Cool kids never have the time
Shakedown...1979
So true. We don't.
Snorted a lot of coke to this song
DOHJAYSUS
Why is this the best Smashing Pumpkins song?
I tried going on Yea Forums once and all they did was talk about this shit
Stop posting this awful band
This song doesn't sound like anything else ever made
Because it's on their best album.
Yes. Yes they do.
i went on mu once and left deeply insulted
lol is this real
That's not Mayonaise
tfw listening to Siamese Dream right now
It's not. Only normalfags like 1979 the most because it's gotten constant play on the radio since it came out. Patricians know that Stand Inside Your Love is the best Pumpkins song.
And poured cement
Desu, I actually liked Billy more after I saw this...
no, this is not Cherub Rock
Machina > Siamese Dream > Mellon Collie > Gish > POWER GAP > Adore > everything else
Billy's voice went to shit after Zwan.
Extremely based and patricianpilled
Thirty-Three is basically the twin of this song
>not mayonnaise, luna, snail, crush, or to forgive
Mellon Collie>Siamese Dream>Gish>Adore>Machina
Wtf I just started listening to these guys after my Peruvian boss was playing them at work. I was just listening to disarm and enjoying the femininity of the lead singer while dreaming of my life with Emma Roberts. I am also part Mexican.
Objectively correct
IS IT BRIGHT WHERE YOU ARE
HAVE THE PEOPLE CHANGED
DOES IT MAKE YOU HAPPY YOU'RE SO STRANGE
>no Zeitgeist
>no Oceania
As a fan of both Watchmen and the Pumpkins, it was so cool seeing that trailer at the theater.
>Courtney love cheated on Kurt (arguably one of the most handsome rockstars ever) with this fat retard
>Kurt suicided and Nirvana broke up because of this fat retard
>no-one posting about how their B-sides album is better than most of their "proper" albums.
Shhh. Everything after Adore never happened.
Truly, I remember my dad gave me his 1st gen iPod Nano and that was the only mp4 file he had saved so I watched the hell out of that trailer. It immediately comes to mind when I hear that song.
She was with him before Kurt you retard. She was Billy's gf around Gish era.
More like
>courtney killed kurt
>billy dated her anyways because he went bald
stupid nirvana fan
I dunno... I'm kinda hoping next year we get some anniversary 10 disc mega set with Machina 1 and 2 the way the album was meant to be.
Billy took the yellowpill
80s Billy was cute though.
That’s bill burr.
based
how can such a massive faggot have made such great music?
also corgan with hair was 25x the artist this bald faggot became
At least he seems to be happy for the first time in like 25 years.
billy was hot when he's not fat. even bald billy had relatively slim periods and looked good
kids made fun of me in high school for liking this band
RICED
>jellybelly
NO WHERE
YOU’RE NOOOOOO WHERE
YOU’RE NOOO WHERE TO BE
maynard looks like such a goober nerd with that bald head of his
If Machina had come out right after Mellon Collie people would have jizzed all over it. Adore scared people off because it was so fucking weird (even though it's actually a great album, too).
Part of me wonders if Corgan deliberately wanted to ditch the plebs so he threw them for a loop and then want back to making pure rock kino once he knew only patricians were still listening.
siamese dream is the best 90s album the smashing pumpkins are fucking based corgan is fucking based soma is the greatest song ever made
Ive never seen a thread about this band on here but right when I start listening to them you guys decide to make one. I take it most of you are also some sort of Hispanic.
cringe
>I take it most of you are also some sort of Hispanic
Most people on Yea Forums are Americans, yes.
blame the leather dresses Adore-era Billy was wearing
lol
Anything after the Siamese Dream album is radio cringe shit.
>not Zero
Ignoring Zeitgeist I can kinda understand but anybody who tries to tell me Gish is better than Oceania needs to put down the crack pipe.
Also The true order is Mellon Collie > Siamese Dream > Machina > Oceania > Adore > Pisces > Zwan > Gish > Zeitgeist
although honestly you could rearrange Machina and Oceania and I'd be ok with it
Based. I can't wait for the Machina boxset that Billy has been promising for years.
I'm apparently the only person who thinks it's Poreclina of the Vast Oceans but that's okay, everybody else can be wrong me and Billy know the truth
Is machina and Oceania genuinely not shit or are you just memeing. Never listened to anything past Adore
Machina is good but Oceania being good is a meme
Machina is tied with Siamese Dream as my fav SP album.
Thirty Three has got to be the most honest, pure song Corgan wrote in his career. It's one of the most emotionally evocative songs i've ever heard, and definitely so from SP, which is saying something.
He looks like if Bill Burr fucked the coomer guy
They're both very good, although Machina is the last one with James And D'arcy, so if you're a a stickler for original lineups stop there.
I never thought it mattered since Billy wrote everything anyway and the replacement bassists were probably an improvement over D'arcy if we're being honest
It's a great and notable song because it captures what it feels like to be a teenager probably more than any other song.
Good choice, I never understand why nobody sees that Porcelina of the Vast Ocean and Thru The Eyes of Ruby are two parts of a whole and a masterpiece.
>cut me like you want me to
black cats are the best
gusicpilled
>Part of me wonders if Corgan deliberately wanted to ditch the plebs so he threw them for a loop and then want back to making pure rock kino once he knew only patricians were still listening.
I it is more likely he went the 'rock is dead' electronic route in 97-98 because Jimmy was kicked out of the band and without his great drummer he didn't want to write rock songs.
He was partly right in realizing rock was dead around '97, that was definitely the moment one should have figured it out (at least wasn't the dominant paradigm anymore), but his instincts were wrong to just go with some generic 1997 breakbeat gothtronica sound.
I mean that rock-breaks sound WAS very big between 1997 and 2001-ish, but it was corny and over-ripe and couldn't last.
>despite all my rage I'm still just a cat in a page
Fun fact:
Billy Corgan voiced Louie Anderson's dad in the show "Life with Louie".
Billy corgon also once tried to buy TNA wrestling.
Smart man.
>makes Adore because Eye and The End Is the Beginning Is the End were both well received
>none of the songs on Adore were half as good as Eye or The End Is the Beginning Is the End
What did Billy mean by this?
I always thought that it was more like Jimmy was serving a herion suspension than actually being kicked out, Billy was always going to get back together with him. But the fucking keyboardist died, they couldn't just not address the problem.
Also Corgan was apparently getting divorced which will take the piss out of you, too. I still feel like that album was kind of a challenge to fans, though. Like "I'm crawling down this rabbit hole are you coming with me or not."
>Billy Corgan voiced Louie Anderson's dad in the show "Life with Louie".
That's not true. Louie himself provided the voice of his father on the show. Where the hell did you get that idea from?
Based
Gay
APFHTLLR boxset is a must own if you like the pumpkins
youtube.com
if you listened to 1979 at any point of your teenagehood before you became too bitter to hope things would honestly change one day, you perfectly understand why it's the perfect song.
and honestly, maybe the most emotionally powerful and moving song of the 90s.
even now when i listen to it it brings me out of this toxic miasma of embittered early adulthood, and into that hopeful 15 year old's daydream.
I dont' mind switching Siamese Dreams with Mellon Collie, but that's basically correct.
I don't get how many people rate Machina so high. it's a 6/10 album at best
their same nasely high pitched voices that could fool an AI.
i think melon collie and siamese dream might be interchangeable. how anyone can rank gish above adore is beyond me. the songwriting on adore is so far ahead of almost anything on gish
What i don't understand is how Corgan went from this to the latest formation of Smashing Pumpkins and from what i've heard the feeling is clearly gone.
On that album, With every light made me cry. Just spoke to me on a personal level.
My nigga. Although 1979 is the best, mayo is the bettet best.
Zeitgeist is shit.
Oceania is the only worthwhile thing they did after the reformation and it's only half-decent
There's so many good to great to amazing songs in their catalogue though
I had it. Wish i didn't sell it back now.
Yeah, and also after knowing this song, you hear Perfect on Adore, and you realise that you are getting old and disillusionned.
This is also true it captures a certain feeling.
so true
I feel that about An Ode To No One. Being a teenager in a living hell fighting against parents, teachers, other kids, all alone. Ha, 20 years later and nothing much has changed.
Money.
>not Muzzle
Counting those in a real pumpkins discussion just shows how retarded you are
So why’d Billy shave his head?
>I only like the popular ones
Auschwitz...1939
Three things happened before Adore that explain its sound: first, he desperately wanted to prove he could branch out and he did. And he got a vocal coach, and that's why his voice was never the same after Adore.
Then, he got into a stable lovey relationship and that's why he ditched the angst and went full-on goth/romantic.
And also, Chamberlin was out, and he was too important in their sound.
Adore is still a fucking masterpiece, but then he went full crazy/retard on top of wanting to go back to his previous style, and Machina went to shit.
He got the last good bits of his capabilities in Machina II, there are a few good things in there, far more than in Machina.
Genocide? They never had the time.
They play them back to back in many love shows of the MCatIS era. Listen to the live in the MCatIS special édition
>hs gf used to put on this song while we drove around together
it hurts lads
Live* shows. Fucking phone
when i listen to 1979 though it makes me feel a surge of hope that violently takes away all the modern disillusionment. like a revitalizing novocaine for the soul.
>mfw "SPEAK TO ME IN A LANGUAGE I CAN HEAR"
based
For me it was the contrary. Listening to that guy talking about his teenagehood with such nostalgia made me feel like it was going to go fast and that I would feel old soon
I never knew, thanks.
>mfw about to turn 33
i thought maynard was gay
>tfw I lived through 1979
That isn't Geek USA, aka the best Gish song
why did it take so long to get to this answer? The music video is boomer kino too: Hanging out with your crew, skipping school, flipping off the world. Pre cell phone nostalgia
Geek usa was on SD and the best gish song is either crush or snail.
That doesn't make it not a Gish song. It's. Literally a pastiche of all the best parts of Gish.
It is THE Gish song.
I used to think he was a girl until he shaved his head
does anyone else listen to this song with a feeling of happiness? I have a wife and a son and recently got promoted at work! Tonight I showed him The Snowman for the first time(he's 1). He loved it!
I can't wait to play this song in the car during family vacations while he thinks he's listening to "classic rock"!
Welp, see ya later Yea Forums, I gotta wake up in 6 hours to mow my lawn!
because he was balding
>it's a Gish song because I say so
It's a Gish song because it's a Gish song. It is a song tributing Gish made from the same substrate as Gish in an album where nothing else even remotely sounds like Gish. And it kicks ass, fuck you.
Also Corgan himself has affectionately called it "Gish all in one song," so it's a Gish song because Corgan says so.
Soma is way more Gishey than Geek USA.
And Corgan said that more in the way that he accomplished more in Geek USA than in the entire Gish album.
Tonight tonight is their best song
How many times have you guys seen them live?only once for me but they played starla, xyu and even a cover of space oddity
DESPITE ALL MY RAGE
wow came here to post this
Adore is their best album
Ava adore is their best single/video
Why am I literally the only one with this opinion, I don't understand
more like baldy corgan lmao
Twice. Adore-era tour, and goodbye tour.
I also saw Zwan, and as much as the album was forgettable, the show was terrific.
Because it sounds nothing like other Pumpkins songs ie overdriven garbage with shrill whining
Silversun Pickups "Lazy Eye" is the spiritual successor to this song
Based and yellow pilled
moved on to jrock for a few year at this point
Best pumpkin song comming through
Name more bands with the same sound as Adore
>tfw ypire gonna drink yourself to death listening to pumpkins and mazzy star
Cause it sounds like a cool october evening, a night when the fog is rolling in
And then daybreak
This

>EEEEEEEEE DONT NEED, THAT GIRL
