What's the point of making it ambiguous, there's no need to have an open ending just to have one.

Cobb's motivation in the film is to see his kids again. In the real world, his criminal status prevents him from seeing them, and in his mind, his memories of Mal prevent him from remembering them. At the end of the film, he's overcome both obstacless and he's able to see them again and he's happy. The point is that to him, it doesn't matter if he's dreaming or awake - all that matters to him is that he can see his kids again.

They explain it in the film. The dead lady is Don's dead wife, but his projection of her that he brings into other people's dream. Physics works the same in the dream world and outer layers effect the inner layers. Okay, I'll give you the bigger gun part, but I think its hinted that they're still bound by real world logic so they can't create fantasy weapons others it would mess with the perception of the dreamer and they'd realize they were being hacked.
