wasn't Gondor in pretty rough shape by the time LOTR happens? The movie version gives the idea of a formerly glorious city that's decaying

Films are limited by budget and reality. Some text on paper isn't.

what did they eat tho?

2 breakfasts

Poose

Stock grain and food transported down the river.

Cherry tomatoes.

movie is better though, the only reason that the first one looks better is the stellar sky job.

Soul

Soulless

Hackson btfo

Landscape is too complicated. Difficult to have a giant battle there.

Gondorians must have fucking strong legs

fried chicken and grapes

I can't unsee the lack of farmland, villages, and roads. Hopefully they can fix this in Weta Digital's inevitable 25th Anniversary Edition.

2nd bailout

>Color bad
It was a decision made after 2000 that all fantasy had to be as ugly and drab as reality.

?? Other than the lack of people and farms around the city its pretty similar.

I do agree though there should have been farm fields around the city. What do these people eat?

That was just a stylistic thing popular at the time.

Gladiator, Harry Potter, Lotr, Fight Club, Matrix, anything by David fincher etc.

That green-grey drab color scheme

Fuck you, contarian edglord. The LotR film trillogy was more breathtaking than every blockbuster franchise since then put together.

Tax paying has it costs.

There's some very weird color grading in these movies. Like in this shot where they highlight just Theoden's eyes. They do the same thing with Aragorn in Boromir's death scene.

Top painting looks like s sci-fi city, the movie one looks more “medieval”

That's just the sun hitting his eyes you dumb fuck.

Go outside more.

>Lotr
>medieval

Wrong LOTR is Iron Age
