Cobra cuts away during the real violent stuff. The long laserdisc version (which somehow doesn't exist as a download on the internet) is 40 minutes longer, has a shitload of gore in it and is a entirely different movie.

I thought original Cobra already got an undeservedly bad rep. It's not a "good" movie as such, but it's hell of an interesting movie with a unique, almost surreal style. Way better than the average action shitfest they churned out in those days.
