From my point of view none of the issues discussed within the show touched on actual transsexuals. There's a clear discourse going about the disconnect between mind and body, and we have at least one instance of a woman being stuck in a foreign body that also happens to be male. Doesn't mean she now tries to make it appear female, chop of its genitalia and feed it hormones, but of course her mind and experience still seeps through, especially in her interactions with the husband.
It's quite clever, if you think about it, since it managed to not make any political statements and literally just explored a futuristic setting quite matter-of-factly.
Shame this is all going to go for the second season and we'll get a full SJW vehicle, with ethnicity and diversity quotas instead of the top tier individual casting that made the first season so strong, transgender acceptance speeches and whatever the fuck the showrunners can fit with that.
