Careful now, Yea Forums hates literally every space movie and their respective directors beyond 2001.

the martian

You're a fucking pleb,

>moon
I tried it was too fucking boring and low budget how the fuck did it get 90 on RT

>i really liked them
whats it like to be stupid?

The Martian, in the sense that it is "realistic sci-fi".

Apollo 13, in the sense that it is, well, the only real space drama that has ever occured.

because it's well made and acted. sorry you're an idiot

Attached: moon_gerticon_cryingface.jpg (560x232, 38K)

The Europa Report is kind of slow, but I dug it. It's clearly made on a low budget, but still feels realistic.

>The Martian, in the sense that it is "realistic sci-fi".
I enjoyed it for what it is but it's not realistic at all.

the martian, self explanatory.

the film 'apollo 11' that released earlier this year is fucking outstanding, easily the best visual representation of the moon landing that has ever been produced. i wish i could see it in a theatre again, you can find it 1080p on various torrent sites, highly recommended.

the europa report is also good, but if you thought moon was too slow and low budget you probably won't enjoy it.

Gravity was pure kino in IMAX 3D

Passengers

>STRONG WOMYN CAPTAIN SAVES THE MAN
REALISTIC LMAO

THE MARTIAN IS ALSO THE MOST REDDIT OF THE CROP

Yeah it was pathetic. Not only they made her captain, but they also had her do the dangerous stuff which is stupid. If you're leading the mission you give orders, not execute them. But I guess women can do anything. Ridley Scott is the shadow of himself. 30 years ago he would have made movies like Ad Astra, but he kepps making reddit shlock

SHES A ROGUE STRONG WOMYN CAPTAIN WHO BENDS THE RULES CUS SHES INDEPENDENT AND DONT NEED NO MAN!
BUT SHE'LL TAKE MERCY TO SAVE JUST THIS ONE

i thought interstellar was garbage.

Thanks, I started watching and it seems pretty good.

2010: The Year We Make Contact

Ad Astra is very well filmed and scored. Brad Pitt gave a good performance. Pretty good "learning to let go" kino

>Liked Gravity
Well, even if you're not baiting, I will recommend you a personal favorite. Also watch Sunshine.

Attached: Vremya Pervykh.jpg (780x1170, 510K)

Europa Report was good but I hated the ending. Would def recommend it tho

Sunshine is an amazing sci fi / space travel film if you ignore the final act. It uses mostly practical effects but still manages to convey the awesomeness of space better than 95% of big budget space movies have (Gravity and Ad Astra being exceptions). Even Interstellar skips past all the interesting and majestic parts of space travel to focus on its weird character plot.

Also if you like space travel films you should read 'Seveneves' by Stephenson. The first and second acts are some of the most interesting and captivating realistic descriptions of planetary catastrophe and space travel I've ever read/seen.

Sunshine (2007 I think) is decent.

>like Gravity and Interstellar
Those movies were garbage, but to fair, if you liked them, there might space movies at that level, (which would be a low bar, but I can't think of ones that pass it).

Ad Astra is a subtle nod to 2001, i think it will become a cult classic. The movie seems to piss of a lot of dumb people.

>low budget
>"well made"
Pick one retard

play dead space

>Seveneves
shit i read that last year on a whim because of snowcrash, didnt think id plow through a 700 pg hard sci fi book as fast as i did. they're making a movie of that right?

You're retarded and any good movie recommendation will be wasted on you.

what the fuck? You don't think low budget movies can be well made? Reservoir Dogs, Memento American Psycho, etc.

>tfw we'll never know what Kaneda did see

Attached: 1384032854578.png (990x407, 327K)

SPACESHIT NEEDS BUDGET AND IMAX
THUS SPOKE THE LORD

why do brainlets hate the ending? Not showing the creature would make the entire journey seem pointless. The last crew member was successful at finding intelligent life her last moment.
Without that, it's just "everyone dies, the end"

>i liked interstellar and gravity
and 50 replies fell for this bait, well played OP

if you were serious you are a turbozoomerpleb

you're just unironically retarded if you thought Moon was boring and needed a huge budget to somehow fix it. Sure the CGI was pretty bad but that's a really minor point since none of that was the focus of the movie.

Faggot

ITS A MOVIE ABOUT GOING STIR CRAZY SO IT COULD STAY WITH MOSTLY INTERIOR SHOTS, LOW BUDGET HACKS AND WORKAROUNDS

AND THE SETS WERE DECENT, UNLIKE EUROPA REPORT'S SETS LIKE IT WAS FILMED IN A BREAK ROOM LMAO

Kek

>they don't have superpowers lol
cretin

Event Horizon gets a lot of shit, but I liked it. Shame we'll never get the ultra violent cut

Those are bad movies.

well that's a contrarian take. They're almost objectively "well made" though, whether or not you personally like them.

YOUR A BAD MOVIE LMAO

Pandorum was bretty gud. Dunno if it counts as "space" though.

It is though, contrarian
Neck yourself
Gravity was pants on head retarded.

I enjoyed Life and First Man

Ad Astra is the obvious choice
Weekday theaters should be empty next week

Missing Arrival

Good, but not fitting

Put off by Kermode, will wait for a torrent

How is this show lads, I'm dying for some spacekino

The future is brown, dirty and gay

Tedious. Very fucking tedious. I managed the first series but then dropped.

seethe

Kermode is pretty hit and miss.

KERMODE IS A DIPSHIT AND THIS IS A THEATER MOVIE
TORRENT SHITTERS ARE GONNA COME CRYING LATER THAT THEY MISSED SEEING IT PROPERLY

they'll be empty because Ad Astra is shit.

Gravity is kino. The Martian is fun. Europa Report is good for what it is.
I liked Prospect. Thought Sunshine and Moon were eh.
Interstellar is overrated (although nowadays I think people know that).
I'll check Spacewalker out.

Unrealistic alarm warning. youtube.com/watch?v=RQvWr-7FAuM

I agree, when it comes to his verdict. But his style of saying "it reminded me of x" or "if you're a fan of y you'll probably like this" ennables people to make a good guess as to whether the film is for them. He's also one of the few remaining critics who actually does his job because he's a fan of film and not due to political motivations. And when I disagree with him, for example I enjoyed hereditary and he was critical, he makes good points that I can value and sometimes cause a rethink.
I still haven't forgiven him for convincing me to watch overlord though.

Robbie Collin is a soi faggot though.

>Gravity is kino
Cringe and retard filtered.

GRAVITYS OPENING SET PIECE IN IMAX 3D IS YET TO BE TOPPED IN SPACESHIT

MOVIE IS UTTERLY USELESS ON BLURAY IF YOU'VE SEEN HOW IT REALLY WAS

It's pretty nice. Not top kino but not horrible either.

Guess I’m still salty about his Palindromes review

Gravity is mindbogglingly stupid.

YOUR CRITICISM SHOWS YOU MISSED THE POINT OF GRAVITY ENTIRELY

PLOT BRAINLETS ARE TRULY A PLAGUE

Ron Howard has the rights, but seems unlikely. It started as a tv show, then became a novel when nobody bought it.
Too expensive.

Gravity was such a disappointment and a really illogical film. The writers treat the audience like we all have MCU-branded Onions enemas.
