Who gives a fuck about these shitty leprechaun trilogies

what was Isildurs tax policy?

Was there a ring tax?

he was a king you idiot
it would have started a war

Elrond should've just killed him and lied to the elven and human armies outside that Isildur slipped on a wet rock and fell into the lava. Problem solved without an Elven-Human war.

>Isildur takes the ring for himself
>wears it and becomes invisible
>hurr durr why did Elrond just let this fucker walk away with the Ring?
LMAO

Because he had the one ring so he could've just put it on and gone invisible, which would've been more embarrassing for Elrond when he couldn't find him

If Isildur couldn't destroy the ring, what makes you think Elrond could if he managed to take it?

The ring wouldn't make a human invisible you secondary. It does that to hobbits because they're weak.

Virtually no taxes. Isildur funded his kingdom based on his own private assets. This became problematic when Isildur's property was unable to be passed down and the kingdom's military were underfunded and lost to the elite ruling class of Uruks.

Because he would have cunt punched Elrond to Valinor early if he'd raised his hand to him.

That's like asking why doesn't jimmy olsen punch superman.

There wasn't actually a 1v1 situation like this, it's a simplified version of the scene so the audience gets the gist of what each faction did.

>wet rock
>in a volcano

Elrond was already late for his shift at the Keebler factory. Tollhouse Cookies are more important than some dumb ring.

yeah a sweaty rock cause it's so hot

it was a different time, they didn't have the science and knowledge back then

This, Isildur takes the ring and doesn't tell anyone until he shows it to Elrond at a later council where he refuses to part with it.

He also had the ring for almost two years, and traveled all over Middle Earth with it, including Rivendell, before he was attacked and killed and he lost it in the swamp. The movie drops or glosses over most of who Isildur was, and what his story was, he just threw the conflict at Mount Doom scene in, and called it a backstory. Which makes sense, considering how much jackson had to go through and decide to include or not. And it's foreshadowing for the scene at the end with Frodo, Gollum and Sam. Jackson bookended the story with both scenes.

Book purists bitch about this a lot but I don't have a problem with how Jackson chose to adapt this particular piece of middle-earth lore.

Book Bitch here. You are correct, though it hurts to admit it.

Well, if you want the book version, it's because no one, not even Elrond, actually knew that the Ring needed to be destroyed to eliminate Sauron for good. And Isildor's the direct descendant and heir of Elrond's beloved brother Elros. And it's not exactly easy to argue with someone grieving over their father and brother and calling the Ring his weregild.

If you want the movie reason, Jackson's a hack.

Was.. Was this meant to be funny?

>Ha ha Jackson's a hack because he couldn't cram every single aspect of backstory in to a 3 hour theatrical release and 3 and a half hour extended cut

that is just some fan theory that is total bullshit
