Full Metal Jacket

What's the point of a lolita adaptation when the actress is obviously over age?

i get you. why couldn't it be like that Orphan movie where they still cast a child even though it's supposed to be an adult

Agreed. Lolita can't be adapted properly, beautiful book but it doesn't make for a good movie

it is possible to make a movie out of this, but it probably can't be american-made.

henry cavill or similar as humbert, a precocious age-accurate dolores, and don't skip the pre-story

Ok I'm going to shit on all yall.
Dr. Strangelove.
Its got good commentary on nuclear warfare and megalomania out of control BUT admit it: Its a comedy but you didn't laugh out loud once.

How can it be his worst when Fear and Desire exists?

also Lolita is his best film

She was 14.

14 pushing 40.

no one really counts his low budget releases

Fear and Desire

First 15 minutes are best kino ever and also reveal rich people to be horrible pedos who love snuff shows. Pretty good I'd say.

Satire does not always contain pratfalls, dick jokes and pies in the face.

crazy. it's full of laugh out loud moments and they still hold up 50 years on

>pratfalls, dick jokes and pies in the face
But dr Strangelove did have all the jokes of the same caliber

good satire does. do you even know what the word means?

saw a screening of dr stangelove once. You're right no one laughed the entire film. Don't think that makes it a bad movie though. also the little bible makes me chuckle.

Lolita is still his best though

did you read the novel prior to watching?

I'm a very slow reader, so no. I haven't read the book. I haven't read very many books since high school

How can anybody be a slow reader in current year? All people do all fucking day is read on their telephones. You read, you get better at it, that's how it works.

it was comfy, i liked it for than his early movies and (maybe) Spartacus

dumb phoneposter

>it was comfy
This. It's literally his comfiest movie, except for maybe Barry Lyndon

Better than the awful book though.

based

his best comedy!

good thread
