Attractive black people are racist.
>Martha being black is brought up only twice in the entire series
>Bill being black (and gay) is brought up every five minutes so that the audience doesn't forget
Bill was the best after Donna.
People don't like Martha as she was an strong independent woman of colour
>Attractive black people
You mean, mixed people?
martha and bill both had nice arses, and that's really all that matters.

MATT SMITH WAS THU PROPA DOCTA MATE
Matt Smith's Doctor was a man child, Some good episodes though
easy, the dumb bitch was trying WAY TOO HARD to be (f) David Tennant.
>first episode had the highest ratings since Tennant
>eight weeks later it was already hitting late-Capaldi numbers
I don't understand what happened. Did Internet and video on demand services suddenly for the first time become a factor during November of 2018?
What an ugly cunt!!!FACT!!!
god I forgot how fucking ugly she was
Cute! CUTE!!

Donna was fun because she didn't want to suck doctor dick unlike almost all other nucompanions
You incels going to pretend that you wouldn't fuck her or atleast let her suck your cock if she offered?
I wouldn't even be able to understand her with that horrid accent.
Since we're on the topic of dr who, anyone can give me episodes like pic related? More like horror/paranormal themed rather than sci-fi? TIA

I always thought she was the most attractive companion.
GOAT episode
She's like a horrible mashup of the worst parts of Tennant and Smith's Doctors, without the depth or nuance. The show is like a meme of itself at this point.
>duuuuh funny space man hate gun. BEST FREINDS!
Fucking nailed it.
You have amazingly bad tastes user
their dynamic was the best and 12th is the best doctor (who did admittedly get shafted in the writing department)
change mind
People always tune in to see the new Doctor, especially if it's something novel like the first woman. Doesn't mean they're going to keep watching if it's not any good.
Mind Robber episode 1 is surreal horror kino (rest of it is crap)
I missed the Ponds.
martha is of course prettier, but bill was 100 times better companion. Martha was wooden as fuck.
It was a neutered version of the 6 and Peri dynamic, to be honest.
>the social justice crowd tuned in at first to MAKE SURE it was consistent with their ideas
>with that settled-THEY DONT LIKE SCIFI- so they left...along with many diehard fans

How do I into classic who?
I always wanted to but I never got to it and i think some episodes are lost or whatever
Capaldi isn't one doctor. He starts as grumpy old man who is just kind of sick of everything and treats humanity like a petulant child he's responsible for but doesn't really respect. Then, he regenerates into wacky old funny man.
First version and Clara have excellent chemistry, second version is trash.
Same.
HOW MANY SECONDS IN ETERNITY
Martha was the best!
Seasons 13-14, and a bit of 15, often referred to as the gothic horror phase by fans.
Don't need lost eps to enjoy the rest. Start with whatever stories sound the most interesting. You're more likely guaranteed kino whichever one you pick with 3 and 4 but 1 and 2 are also top tier. In the 80s, the quality becomes more hit and miss but there is still some good stuff in there. Following perceived "wisdom" with classic DW is a bad idea because a few retards have forced their awful opinion into mainstream thought. Just decide for yourself.
Doctor Who: the fandom that disappeared overnight.
my favorite as well. I haven't seen anything past season 5 or 6... whichever one was the episode with the submarine or the one with the dinosaurs.
Just start by checking out some highly rated stories from each era, to see if anything in particular catches your interest.
>hugely popular on tv
>hugely popular on Yea Forums, /who/ threads were a ride
>Literally gave birth to tumblr's culture
>Everyone kinda gave up after capaldi's second season
Feels weird.
Oh, my Jenna...
Don't worry about watching it in order. You can always do that later. Just check out stories or eras you like the sound of. Do not sit and watch a six parter in one sitting. Have fun and feel free to laugh at the bad acting, sets, costumes, effects, music etc.
>Capaldi isn't one doctor
what kind of fucking excuse is that, is that supposed to disqualify him? he's the best doctor, end of story
the 12th Doctor really just didn't please anyone. They lost the fangirls who tune in to fantasise about their prince Charming taking them on adventures right away. Then they lost the more oldschool fans who were initially happy to have an older, meaner Doctor, by not really following through on that vision, and also turning him into Dr Social Justice.
>Dr Social Justice.
Social Worker Who
Looks like Michael Jackson back in the 80s.
What does Michael Jackson do in an elevator?
Bresses a buton :DDD
>wibbly wobbly timey wimey
I blame BBC executive meddling for Capaldi's personality change. Nuwho fans were used to the Doctor being a nice guy who could snap when pushed to far.
Doctor Who established itself as escapism for lonely young women. As you said, the fans couldn't self insert as the Doctor's love interest with Capaldi.
It's very easy when your audience has been Tumblr since 2005.
Tumblr didn't exist in 2005
The sentiment did.
>9 is a PTSD-riddled survivor. He's a hopeful realist who's seen enough death in his lifetime, he knows that evil things will continue if no one stops them.
>10 is a massive egomaniac who genuinely works himself into believing he's a God. He's extremely moody but dedicates his time to being cool and dashing and handsome and snogs beautiful women. He's like the teenage doc.
>11 still carries a God Complex. He works with his negative emotions by playing himself as an uncool child instead of a dashing hero, but he knows it's an act, he's depressed. He's a sad clown.
>12 battles morality and identity in a new life cycle. He's peaked ages ago in many different ways and needs to find a way for life to keep going, he needs to deal with his past demons and find happiness in the now. He's the aging fallen rock star
>13 is just sorta nice? Because 12 let all that angst and guilt go? And she acts like a child because...?
13 just needs characterization. I agree with some anons here that said she should have been a mother figure to her TARDIS Crew. Make Yaz, Rian and Graham all one family who are mourning Grace's death and go on adventures to deal with that grief, and the Doctor slowly turns into the missing piece needed for that family core to work. Bring a real meaning to the "Senpai" word she keeps spewing around
Easy. Hire cancer.
This really. I don't dislike the Capaldi seasons as many on here do but the casting of Capaldi in addition to Moffat staying on and doubling down on his idiosyncrasies definitely killed the momentum that the show had post 50th. Which is a shame because there is great stuff in the Capaldi era
The show, then and now, doesn't really know what to do with itself in the streaming era. It's trying to recapture that ex-tumblr crowd and their twitterati offspring by going fully woke but they don't seem all that interested. On a creative level, the show should probably stop chasing popularity like a sad middle aged rocker and just settle on being cult and weird. If the zeitgeist one day shifts in its favour then that's great, if not then oh well. I realize this is unrealistic to expect the BBC to finance a show like Doctor Who that isn't a ratings hit but whatever.
>Capaldi isn't one doctor. He starts as grumpy old man who is just kind of sick of everything and treats humanity like a petulant child he's responsible for but doesn't really respect. Then, he regenerates into wacky old funny man.
You ignorant twat, this is actually a fucking overarching part to 12's story. He spends his first series trying to self diagnose if h regenerated into a cunt of a sentient being or if he is a good man. Then once he sorts it out he mellows out and becomes more approachable and less grumpy.
>Martha is defined by her career, her relationships with her family, things that developed over time
>Bill starts off being black and gay, ends up being gay and black and a robot
What did Bill even do before she met the Doctor. I think she was a student?
Yeah, that's the justification. It's like how Disney's Thor "found himself" and decided to become a funnier character because it sells tickets. You can justify anything with a bit of clumsy writing.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
The writing took a turn to the loo that fucking robin hood episode, man and the husbandoism that kept teenage tumblrites on tennant's and smith's dongs was gone, regardless, the tumblrites kinda grew up to twitterites anyway so it'd fail regardless. It feels as if the giant market of girls simply doesn't exist anymore.
Personally, with capaldi announced at the 50th anniversary which was cash, i honestly expected a more serious, less fairytale doctor. Like, not full on malcolm tucker in space, even though that'd be cool, but something more mature, and moffat completely failed to deliver.
Who going woke isn't a symptom of death, it's a product of it. It's BBC execs going nuts over ratings dropping and thinking that's the way to salvage it.
The change is literally signposted at the end of his character arc in season 8
You might think that's a hell of a long time.
Personally, I think that's a helluva bird.
Yeah a big problem with 13 so far is that they started her off with a bunch of companions, so there wasn't really room or time for her characterization to come through and develop at all, but at the same time there were too many companions to develop effectively either.
Answering the question of "am I a good man", does not lead automatically into funky rock n roll grandpa.
Reminder that Doctor Who has always been woke. The only thing that changed is our modern sensibilities.
And shit writing
He literally makes a remark about "red Indian savages" in the very first episode.
Why must you fall for such shit bait?
This. Let's not forget that the first doctor said, and I quote:
"This is a madhouse, it's full of arabs".
lmao Doctor Who has always been shit (and I say that as a fan). Nothing changed there
It used to be good shit though. Fun shit, with a big shitty heart.
Now it's just cynical, artificial, and disgusting.
I'm not sure if I have another Chibnall season in me
I just.... literally..... can't even
You are tripping matte. Martha herself wasn´t that good because the whole point was to make her the rebound girl and no matter what she did she was never going to be Rose. It didn´t help that her season also had one of the worst season finales (though the YANA thing and bringing back the Master has it´s merits) but her run had some pretty good episodes. Blink, family of blood, Human nature, Gridlock, even the shakespeare code.
I honestly can´t remember anything about Bill aside from her being the black gay companion and that what killed her was literally becoming a white drone. (really fucking subtle. A poster girl with no personality to the bitter end)
The only reason why Bill is not the worst is because the new ones are all atrocious. (But then again so is the writting and the new aesthetic so...)
You watched his first? Damn.
Fair enough mate.
Chibnall making Popcorn Doctor Who is worse than any RTD faggotry or any Moffuckery.
Chib out WHEN.
FUCKIN WHEN
Does it matter? You think the BBC is going to replace him with someone better?
I could live with popcorn Doctor Who. Chibnall is Oscar bait Who. It's straining so hard to be "important" and "topical".
>lmao Doctor Who has always been shit
It's always had decent episodes too though and the shit episodes still had merit
Even if it's worse it'll be better than the nothing we have now.
Chibnall himself describes this as popcorn Who, this is what he imagines as that (Honestly oscar bait is popcorn as fuck, even then)
But I think there's more boring [standard adventure] episodes than Oscar Bait ones. The only ones are prolly Rosa and Punjab, and Punjab is actually good so I don't mind lmao.
But yeah, Rosa desperately wants to get a BAFTA, it's embarassing
Something must happen to you when you get put in charge of Doctor Who, Moffat and Chinballs both wrote great episodes under other showrunners but turned to shit when they the boss.
Good trash Doctor Who is an episode like Paradise Towers, which I love. If you're going to make trash, at least have cannibal grannies trying to eat the Doctor's companion. That's hilarious.
The Two Doctors is also prime Trash. That episode is horrible by all objective standards, but I love it.
Chibnall had exactly one good episode and it was probably unintentional.
Do you honestly believe that you have a right to an opinion on Doctor Who without seeing the Horns of Nimon, you meddlesome hussy?
another issue is that after developing the Doctor's sexuality for the past 14 years, it just ups and vanishes the second he becomes a woman. Missy was a very sexual creature which was one thing that made her interesting, especially because we've never really seen the sexuality of Time Lords before. i mean couldn't they have scored more woke points by giving the Doctor a new girlfriend or something?
of course it's like mentions. the show is Tumblr featuring Doctor Who, the Doctor is now a footnote in her own show because she's still white.
if they had given her a purpose beyond being the black and gay companion who is black and gay and lets you know she's black and gay every chance she gets and the environments she travels to makes sure to remind the viewer that she's black and gay twice an episode - and had an additional season (with 12 or transitioning with 13) she could have been Donna tier. it's ironic because her being gay could have actually been an interesting way to foreshadow the Doctor becoming female, with her starting to get feelings for the Doctor despite her preference and then, bam, Doctor Vagina. i think they even did that with her saying something like "if you weren't a man" or "you might be the only man" or something like that. but then she goes off with the deus ex machina star eyed chick to wipe the slate clean for Chibnall to ruin the series.
That sounds pretty clunky. The Doctor has predominantly traveled with women for the entire series. Why would one particular woman rub off on him to such an extent?
Also, why can't he just be a man? It's clearly better for the character.
>Why would one particular woman rub off on him to such an extent?
ask Moffat that about River.
>Also, why can't he just be a man? It's clearly better for the character.
well Missy was fantastic so i'm not against the IDEA of a female Doctor. but you need a good actress and a solid idea for the character going in, instead of not having a fucking clue other than "we need a vagina for woke points". but after 13 i'd prefer if they would just go back to male actors because i genuinely doubt any showrunner would do a female Doctor for any reason other than virtue signaling.
Jenna Coleman actor
"Bill" nigger
I would say the Master is by nature more chaotic, and can more easily take different forms. Also, not the core of the show. Doesn't need to hold people's attention for 12 episodes a year.
Uhm Bill uh surhve chips
HHHHHNNNNNGGGG
pancake tits
>pretend
Naw. Everyone genuinely finds that she-boon disgusting.
>i'm not against the IDEA of a female Doctor
You deserve what the show has become.
shut your mouth, edgelord
Nothing edgy about it. It's a retarded idea. Watching half the fan base try to score woke points after the shitshow of the last series is just pathetic.
Remove it from current events and the trend of 'wokeness' and whatever other buzzword and explain to me why it is a bad idea. Why no writer or actress can do it justice.
It will never be removed from current events. You are living in a fantasy land.
The Doctor is just fundamentally very male. He's a patriarchal figure, as much as that's a dirty concept now. He's always been this strong father figure who sits like an anchor at the center of the cast. Making that character work as a woman is always going to be a huge uphill struggle. I guess it's within the realms of possibility that a woman who is just perfect is out there, but there will probably also always be a man for the job who is twice as good.
>if they had given her a purpose beyond being the black and gay companion who is black and gay and lets you know she's black and gay every chance she gets and the environments she travels to makes sure to remind the viewer that she's black and gay twice an episode - and had an additional season (with 12 or transitioning with 13) she could have been Donna tier
We will never know though. I think the problem with Bill is that they just made her too one dimensional, completly defined by her sexuality. Jack was gay too and that´s never a problem for his character, neither on DW nor on Torchwood. Vastra and Jenny are a couple and they are both great too. A good character is just good, interesting or funny regardless of those things and is rather defined by his/her actions, dialogues and whatnot. Granted the writters never did Bill any favours in that regard. She never really did get a chance to do much.
> well Missy was fantastic so i'm not against the IDEA of a female Doctor.
This too. i don´t really care if the Doctor is male or female as long as she is The Doctor. Missy was a pretty good, playfull and witty Master, specially on her later seasons. Jodi´s problem is not that she is a woman, it´s pretty much everything else but that. The shitty scripts (can ensure Rosa parks gets a seat on the buss even be called an adventure?) and crappy dialogues, the "cinematographic" aesthetic, the dull companions... the terrible shit tier villains like Tim fucking shaw, the time travelling racist and whatnot. Everything is so uninspired generic and plain simply boring now. Putting some political ideas on the subtext of a show is all and good (Doctor who had made political arguments before) but those have to be on the subtext and the adventures and all the rest needs to still be fun.
I don't think 13th should've been a mother figure to the crew, I think she should've straight up adopted a child and have the youngest companion to date. It doesn't have to be an infant, but definitely someone pre-teen and is in very formative years, so that over the course of the season we can see Doctor reflect on development of the child.
Soon.
How would they even work that in now? It was kind of a strange, vaguely defined concept to begin with. A rogue element of the Doctor's personality from between his 11th and 12 regenerations takes physical form?
That's your future. :^)
>pure chaos
Beautiful :^)
It wasn't the worst idea, but I'd rework Twice Upon a Time so instead of the 1st Doctor just beinga grumpy old man who has nothing to do but be sexist and watch in awe as the 'cooler' Doctor saves the day, he's a voice of innocence and youth (which would be odd considering the age difference but if any show is gonna pull off a young old man it's this one) - to remind 12 why he even started travelling in the first place and give him a fresh perspective.
Then that leads into a semi-reboot (which is what they kinda did) letting go of all the baggage that's served its purpose through nu-who so far, but is getting old now, and the show can continue anew. I would have also picked a younger actor/actress for 13.
Instead we got 1 only teaching 12 how pathetic he used to be and how much BETTER Moffat's show is than that old shit, then all 12 learns is that he needs to keep saving the universe because he's the bestest thing ever, then regenerating into another egomaniac.
I went into the last capaldi season thinking it'd be one of the most painful things i could sit through because of the mutt companion and the sjw baggage she brought with her but that season actually had some great ideas for episodes and i really, really liked the final episode with the mondasian cyberman, if they hadn't picked a cancerous companion i think it would've been a very memorable season
Female doctor on the other hand is just so fucking bland and boring, add to that the sjw pandering and you killed it
>ur spaceship is called tardis?
this.
Someone posted an idea about 13 having two sibling kids as companions and I think that'd be pretty fun desu
Is that who I think it is? Fuck. How old am I now?
Yeah, cause what the woman doctor really needed was a couple of kid actors to help the show out.
>jacking it off to her like a madman when I was a teenager
>10 years later she's still a qt
I don't know why it made me feel so much
No, it isn't.
>(who did admittedly get shafted in the writing department)
Series 8 and 9 are quite literally two of the best-written seasons of the entire show. The level of character writing 12 got was unprecedented. It's such a cliché to go "uh he got shafted by the writing" as if the writing didn't crank up several notches in depth and ambition to match his sheer talent.
You say that but I thought Smith had more chemistry with young Amelia than he did with grown Amy/Rory. Always made me sad that they never got to go on just one adventure when she was young.
>Vastra and Jenny are a couple and they are both great too
Take your dhit taste and leave, you don't belong here
funky grandpa has been the whole character of the doctor since at least patrick troughton, just because he's playing an electric guitar instead of a recorder or the spoons doesn't make it any different. The "am I a good man" speech was 12 realising that he was being too serious and so chilled out.
*shit
Claim you Ayyfu, faggots.
>cancerous companion
Bill was fine. She was literally Donna if Donna wasn't a "can I speak to the manager" boomer
>Donna
>can I speak to the manager boomer
Why do Americans watch this show?
am I wrong though?
sweet jesus i want a chocolate mama RIGHT NOW
Post hottest companion picture
holy shit what a cutie i want to rub her shoulders and listen to her vent after a long day
Doctor Who is one of my favourite shows and I fucking hate it
12 & Clara > Everyone else.
>gets cucked by imaginary Amy
Donna has a personality, can you tell me something about billy besides black and gay?
Tell me about it, im pretty sure I would rate the majority of the episodes mediocre to bad.
yeah but portraying the first female doctor as motherly is sexist... or something
Yes.
Christina De Souza would have made a great companion.
Only reason I even enjoy this show is because The Doctor himself. If I cant enjoy whoever is playing the character I wont enjoy the show itself
Why not start at the beginning? Hartnell Who is a bit rough around the edges the first few episodes, but at least it's not always set in or around London.
Plus, Barbara is a qt and Ian is a capable, resourceful man who saves the day more than once.
You just watch for those god-tier episodes that make it all worth it. This show is responsible for some of my favourite episodes in all television, and also most of my least favourite.
It has a charm that really nothing else can match, shame it's turning into a more generic americanized syfy shitfest to try and appeal to a larger audience.
Shut up Chesterfield.
Of course. She's driven, voluntarily attending The Doctors lectures despite not being a student. She's smart, The Doctor isn't going to bother tutoring anyone who doesn't already have a baseline of intelligence and she gets high marks. She's outspoken, calling out the guy in Thin Ice. But she doesn't have as short a temper as Donna, listening to 12 when he tells her that getting angry isn't going to solve everything. She's strong-willed, holding onto herself during the monk invasion and when she becomes a cyberman. She's into sci-fi, she makes references to a thing she watched on netflix, understood what a mindwipe was, and got disappointed when space was boring in Oxygen. I could go on.
It's like people heard her mention liking girls and just tuned out for the rest of the series
barbara is the GOAT companion
Chantho/Fortune teller
Astrid Peth. She's not from Earth so it counts
Don't worry, Ian. Grandpa is like that, he doesn't mean it.
That's how you know you're a real fan
10/10 body
4/10 face
Cutest of the cute. Only Ace and Clara come close in cuteness. Maybe Zoe.
I always wanted to fuck her, even during her t h i c c phase
Hartnell Era is mostly comfy kino with some wild experimental stories.
The Ian/Barbara/Vicki team is one of my favourites.
fucking hell I just really love Vicki
Vicki is my favourite 1st Doctor companion, and one of my favourite companions overall.
>when you realise Jodie Whitaker would actually be a good choice for a new Romana, if they had any sense
I see you too are a gentleman and a scholar.
Whitaker is a literal mouth breather. I swear to God there's not a single scene of her with her mouth actually closed.
Besides, the last thing we need is the current crop of retards ruining another character.
Jodie Whittaker has this uncanny ability to act exactly as good as the script shes given. No better, no worse.
So I find it hard to say if she'd be a good choice for any character. She'd be an awful choice if Chris Chibnalls doing the writing
