>Somehow the teacher starts talking about cape shit
>says the same rami Spider-Man movies are bad because there fomulaic, not like the marvel stuff
>At least 1/3rd of people I've met say there favourite film maker of all time is tarantino,
>Constant talks about how movies have a responsibility to be non-offenseive but still explore society
>Everybody wants to make fucking grandiose epics with mafia or rape for simple 5 min short films
>Cinematography class is just a shit show of 1 self taught amateur camera operator carrying a group.
I've made a huge mistake
Film School Idiot here
Learn the difference between they're/their/there before you talk down about anyone chump
sauce>?
Just keep going and learning despite them being idiots. At least you'll get an degree on something you like.
>At least 1/3rd of people I've met say there favourite film maker of all time is tarantino,
"When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, 'no, I went to films.'" - Quentin Tarantino
Maybe you should listen to other people instead of assuming you are better than everyone, that's what the "school" part is there for.
So if school tells you grass is blue, should you believe it without a second thought?
>>says the same rami Spider-Man movies are bad because there fomulaic, not like the marvel stuff
Wait, so did the teacher say MCU shit is better than Raimi Spiderman?
>says the same rami Spider-Man movies are bad because there fomulaic, not like the marvel stuff
They're coming for you, traveling from over there, after their sacred rainbow flag.
Is editing and scriptwriting as comfy as it seems?
I dont think im better than any of the students, i just disagree with some the teachers opinions on stuff (i don't sperg out about it or anything) and have noticed that a good chunk of students don't seem to have seen as many films as i would have expected.
Yes. The full argument was along the lines of "it hasn't aged well and follows a generic male hero story we've seen a thousand times" and continued with into the spiderverse being the best one.
>not skipping film school and just going to films instead
NGMI bro
>>At least 1/3rd of people I've met say there favourite film maker of all time is tarantino,
So these people are going to film school and their favorite filmmaker is someone who brags about not going to film school because he thinks it is a total waste of time?
False. This degree is unemployable.
Enjoy flipping burgers
>>says the same rami Spider-Man movies are bad because there fomulaic, not like the marvel stuff
You can argue that the formula is better balanced and refined in the Marvel Studios film, but you have to be a fucking moron to think it's not formulaic. I could even see arguing that they have a greater variety of formulas to create a more diverse selection of stories. Yet to argue that one is and one isn't formulaic is crazy.
Idk I think some of them are scared of saying who their real favourites are and are just throwing out a safe normalfag option to throw the sent off. Others just seem like they don't know the bame of enough directors to have a choice.
>BACK TO ZYKLON B?!
*the name of enough directors
Fuck
i don't like directors, i like movies
i don't like bands, i like songs (except CAKE, i like every one of their songs so i guess i like them)
Focus on learning the technical stuff. Don't let the Man tell you how to be creative
You sound like a handful tbqh
>you have to be a fucking moron to think it's not formulaic
You know damn well it's about women and niggers.
>says the same rami Spider-Man movies are bad because there fomulaic, not like the marvel stuff
Jesus fuck how does a film teacher bot recognise the marvel movies are formulaic as fuck
but i do like actors. i'll watch anything with jon hamm because he's cool
>Constant talks about how movies have a responsibility to be non-offenseive but still explore society
>Everybody wants to make fucking grandiose epics with mafia or rape for simple 5 min short films
This is too contradictory
While we're at it.
>scent
Fucking kill me
How about try discussing it?
you don't "discuss" facts, you circle jerk over them, like crime statistics.
Foolkiller
>send in the clowns
This. Their intellectual cowardice won't allow them to admit the truth. They'll say that Marvel films are less formulaic than Raimi while ignoring that every single one of them that tells an origin story follows precisely the same pattern, from Iron Man all the way through Captain Marvel.
Fucking based.
looks like comic kino is back on the menu
>marvel isn't formulaic
get out of there famm
this makes no fucking sense
comics are so dumb
Maybe you should transfer into an English class instead.
>it's formulaic because some movies have a beginning
Until you got to Captain Marvel, every single one of them followed variations of the same, remarkably linear narrative:
>MC riding high
>MC loses something
>MC comes to understand either why he lost it, or discovers something even better in its place
>MC riding high
Only Ant-Man varied from this even slightly, as in it, Lang is already in loser mode when we meet him. The only thing Captain Marvel does to break that up is tell the same story, but tell it non-linearly.
Most movies have this shit.
The man is a fool because he either doesn't recognize the power he's wielding is born of racism and bigotry, or he's dumb enough to think anyone would believe his lie, either way he's a fool not to be suffered.
That's my point, dumbass. Most movies *are* formulaic. To criticize one for it while pretending others aren't is the veritable height of hypocrisy and a textbook example of filter bias.
>t.fool
sucks to be you my film teacher shuts down any capeshit discussion immediately
