Hell yes, though I don’t know if I’d call them manipulative as I felt the show genuinly earned the emotion in those scenes. It went so much deeper under the skin of its characters than most dramas I’ve seen.

Not only that but they had practical effects everywhere and they built a shitload of random plane parts for wreckage and interior plane scenes. And they were shooting on location in Hawaii, which is expensive in itself. But damn does it pay off. The island itself is one of the most beautiful parts of the show

Some very fine actors and well-developed characters. Any scene with Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson together was gold.
They basically spent 6 seasons trying one crazy storytelling trick after another. It didn't always work but when it did it worked really well. The last few episodes of Season 3 were LOST perfection: new mysteries, revelations that actually satisfied, and character arcs taking well-done turns.
Hawaii is always pretty to look at.
