Because besides his cooler story arc, zord and overall character he then was part of several different poweranger generations as mentor/master and in some of those he didnt have an active role he did cameos aswell.
He simply got way more screen time with the power rangers than the original red who got replaced again and again forgotten, instead of remaining as some power figure in the power ranger universe.
