Seriously tho, how did this get made in 2017?
It’s literally a $100 million art house movie

Oh my. Any movie not following the trend of overused CGI spectacle is considered "art house" now.. How did we get to this point?

Is it good? Never seen it before and I'm not doing anything tonight

As astra was art house too. It’s worth a watch

Blade Runner is a well-regarded cult classic.

Loud vocal minority and the studio thinking they could bank on the security of a passionate fan base.
The studio saw
>fans of the original wanted a sequel
>attach Harrison Ford and some other big names to the movie to bring in more people
What they should've seen
>high budget sequel to a movie that was a flop thus indicating few people have seen the original and would care at all about this one
>the first one was a cult classic for a reason. Main stream audiences didn't like it thus it failed as would repeating the same thing
The movie looks good, theres no denying that. But the studio was foolish to approve this thinking they could make money.

>sequel
>arthouse

Choose one (1).

No. It almost is. But then it turns out the main character isn't who you think he is and the chosen one is literally a girl in a bubble.
It was decent till the end. The end was a middle finger. Never again

It exists only to satisfy the smooth brains who hated the original because "muh plot" and hijacked the aesthetic

>art house movie
Have a character that exists entirely to explain things

>muh neon lights and permavirgin waifu plot
>arthouse
Pick one

eye candy over substance.
normies buy that shit up.
flashy colors and """"moody"""" shots

Except normies didn’t buy it up at all

>Is it good?
no. story sucks ass and is painfully slow. but the first one also sucked in the same way.

stats say otherwise
it made loads of money

Yes
I'm really enjoying the scifi scene now, never thought I'd say it. I hope Dune is a smash hit and blows the floodgates open for more experimentation and variety. Ad Astra will do pretty good because of the reviews but it's still gonna be pretty niche.

>it made loads of money
It couldn't even hold on to top box office slot against happy death day

it made less than 300 million worldwide, dumbass

>300 million
>not enough
fuck off

No Mexican lead equals none of my pesos I am becoming a very rich man hahaha ha

>art
>house
pick one

Absolutely, offensively plebeian

>2049 only made $92 million domestic

More like 200 mill, you retard.

Denis is Nolan but good, he has carte blanche in Hollwood right now. Baxcked by artsy jews who wanna brag about another Denis epic infront of their lesser jew friends.

>budget 155million
>box office 259million
yes it's a flop

imagine being this fucking dense

Its one of the few sequels who does the original justice. Not the same, but different.

>last thread the usual retard is exposed for starting 2049 hate threads 24/7
>today we had 5-6 "le 2049 is a masterpiece" threads in which the usual suspect could shit on the movie
It really makes you think

Attached: images.jpg (193x261, 10K)

A lot of the right circumstances happened
>Ridley giving just the base ideas for it for years with the original writer
>Ridley being busy with Covenant so he had to find a different director
>Ridley being the executive producer and giving the director absolute 100% full creative directorial control over everything
>the director being connected to the best cinematographers/production designers/sound designers/editors etc in the industry
>the director actually understanding the previous work and making the sequel out of the passion to do so
>absolutely immaculate casting
>the studio being braindead enough to give them all a 150 million dollar budget to do whatever they want with it

It's just a big industry anomaly which we won't see again for a long long time.

it's more like mcdonalds art house you dumb faggot

Imagine wanting to see a movie where the hero who we're made to love the whole film gets a shit taken on his face before he dies at the end

the original was a flop too
cyberpunk doesn't seem to have mass appeal, for some reason

>double your money
>for a movie without substance
it's a good deal

yeah it's pretty great

you barely understand the basic themes of the movie you fucking pleb

blade runner 2049 is absolutely filthy with cgi. they even use it to add dirt to stuff

To accept Villeneuve as a quality director is to garb yourself in a coat of hot pockets and video games and then writhe around on the ground in a supermarket while screeching and slapping yourself on the sides of your head.

He is cheeto dust. Nothing more. Nothing more than a hack, a useful tool for studios to trot out to say "Hey, we're making art house!" I cannot wrap my head around the adulation he receives, let alone the wide praise this has got. The film trudges from set piece to set piece, leaves us no real questions or anything to think about really.

The same bullet that kills a capeshit fan will also kill the Villeneuve and fan. They come from the same root, from the same doritos stained console. They are frauds, and as a warrior of cinema it's my duty to expose the fakes and the inauthentic when I see them. I will fight with crawls and teeth until the last imposter is fallen to the ground I have about as much respect for denis villeneuve as I do for the dogshit on my shoe. It is reddit. It is video game hot pocket. It is capeshit. It is cheeto dust. I'm literally screaming right now and slamming my arms down on my desk just thinking about it.

Imagine sitting next to an Villeneuve fan. The smell as he rubs the cheeto dust into his body in preparation for viewing his "based" movie. The flutter of his fedora as he tips ecstatically as Deakins pans shots in great numbers like one of his video game cutscenes. The sound of him vibrating at the hot pocket resonance every time "based" meme actor is on screen.

It is the most depraved video game infantilized manchild degeneracy. It is saturday morning cartoon. It is non-neurotypicality. It is memes. It is video game. It is tarantino. It is imdb. It is coca-cola puberty. it is axe body spray. it is a white stain on boxer shorts. it is arri alexa hot dog caffeine on disney channel.

>you barely understand the basic themes of the movie
The theme of the movie is not everyone is loved, nor special
Why would I want to watch that? If I want that I'll go outside. The only people that like this movie are people who like a subversive movie experience with an arthouse window dressing
That's why it bombed at the box office

Attached: 1529161093637.png (817x443, 34K)

I loved it.

Attached: blade runner 2049-1.webm (1920x800, 3M)

so did you actually see the movie or just Yea Forums memes

it's basically nuwars but in blade runner format. they needlessly throw in callbacks and the plot even revolves around deckard. it's pretty bad imo they even casted dave bautista of marvel fame

>art house
it's capeshit for pseuds

Attached: oscar.jpg (657x405, 78K)

black panther was better

For a major Hollywood film, fantastic kicking technique.

>Art House
Fuck off. It's pure Sci-fi kino.

>story sucks ass and is painfully slow. but the first one also sucked in the same way.

Attached: 1535784226710.gif (478x350, 84K)

It's less than double and you're missing the marketing budget my dude

And the movie has plenty of substance for non-brainlets like you

Yes, I watched the movie. I thought it would be good the way all the fan boys here talked about it.
And as I said, it wasn't bad. But the ending ruined it for me.
I don't want to watch a movie where the hero is worthless next to some character we see for like 2 minutes the whole film.
Its bait and switch and its just gay
>B-but he did matter cause he reunited harry and his daughter the actual chosen one
Why should I care about Harrison Ford finding his actual child when she's barely in the movie and isn't the main character or even a notable side character?
Oh wait I forgot
>me like art house look and nihilistic undertones

The theme of the film is that thenature of your being doesn't make you special, but the actions you take, as K did in the end you absolute mental midget

>that scene where they’re flying to the scrap yard and they get shot down and Joi starts glitching out
Good stuff, I gotta rewatch the film

2/10 bait no one is this retarded

Look at what has been made from 2016 to now.

No point in explaining a work of cinematic art to retards online.

2049 was a rare gem and a fantastic work of modern filmmaking. It towers above every other big budget release of the past decade.

>gay miniature horse memory plot was 1/3 of the movie
>drawn out muh staring off into space scenes
>ends with us women are gonna rise up!! Revolution Harry Potter Antifa!!
It’s not that good. I’ve seen it twice, one in the theater and once at home and I’ve come to this conclusion.

So is Ad Astra. Go watch it.

Attached: blade runner 2049-bts.webm (972x1080, 504K)

The entire point was that you're more than just the nature of your creation. K was hung up on being "special" and thought that being "born" rather than being "made" would make him special, but being special is a result of your actions and experiences. This is shown through Deckard with Rachael as well as K with Joi. The giant Joi is not K's Joi even though they're both manufactured. K's Joi was realised through her actions and experiences with K and subsequently K realises himself through his own actions, independent of the 2 groups trying to "program" him.

>The theme of the film is that thenature of your being doesn't make you special, but the actions you take
That is what Im referring to you absolute faggot. It is why I hate the movie. K the one who does crap the whole movie and that we actually care about, is ultimately left to die out in the snow at the end by himself because, despite his actions making everything possible, bubble girl is more important
Harrison ford leaves him out there to go see bubble girl.
That's the theme of the movie. You can do any number of amazing things but ultimately people wont care. Its a nihlistic theme, but people here twist it into
>oh he did good and that's enough
no. he deserves to be rewarded, or at least have someone be there as he dies. If he doesn't, then why is he the hero?
The movie literally takes a dump on him at the end of it. But people here ignore it because "muh art house and deep meaning"

Yes, but it's a good mix of CGI and practical, so that the CGI blends in (like it's supposed to.)
Compare that to any given shot in capeshit film where it's 90% CGI that'll look indistinguishable from a video game five years from now.

Holy shit

>ends with us women are gonna rise up!! Revolution Harry Potter Antifa!!
And K literally shits on them.

The resistance serves a narrative purpose, they are there to show how K has to make an individual decision not depending on anyone to truly become special so he denies both Wallace and the rebellion. They are a crucial part of his final character development, where they appoint him to go kill Deckard and he does the literal opposite. Also to show how both sides (Wallace and the rebellion) want to use K as a tool for their own goals, which is reflected in the fact that they both are in water reflected settings and both the rebellion bitch and Wallace are blind in some way or another.

That scene with Krista Kosonen speaking Finnish felt and sounded strangely cringe.

@121291139
yeah terrible bait not responding anymore, give more effort next time

I think you are projecting your own nihilism into the interpretation.
I don't think is fully invalid interpretation but I doubt it's the intent of the author or what most people took from the movie.
I see it more about the choices we make, how they define us in base of the context we are in. Somehow hopeless and not leading to an happy ending but still important for someone and vital for our self-affirmation.

>>ends with us women are gonna rise up!! Revolution Harry Potter Antifa!!
Imagine being this brain damaged by politics. You are the level of the critics shitting on the new Rambo not because it's a shit movie (it probably is) but because SOME spics are depicted as bad guys.
Retardo, the rebels are males and females and more importantly are presented as YET ANOTHER FALSE CHOICE.

He says your brain runna

It is aesthetic. that is all. You have to be in the right mood to see it

>yeah terrible bait not responding anymore, give more effort next time
If you have something to say, say it other wise stfu. Don't just repeatedly claim im fishing for yous.

>cyberpunk
matrix is cyberpunk
Bladerunner is neonoir

It was a sequel. Now you get it.

Harrison Ford is really weak in it. He seems to be ageing terribly acting wise.

youtube.com/watch?v=JbtswJzW4b0

Attached: 1568931663310.webm (1600x1600, 3M)

this.
It actually matters too. If you made the same movie with a new brand name it would have made

his fame and acting has always been sort of a meme

>what is Sanjuro

Nothing to do with it. It's more the plebs not being able to follow even a good middlebrow slow-burner and the journalists calling it sexist or some shit.

I watched all the good parts on Youtube and it was mediocre.

Would more good movies like this be made under socialism? The market obviously isn't reliable.

>Nothing to do with it
It has everything to do with it it. It's a popular cult classic. Making a sequel to soak up cash is why it was made.

>normies buy that shit up. flashy colors and """"moody"""" shots

So I am a normie, because that's what I want.

Attached: blade-runner-2049-movie-image.jpg (3414x2198, 688K)

If this was the case, it would have not been made the way it has been made.
But you are not going to discuss it honestly, you never do.

This guy gets it.

Irrelevant. WHY was it made NOW? Because this is the age of sequels and remakes.

People can criticize it all the want. If this film was made in the 80s or 90s (with technology of that time), people would be fawning over it.

youtube.com/watch?v=bAb8KIhgVAI

Parts of it are good, parts are standard hollywood shit. The villains are awful and the final act is nonsensical and could be out of any budget blockbuster.

But there are whole sequences that sit beside the original, not just repeating but adding to the aesthetic, which is pretty neat.

>when the film first came out people who actually went to see it the theatre loved it and we had amazing threads on Yea Forums
>when it came out on bluray and brain dead morons began torrenting it, you had people shitting up those threads

I hope this is zoomer bait for boomers

I saw it in theatres 3 times and really want to see it there again. how long until these sorts of films are re-released at theatres?

Definitely. Art house films tend to come from countries that fund culture.

It has always been the age of sequels and remake.
The problem is that most writing now is shit.
youtube.com/watch?v=CofZ7xjGyI8

I saw it in my local independent cinema, both Blade Runner films were rescreened in one weekend. The sound system is not comparable to the Dolby experience but it was great nonetheless

>It has always been the age of sequels and remake.
Maybe during your lifetime, zoomer.

If you like Bladerunner you ought to like it

How good was it in IMAX bros? They pulled it before I could go.

Not as good as the original, still worth a watch.

>someone asks for an opinion on a movie
>reply with massive spoiler

Let's just say I'd pay 100 dollars just to experience it again.

Not a zoomer, little boy. But it's true.
Even Yea Forums's most beloved horror, The Thing, was a remake.
But well written, made with passion and willing to do something different.

Luv is by far the most interesting character in my opinion.
You can find her less interesting because the focus was way less on her compared to Roy. Most of hat she felt or aimed to was suggested at best.

Sicario was big money, so was Arrival, BR2049 doing okay was fine for the studio. Denis will do Frank Herbert justice.

Yes.
What he usually does is start a praising or bashing thread then repeatedly samefag like here to bash the movie.
In his autism, he thinks this is going to shift people's opinion on the movie.
It's a sad case.

Tarantiono's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and James Gray's "Ad Astra" are also "$100 million art house movies". It's not that uncommon.

He is overrated as an actor.

Funny, but I think he's gone on record saying he's too old to give a shit about Oscars now

I find it quite funny how she keeps doing fancy high kicks with no results then K just punches her in the chest full force and she goes flying back into the water.

damn I didn't know he did Fargo

more like extremely cute

Can James Gray finally live in a nice house now? I heard he had been just getting by financially because art movies make no money.

Another pleb filtered

I guess the replicants got built with comparable male/female strength factors to humans? Which is a bit strange. Maybe the actual male+female physical forms must have those differences into order to work, or the effect of making the frames creates those results.

It's a bit bullshit he no-sells her kicks that hard on a wet surface, but it's a reasonable depiction of how a rake-thin woman would have to throw full momentum into kicks to generate impact force whereas an in-shape guy just can push out with his explosive upper body strength.

it's closer to capeshit than art house

Surrender.

I brought my 60 year old dad to see it as he loved the first one when he was younger and he said he hated this one. He said it was boring.

It has a lot of nice scenes that let you reflect and form your own opinions on. Yea Forums has probably spoiled a lot of it for you but the character studies are amazing imo. I think a lot of these replies have forgotten that because most of Yea Forums just posts photos and thinks about the colours or JOI posting or whatever but it's a refreshing movie to see. Can anyone explain the hype around this movie? What puts it above the original? It's decent but in terms of aesthetics I way prefer the original's steamy and rusty look to it compared to the cleaner look of 2049, acting was alot better in the first one imo and I personally prefer the originals script way more.

BR2049 is alot better than I expected but It's not really something special, it's not even in my top 10 movies for 2017

story is mediocre and it isn't as memorable as the original, but the overall atmosphere and great sound design definitely makes up for it, plus there's goose in it so i'd say it's worth a watch

Drags on forever and doesn't have anything on the original. Also, there's no fucking point to Jared Leto's character.

It's The Force Awakens for Blade Runner

Why does everyone suddenly hate Leto's performance? Back when it came out everyone said "It's a great recovery from the disaster that was his performance in Suicide Squad"

Watch the movie, you will love it or hate it.

>holy fuck is this the most debatable movie on the board?
no it's objectively shit. the shut in losers who want an AI girlfriend love it because.. wish fulfillment?

That's not an argument at all, faggot. Take your nostalgia glasses off.

First blade runner film he just a detective that really doesn't do detective work, then gets his ass kicked.

Don't get me wrong, I like the first blade runner film, just that Roy and the visuals is what made it a classic.

You don't know what "objective" means. I also hate JOI but loved the movie, so stop projecting.

>That's not an argument at all, faggot. Take your nostalgia glasses off.
Nobodies arguing with you, dork - I'm here to talk shit and make fun of you, go back to r3ddit

The film was fantastic.

It was an exploration of what it means to be human. It was personal, haunting, and dark.

Complaints of Leto's performance fall on deaf ears for me. Villeneuve is a consummate professional. Are you familiar with his work? He had Leto give him what he wanted. It had purpose. I have not heard anyone spell it out, so I'm not sure I'm sure if I'm supposed to. Should one spoon feed the mouth-breathers? Anyhoozlebee, Leto's character was the antithetical "development." He was a man who was "becoming" a robot/android. Do you understand? He was less human than the androids. The majority of the film explored what it would take for an android to be considered human. Leto's character was going the other way.

Bit off-topic:
This was a more "difficult" film than the original. Just out of curiosity, which ending(s) did Yea Forums see with the original?

>You don't know what "objective" means. I also hate JOI but loved the movie, so stop projecting.
she was the only even redeeming factor, the messaging and plot tied to her were pathetic attempts to relate to girlfriendless losers
It felt forced and gross and not for me or anyone who fucks

Dumb fuck, almost every woman in the film with a speaking line wanted to fuck K. You are projecting just as much as the incels you bitch about.

>Dumb fuck, almost every woman in the film with a speaking line wanted to fuck K.
timestamp one, senpai

>Nobodies arguing with you
You are.
>go back to r3ddit
Yawn. Meaningless insult.

>Yawn. Meaningless insult.
>literal comic book guy

blade runner 2049 has no soul
blade runner had
the art work design in blade runner was 40's style and punk rock
This was totally lost in this movie
Visually it was something meaningless

No Country won Best Picture that year you fucking retard.

>Visually it was something meaningless
not to mention the lack of true deep blacks, the overdone hyper colourized try hard as fuck palette and the general obtuse overwritting that only people who fancy themselves intellectuals and faggots think is deep maaaaaan

Oh, shut up. What a retarded qualification.

best movie of the decade

The prostitute, Joshi, and Luv were interested.

>best movie of the decade
who are you, literally who are you people
I don't want to hear about the movie or your thoughts on it any more
are you fit? good looking? have a great job? a satisfying relationship?
yes to any of those?

no to all and I still think it's hot trash version of Drive

Why are you interested in our personal lives?

>Why are you interested in our personal lives?
because I have a sneaking suspicion that the only people who like this movie are people who should be dumped in the fucking ocean to spare the world their inane faggotry

Attached: Blade Runner 2049 - Luv rejected.webm (1280x530, 2.56M)

>no to all and I still think it's hot trash version of Drive
hahaha, that's a fucking great line - you're an honorary chad bro, you just dont know it
start lifting, and eating right - I believe in you

Luv in the archive room
K Boss made a pass at him
the hooker wanted him
Joi of course.

>people still think she was flirting and not mocking him
the autism is real

Yes to all of those.

I would say this is probably in the top 15 movies ever made..My only complaint with this movie is that it does feel like it's just 15-20 minutes a tad too long.

user, I am married with kids, and I and everyone I know who watched it took it as K turning down her advance.

I saw this 3 times in the cinema.
The first time there were about 20 people in there, the second just a few random singles like me and a couple or 2, the third I had the entire cinema to myself

>the autism is real
that's my point, everything people tell me they like about it im like... how the fuck did you get that out of watching it?
denis is clearly austistic so it's essentially the citizen kane for beady eyed autists

The cinema takes around half of the earnings. There's also marketing

>Yes to all of those.
nice, so you just have terrible taste in movies, got it

How is Kurosawa arthouse in any way, other than being "foreign". He made Samurai Star Wars for fuck's sake.

I don't think I will ever forget seeing the very first shot of K walking up to Deckard's hideout in theaters. Good lord what a gorgeous film.

You are free to think that. Your opinion means little to me and anyone else reading this, I would imagine though.

Why would she be mocking him? She doesn't even know him at that point of the film. She also calls him a "good boy" to Joshi, spares his life multiple times, and kisses him on the lips.

She had a clear fixation with him.

You call us inane yet post this shit? If you are acting like a baby. Kill yourself.

Why would she be mocking him?

>She clearly flirting with him.
>She just met K
>her actions later in the movie indicate she has a perhaps unhealthy fixation on him.

I mean, when My wife saw it she said "aww, the female robot likes the male robot"

Perhaps you the one who autistic and doesn't know when women are making passes at you?

>You call us inane yet post this shit? If you are acting like a baby. Kill yourself.
cut deep huh
like I said I don't take this movie or anyone who thinks its good seriously
I'm here to mock your sad, grad school level taste in movies

>Perhaps you the one who autistic and doesn't know when women are making passes at you?
it happens so often its hard to keep track of all the missed opportunities

I'm really starting to think that there is some real autism going around this fanbase. Luv and Joshi were clearly into K, but people on here completely misread their interactions with him. It's fascinating really.

Also, mocking is a form of flirting, so even if she was mocking him, she could have still have been interested.

You type like a retard and are emotionally invested in what films other people like. You have a grade school mentality, so shut the fuck up.

>and are emotionally invested in what films other people like
except I'm literally not, I think you're dumb for liking something so banal and souless

don't feed the troll

You desperately want other people to not like what you don't like, so you resort to childish tactics. Sad!

乇乂ㄒ尺卂 ㄒ卄丨匚匚

>You desperately want other people to not like what you don't like, so you resort to childish tactics. Sad!
could care less, I'm bored and I think its a really uninteresting movie. I'm much much more interested in the specific psychological profile of the kind of person who fathoms this half way decent cinema

>could care less
You should care less. You caring is the problem, e-psychologist.

>Everytime a gunshot was shot in the IMAX screens and you could feel the vibration throughout your entire chair and body

Attached: 1395689661556.png (277x416, 163K)

The only thing I liked about the action in this movie was the sound effect for his gun. Everything else was tension less garbage.

She was pretty good, it's hard to beat Rutger Hauer at peak performance though

>it's hard to beat Rutger Hauer at peak performance though
Not hard if they had just given Batista a main role. Fucker had the best scene in the film yet got like 2 minutes of screen time for some reason.

The plot wasn't about him, hence the lack of screentime.

Batty is a boring and one-dimensional antagonist

At least Dune will be good for wide angle sweeping shots of the vast dessert of Arrakis if for nothing else. I hope they manage to give the worms a decent sense of scale

Most of Jared Leto's scenes could have been cut without missing anything.

If original is a dumbed down adaptation of 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' then this is a dumbed down adaptation of 'Pale Fire'.
Very bad and boring

Attached: 1556258792350.jpg (500x739, 65K)

I saw it twice and had the opposite experience. First time there was maybe 15 people, then I saw it with my friend and it was packed.

If you like establishing shots you'll like it for the pretty pictures. If not you'll waste your time on dull characters, a lack of plot and a pathetic finale.

Best way I can describe it is it’s fucking incredible in a theatre but I’ve tried to watch it twice at home and got bored both times. Better as an experience than an actually movie if that makes any sense.

>Best way I can describe it is it’s fucking incredible in a theatre
I walked out halfway through
shit was gay af

>don't explain your opinion or points, everyone who disagrees is stupid!!!!
This is some 40IQ shit.

Its just that people who like 2049 are plebs.

>This is some 40IQ shit.
I disagree and youre not only gay, but also likely very gay

>Its just that people who like 2049 are plebs.
faggots too

That's the story of most of human history. There is a class of the enlightened ones and a pleb class. It's obvious which one you fit into (the latter).

t. never read Pale Fire

>There is a class of the enlightened ones and a pleb class. It's obvious which one you fit into (the latter).
imagine typing that unironically and thinking yeah, got eeeeem

>he deserves to be rewarded, or at least have someone be there as he dies. If he doesn't, then why is he the hero?
Imagine being this much of a retard.

A hero doesn't do heroic things because they want to be rewarded or praised you absolute fucking mong.

>A hero doesn't do heroic things because they want to be rewarded or praised you absolute fucking mong.
would you even go so far as to say he was a real human bean? you pleb cine loving cunt

And that is the typical pleb chimpout reaction, right on cue.

That's exactly the ancient Greek conception of heroism.

Ancient Greeks didn't invent heroism.

>And that is the typical pleb chimpout reaction, right on cue.
hahaha, fuckin what? please bro, stop the cringe, its its too much
>That's exactly the ancient Greek conception of heroism.
this, these capeshit incel knowitalls don't read famalam,

>Ancient Greeks didn't invent heroism.
please, user - do tell us about your heroic feats and life adventures

No one claimed that but Ancient Greece is the progenitor of most of the Western story telling canon.

I don't give a fuck what some ancient incels thought about the meaning of heroism on their waifu debate forums.

Meaning of words change. A hero is someone that does good deeds selflessly.

>Ancient Greece is the progenitor of most of the Western story telling canon.
so basically they literally did invent it, got it

>please, user - do tell us about your heroic feats and life adventures
What the fuck does this even mean? I wasn't around during the times of Ancient Greece, first of all. Second, what do my actions have to do with anything? You argue in nothing but non-sequiturs.
Ancient Greece was brought up. I couldn't care less if K wasn't given a pat on the head at the end of the movie. The audience, Deckard, and Deckard's daughter know what he did, and that's all that matters.

>A hero is someone that does good deeds selflessly.
no, that's your white knite faggot version to keep you convinced your actions aren't weak and cowardly
heros do shit because they want to be remembered and revered and respected, whatever else to tel yhourself is literal cope

from a western perspective yes but the chinese and arabs and aztecs probably thought different

>I wasn't around during the times of Ancient Greece, first of all
oh ok, so because it's not ancient time you cant be a hero, you sound so smart and handsome user with your debate 101 big words and pedantic faggotry

How is doing a selfless deed cowardly? You are a fucking idiot.

It's good until Ford shows up and it just nosedives into the concrete.

>from a western perspective yes but the chinese and arabs and aztecs probably thought different
I know, I'm being sarcastic. heroicism is an archtype that transcends culture and it occurs for many many reasons, fame and glory being among them

I've only seen this movie once but never understood what it had to do with Pale Fire outside of the fact that both main characters have a perceived history of themselves which is likely bullshit

>How is doing a selfless deed cowardly? You are a fucking idiot.
bro you have this weird selective reading thing that borders on mentally illness, try relaxing and not sperging out using your midwit level iq

>oh ok, so because it's not ancient time you cant be a hero
That wasn't my argument, you literal retard. No point you make or conclusion you come to makes any logical sense.
>you sound so smart and handsome user with your debate 101 big words and pedantic faggotry
"Non-sequitur" is a big, fancy word now? One doesn't even have to go to college to realize that none of your arguments make any sense.

It's one of the best movies I've seen the last few years in the theatre

We had a $250 million art house movie in 2016, so I’m not sure what’s so surprising

yeah, you are are probably correct. I just don't know enough about the non-western perspectives to comment on them with any sort of authority.

I'm not arguing, I'm right. Handsome too. logic is for small petty minds and faggots

>bro you have this weird selective reading
Faggot, that's what YOU posted.
>no, that's your white knite faggot version to keep you convinced your actions aren't weak and cowardly
Or did you mean something else?

>I just don't know enough about the non-western perspectives to comment on them with any sort of authority.
you know enough user, hero with a thousand faces by joeseph campbell might peak your interest if you're looking for a decent book on the subject

It was made in eastern europe too. Which means it's as if it was a billion dollar movie made in america.
