I like Brad Pitt, but this is just diet Apocalypse Now and an even more diluted Heart of Darkness. Very underwhelmed by this movie, aside from the visual effects obviously

yeah I was pretty uninterested in the story by the end. Pitt's performance was good and maybe the Mars base was neat, but the movie was only exciting/engaging 3 or 4 times
If Brad Pitt was a good actor in a marketable movie, his agent wouldn't need to shill a cartoon image board
NOOOOO BRADU PITT DONT TAKE ME BACK TO THE NURSING HOME
It was alright. I liked the moon part the best but mars pretty cool.
I don't get how fucking pirates existed on the moon when tech was so relatively primitive like where did they get their space training and how did they get food and electricity
who were the space monkeys?
is that what black people evolve into in the future?
based schizo retard. pitt is a great actor btw
Unanswered questions I too want to know the answer to
the visual effects and spaceship design was maybe the only redeeming parts of this shitheap of a movie, why the fuck does this have such positive reviews and people unironically defending it here???
>the only possible reason new films would be discussed on Yea Forums is shilling
I ironically think this is the best film of the year ama.
Gray is interesting when he deals with small scale settings and intimate stuff but he lacks the bigger than life milius energy and bold innovative ideas of Coppola, I don't know why he keeps trying to do apocalypse now when he fails to understand the appeal of the story and remains unable to challenge his own personal limitations
this film’s dialogue and pacing were so fucking bad. i want pitt and this movie in general to be remade with an entirely different screenplay/plot. everything about it aside from the words coming out of the characters’ mouths and the plot was so good and comfy. gray needs to stick to direction
>not dropping all hype for gray/Pitt after that (muh feminism, muh father/son drama, muh unneeded diet trench warfare, not enough amazon scenes, patterson had the redeem the shitty actors) abomination that was lost city of sned
Are you schizophrenic? Your post is terribly written and formatted and I can hardly understand what you’re trying to say.
you probably have the reading comprehension of a dumb nigger ape
>It's like 2001 and Apocalypse Now... on acid
>obsess over ET and heavily hint at it for two hours
>"nah just kidding it was everything we told you it was literally at the beginning of the movie also aliens don't real and your dad really doesn't love or care about you, go back to earth and have sex bro space is gay"
how the fuck could anyone compare that to 2001???
Every single shot from the trailer resembles a shot from a sci-fi movie from the last 20 years. Actors from said movies were brought back for what I guess familiarity?
The space pirates are just troops that countries are putting up and allowing them to raid other coutnries bases to fuck them over.
The money was part of a Norwegian research station doing research they shouldn't be doing.
um excuse me real space kino here
It was ok to me, definitely more of a journey over destination thing it had going.
Where did all the norwegians go? We don't see any of their bodies
They probably turned into monkey poop
rogue nations im guessing. the pirates were probably other countries soldiers. they said the moon was borderless and had territorial disputes
>go back to earth and have sex bro space is gay
kek it's pretty much unironically this
Monkeys ate them.
Just saw it at IMAX. I liked it, but the pacing felt a little off. The character motivations and some really weird plot sequences just didn't make sense to me. It's more of a self discovery and redemption type of film with space as the setting. It looked nice, and I thought it had some interesting ideas but I kept finding myself shaking my head at certain points. If you're an autist it will annoy you though, as the physics are laughable and there we some scenes that added nothing to the film.
>tfw daddy McBride didn't say "I love you son" once after 30 years
What the FUCK man
>I didn't think of home once.
>I know you didn't dad.
Gave me some feels.
Should I watch this or Rambo?
If you want action I'd imagine Rambo has some funny kills. Just saw Ad Astra in IMAX, it was pretty good but the pacing was off, some cheracter motivations didn't make sense and the physics were laughable. 6.5/10.
Is it worth watching in theaters just for the kinography?
How could a space movie be like Apocolypse Now? Does he find his father on a far away planet and the guy's a fat warlord?
Yes it has very nice visuals
Yeah it looks great. Thought it was very well shot.
Three problems I had with the movie.
Why was every character incompetent except for Brad Pitt?
The highjacking sequence at the end was retarded considering that Pitt saved them earlier not to mention the fact that they're fucking ASTRONAUTS. Why would they start fighting?
The juxtaposition between the moon space station with applebees and subways and the moon pirates was really off putting. Why are they're moon pirates?
What was the point of the monkey scene?
The action scenes were silly but I guess they were there to keep it entertaining for normies
>Why was every character incompetent except for Brad Pitt?
He had rank and training. The other astronauts were noobs and were frightened. They took things for granted and were playing around in the ship and were complete wagies. Also, donald sutherland's character was old and the other black dude in the beginning just got unlucky i guess.
>The highjacking sequence at the end was retarded considering that Pitt saved them earlier not to mention the fact that they're fucking ASTRONAUTS. Why would they start fighting?
They had orders. Do I have to spell it out for you?
>Why are they're moon pirates?
In the war zone. They're not everywhere if that's what you're implying.
>What was the point of the monkey scene?
Rage from isolation. I mean he literally said it out aloud. That being said, I thought that was an unnecessary sequence of events.
Yeah that's a problem I had when he got onboard which the whole sequence was kind of whack but they they get out of their seats and start trying to kill him while lifting off. Didn't make a lick of sense. Same thing with the Norwegian station. The entire sequence felt pointless and added nothing to the filn. Not to mention the spaceflight mechanics being stupud as fuck.
>hurr we're flying out to Mars and we can just stop on a dime halfway there to check this random station out
I was literally just sitting there shaking my head.
>They had orders. Do I have to spell it out for you?
These are astronauts. Not retarded army grunts. Just because they had orders doesn't mean they automatically lose any sense of self preservation.
Especially considering that they were still hadn't finished taking off.
>In the war zone. They're not everywhere if that's what you're implying.
My point was that the sequence was rushed. The transition from the spaceport to the war zone doesn't make sense tonally or visually.
>Rage from isolation. I mean he literally said it out aloud.
Okay, I admit I'm pretty retarded for not getting that.
Pacing was fucked. Itcould have been 10/10. Interested if theres a direftors cut.
>My point was that the sequence was rushed
I agree with you there. Felt like they cut some stuff out on the Earth scenes too.
I want to see a director's cut too if it exists. There are some shots and dialogue in the trailers that weren't in the movie.
Watched it yesterday and fucking loved it though
Up there for MOTY so far until Bacurau and/or Uncut Gems come out
