in Aliens ias like wtf is this.
Cameron should have asked Basil. Imagine the craziness with the imagery of geiger and basil music. Dude always had a hard on for fucking horner.

>He literally got sued for stealing it
have you watched the Harlan Ellison written episode of the Outer Limits that was the subject of that lawsuit? Because I have, and it's NOTHING like The Terminator. Stop talking out of your ass.

Aliens is amazing, but with a 10/10 soundtrack it would have been so much better. The snare drums are cool though

SO FUCKING BASED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outpost from avp had something like that but it wasn't nearly as fleshed out. The OG pc avp by rebellion, not the reboot by rebellion.

Alien 3 was ahead of its time and had the best ost. Prove me wrong. I dare ya motherfucker.

Alien 3 sucks balls, they killed Newt and Hicks

The wooden planet draft without Ripley would have been better, people would have equally shit on it for not including muh marines or muh Ripley but it'd be a cult classic at least.

This could be good bait but then again the Alien 3 fanatic could consider this 100% legit.

Kill yourself.
>Nvm lol.
No, is not "Nvm lol". You are a fucking retard that knows nothing.
Just shut up.

I watched Alien 3 yesterday, Brian Glover was 10/10, would listen to his creepy story in a pub on the moors again.

>they killed Newt and Hicks
Based, they were dragging the show down, especially Newt.

"Why, yes, I hate Alien 3. What made you guess?"

Attached: ameriburger.png (382x266, 200K)

I watched most of the Alien franchise for the first time recently, barring Alien: Resurrection, worth a watch anyone?

For me Aliens was the superior movie to Alien, I'll have to list one bias for this though which might effect my opinion, I read Starship Troopers only a few days before watching Aliens, the amount of inspiration that movie takes from the book is pretty considerable, basically all the Marine stuff, the vehicle drop onto the planet etc, their banter, I loved all of that stuff. I liked how the marines were clearly prepared to deal with some rough shit on their mission, bringing the kind of weaponry that they did.

Anyway there's just some really well done scenes in Aliens that makes it stand out for me, when they first enter the nest and all hell breaks loose yet you are restricted to seeing it from the video feed. One part of it has a marine firing off a shotgun blast off camera and you can hear the squeal of one of the xenos, could hear that it was practically only 10 feet away from the camera, that spooked the shit out of me. You just knew those marines were absolutely fucked. The turret scene as well was pretty nerve racking, for what was basically a full blown action movie it had some tense scenes like these where it felt like they could all be dead within a minute. Also loved how slow and methodical the 'get away from her you bitch' scene was, where the fight develops into a slugging match betwen Ripley and the Queen. Alien is great too but like others have said, they are such different movies. Aliens is one fine piece of kino though

Alien 3 is a bit hammy and the whole ending bit feels off, but not a bad movie by any means, probably best enjoyed while slightly drunk

Imagine defending such shitshow of a movie, even rejected by its own director, for the sake of being a contrarian.
The killing of the characters is not bad per se. Can be incredibly emotional if done well. But this is not what happen in A3. Is moot, pointless, anticlimatic, and adds nothing to the story. Is just a throaway reset.
You would understand this if you were an actual intelligent person and not a brainlet that wants to feel sophisticated being a contrarian.
You are laughable.

The thing with Burke setting it up has this make more sense, it wasn't even a full platoon that went in and the initial mission was briefed more as a recon (find out why colony comms went down) and if Ripley's story of the xenomorph was correct and the cause, to exterminate them. Though Ripley was getting gaslit and Burke took Gorman on as a green guy who worked more with the corp than the marines so if the xenos were real he could get them samples with less issue.
As Lt, Gorman could overrule the members of the platoon he was issued command over for this mission.
I counted the platoon being made up of 13 members and that includes Bishop in that number.
Don't know if in-universe they go into it in the expanded universe, though it was for sure barebones, one under-manned section and a command of a single Sergeant (Apone) and three corporals (Hicks, Ferro and Dietrich), which fell under Lt Gorman's command.
I guess it'd be overkill if it was a downed comms tower.

James, please

alien > alien 3 > alien resurrection > SHIT aliens

Few people, big ship is a staple of the setting.

No dipshit. Stop.
See

It suspends my disbelief that Newt had survived for two and a half months.
I know in an alien film with ftl and androids that's a stupid thing to call into question, though I still think she'd never survive that long.

But, she has a vagina....

so does james cameron have an impregnation fetish or what? I think he does.

It's my only Big Problem with Aliens, that I love albeit I consider slightly inferior to Alien.
In Alien BTW my problem is how fast the xeno grows. A time cut and a comment on food missing would have been enough.

You fucking retard. That comes from movie 1 and is part of the basic horror theme, its premise.
Jesus Christ this board.

its ok james, you're among friends here.

The kids of the colony used to play in the ventilation system (they're scolded for that at the beginning), she knows the base very well. And when Ripley catches her she's in some basement filled with food wrapping and stuff.

No man for real.
You are incredibly stupid. And "it's a joke" does not work because in case you should have written "Scott".
It's like asking "It's Gettysburg (1993)somewhat related to the American Civil War?".
This is how fucking stupid you are.

Right.

Attached: alien_brett.jpg (431x330, 34K)

She's just a Mary Sue, dude

No because the character is written especially to survive in the base.

The extended universe isn't that exact, but I think the novelization implied that Burke had pulled strings to get Gorman on the mission.

The thing with the novelizations and comics is that there doesn't seem to be a solid lore for how much of Xenomorphs have been captured or studied. Sometimes WeyYu has like massive breeding programs for them with multiple queens, sometimes they are still hunting basic samples, which seems to be the case in the films.

One of the more recent and liked books, "Cold Forge", it was kinda implied that they have some undisclosed source for eggs butt they ain't terribly eager of giving them out. There was something about Burke pushing for a research program but can't remember if it was implied if this was before or after Ripley's testimony.

Attached: aliens attack view.jpg (2006x1070, 1M)

Why was she the only kid to survive then?

Man:I knew this crew, these seven people. They used to work well with with each other. Especially the Chief Engineer and the other technician guy, that was quite a bit older. They were all kind of raggedy and wild, and a bit weak on safety protocols. Also the Warrant Officer was very beautiful, you know, if you are into Tomboys, that is. And all together they turned everything into a kind of an adventure. And they liked that. Just an ordinary trip down to Thedus for raw ores was full of adventure. They were always laughing at stupid things, like say, a broken compressor. They laughed and they didn’t much care for anything else because all they wanted to do was work with each other.. But pretty soon they started to worry.

Woman : ‘Bout what?

Man : Money I guess. The Bonus Situation. Not knowing when the next cheque was coming in.

Woman : Yep. I know that feeling.

Man : So.. the Executive officer started to get kind of torn inside.

Woman: How do you mean?

Man: Well he was impregnated by an alien lifeform, that grew inside him.

Woman : I see.

Man : And the more time was passing , the crazier he got. Except now things got really crazy. They started seeing all kinds of things.

Woman: Like what?

Man: They started thinking that there was a grown up alien lifeform in the air conducts. Picking them up one by one...

alright man theres no need to get all defensive about it, people are into weirder shit.

Okay, I chuckled

She's a Mary Sue

Ripley was in that script though, the main brother monk does an exorcist on her at the end and pushes the chestburster out her mouth and it jumps into his throat so she can escape on her repaired EEV. Bit of a lame end if you ask me.
The real kino script was the prison space station escape film without Ripley in it. It was like Fortress 2 though set in the alien universe with some decent interesting characters.

why do people think ayyz are some nightmare fuel that want to slaughter everyone for no reason?

Charles Dance and the guy who played Dillon were great too.
The film did suffer having too many nameless bald cannon fodder in it though. For a near deserted planet they could have tightened cast up a bit and make characters look a little less like each other.
Some people's death scenes weren't even filmed, let alone cut on the editing room floor it was that bad for it.

Well, in Alien we can infer that Kane had the thing on him for some hours and we don't know how long after Kane got chestbursted that Brett encountered the xeno.
Ripley mentioned in Aliens it killed the crew in less than 24 hours which goes roughly with Scott's idea at one point of the xeno only having a life of 24 hours and then it dies leaving eggs behind, explaining why it acted so lethargic in the escape shuttle, as it was on it's way out anyway and settling down to die.
I can see how there'd be a fridge horror moment of not knowing how it could get so large so quickly, though it does fail as it's the one thing that sticks out we just can't explain properly to be believeable about it's life cycle.
Enhanced metabolism could go into it and I believe one early script had it break into the food locker and chow down, though I suppose it'd have added too much before the crew start getting picked off by it and it already shows up fairly late into the runtime considering.

Sure, a week makes sense, especially with the food wrappers, a fortnight or the 13/14 days I could believe, a month I start to feel wary on. Longer than that, it's plot armour.

A point of the film is that their technology fails them and their assumptions lead to their destruction. The APC being garbage-tier in performance on the mission is consistent with that.

If you want to try and bullshit something up, note that they drove the APC from the landing pad to the colony buildings and then to the power facility on paved or ground flat roads.
It actually failed because Ripley squashed an Alien and drove over a bunch of metallic debris, getting acid blood over an axle and scrap metal
in the wheel well.

Sure, the novels make sense if set not long after Aliens where they have programs in place.
If the corporation has a source on eggs and already experimenting though, it shakes Burke's reasoning to put so much on the line for samples though.
Unless he wanted his own source for income on his own program, though I'm not sure I'm fully onboard with that, as surely there'd be an easier way to corporate espionage steal eggs from safer sources than going down to the planet and putting himself in close proximity with an active hive.

Harlan was notoriously litigious, he'd sue over anything he could possibly lay claim to, and he'd keep going and never give up, people learned to pay him off rather than deal with his bullshit.
Which of course made him sue more people.

>Alien: Resurrection, worth a watch anyone?
Kind of, it's pretty dated as 90s and has the same vibe as the director's other movies. There's an equal amount of cool shit and WTF moments so it kind of balances out
That said, the ending imagery and designs are kind of ludicrous but very true to the artistic inspirations behind the franchise.

The wholes series is shit
Predator is a million times better

He might've realized the opportunity after he met Ripley, but it is possible the Company might've had samples at that time? Because they totally wouldn't tell that many people inside the company. But wouldn't make sense for the Alien 3's ending then either, unless they just wanted it for more varied strains or something.

Never realized the size of those milkers before. Damn.
