This tells you all you need to know. I mean, just look at the comments. These people unironically wanted it to be an action movie

The hilarious thing is the studio dumbed down the movie to pander to retards and it was still too smart for burgers.

>do an introspective character study and father son film in space
>even put some action scenes so there would be some hook for the audiences
>spell out the message so every retard gets it
Lol, why wasn't there more action? Why was Brad Pitt so stoic? What was the point? Nothing happened lol. I fucking hate mainstream audiences.

Alright guys, be honest with me, is this movie worth going to the cinema for ? Is it, dare I say, kino ?

It's not kino but it's really good and definitely worth watching in cinema.

Any movie with good visuals taking place in space is worth watching in cinema.

Yes it's worth it. If you liked Moon, this movie flows at a similar pace, which explains why the kiddie audience hated it. They just marketed this movie as an action film when it's not. The moon rover chase is the only action scene that lasts longer than a minute in the entire movie. Burgers got tricked into watching kino and it left a sour taste in their mouths because they weren't warned before hand. Fucking top notch trolling from the marketing team.

>low critic%, high audience score
>CRITICS ARE SO OUT OF TOUCH LMAO PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN
>high critic%, low audience score
>PEOPLE ARE FUCKING STUPID

This but unironically

>DUDE strawman LMAO

>low critic%, high audience score
Those cases are because the critics bash the movie solely for political reasons and people who otherwise enjoyed the flick get pissed off and rate it high. Keep in mind, this is ONLY when the movie is enjoyable to a pleb audience to being with. ie.capeshit, action shlock, or some dumb disaster/horror movie
>high critic%, low audience score
Those cases are because the movie isn't any of those mentioned above and the audience never liked it to begin with, and the critics can't say anything bad about it because there's no reason to, and it's an otherwise well made movie, so it creates a disconnect.

Just to add on, think about how critics are sellouts who pander based on political talking points, and imagine that is your average audience as well but they are just even plebbier. People tend to forget the rest of the world are literal NPCs who only go to the theaters to watch something to pass the time and eat some popcorn.

Either that or, the movie is only praised by critics for being on their political side (ie. captain marvel) and the movie-going public finds it lukewarm at best.

>high critic%, low audience score
Isn't it weird that this only happens with SJW propaganda or movies distributed by Disney? Hahaha it's almost like the CEO of Fandango which in turn owns Rotten Tomatoes was a lifelong Disney suit or something LOL imagine!

People went to cinema to see a 100 million dollar James Gray space epic. Critics actually know who Gray is and know what to expect, people were expecting Interstellar 2 based on marketing campaign which misrepresented the film.

When I walked out of the theater today i overheard a woman say "So his dad went crazy so what" and honestly I knew that half or more of the audience in there probably didnt understand what they saw.

Really? I thought it'd be art house schlock mainly because the director is obscure.

High Life is none of those. Also James Gray is very respected director and most of his films have good reviews by critics. Lost City of Z has similar ratings by critics and audiences as Ad Astra and it was distributed by Amazon.

I think that is the reason I hated it

I know it's an unpopular opinion but most of the time the critic score is more trustworthy than the audience score.

Gray is not really obscure. The film is mix of more arty film and blockbuster film. It's a character study and father son film but it has some action scenes mixed in. The primary focus is the character study so that's why most people don't like it, i guess. Also based on some comments, people didn't even get the film and it's pretty much dumbed down so everyone gets it.

People are fucking stupid, though. Anyone who puts more stock in the audience score than the critics score is a fucking retard.

it's possible for both the audience and the critics to be bad.

DON'T EVER DUMB DOWN YOUR SUBJECT MATTER! Did God Dumb Down Prophecies?
Did Vladimir Nabokov dumb down Lolita?
No!
Piss on plebs! The more unyielding your winsome cordial are the more satisfying the payoff!
I quote Lolita's Humbert Humbert who demanded a quickie from the nubile Lolita on a picnic one Sunday afternoon, "Venus came and went," They were on a beaten path just to the side in a modest clearing and one that had a shade of some trees that afforded some privacy so as long as eyes were not intently seeing. And in a huff Humbert brushed aside Lolita's garment and with her sun flower dress bunched up around her chest the beast Humbert sullied her cherry with gusto until, Venus came and went! Incedentally a family walked by and if memory served the couple in a panic got dressed and disappeared.

>angry movie review
gee wonder if he'll like it

that dude in the space suit is fucking spot on
film is over hyped nonsense

Fuck Trump and Fuck wh*te people

Same thing with Lost City of Z, also made by the Ad Astra director. It has a poor 57% audience score. I imagine the audiences thought Z would be some fun Indiana Jones adventure and Astra, with Pitt of all actors, as a big space action adventure.

I think only the last third where they spell out the message for you was really dumbed down.
What's wrong with it

But honestly, keep in mind that people who like this unironically are boomers who want to watch a dumb action flick. This movie is for normies as much as anything else, it's just not approved of by the critics like with the marvel movies.

Z was decent but one his weaker if not his weakest film imo.

Imagine thinking any Rambo past the first is good.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the ending left a bad taste in the mouths of audiences who wanted something feel good. Like a big happy release when he finally discovers this lost city.

I haven't seen Ad Astra. Would you recommend it?

It's like a really amazing 7/10 movie that is definitely worth watching in the Cinema

2>3>5>4>>>>> fermented shit>>> 1

Yes, i prefer Ad Astra to Lost City of Z. Ad Astra is my second favourite Gray film after Two Lovers and it's really good. Some of the themes explored in Lost City of Z are carried to Ad Astra, they are nice companion pieces. Also Pitt is fantastic.

>movie has low critic score and high audience score
>Yea Forums: HOLY BASED, SEETHING LIBERAL CRITICS HATE IT! LOOKS LIKE KINOS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS!
>movie has high critic score and low audience score
>Yea Forums: dumb americans don't understand true kino. They wanted an action movie.
And that's just this week.

Lol, pitt have no credibility to do any "profund" movie, everyfucking one but you retards rightfully only want action stuff from him

Yeah, this Yea Forums guy has some kind of schizophrenia methinks

Read .

its like apocalypse now meets 2001 with more actions sequences

Is he an associate of Yea Forums? I really think the FBI needs to step up their game and bring that guy down once and for all.
