i dont rate or rank films because i haven't watched one for about 5 years so if i put even my favourite one it's like, someone else who enjoyed it not me really. my point isn't that these are bad films but these are films that we were actually shown in school, that the teacher chose. Like Gattaca is a good movie but after being shown it by 3 different science teachers in year 7 8 and 9, it seems strange to see it on someone's personal list. it's like seeing catcher in the rye or whatever. it's part of the syllabus. what's the point of your list if it's just all the 'culturally significant works designated by the library of congress'
LA confidential i was shown at school, training day, truman show,

>Gattaca is a good movie but after being shown it by 3 different science teachers in year 7 8 and 9
What the fuck sort of school did you go to where you just watched movies all day in SCIENCE class?

ok i will list some movies that i really enjoyed and raved about even though i probably wouldn't enjoy them now. also i'm only going off the first 2/3 of a movie since the 'climax' parts are universally shit and i tune them out
>edge of tomorrow
>once upon a time anatolya
>stalker
>alien
>mission impossible 1

i dunno, there are other films i can think of that were a huge hit with me but i just can't remember anything about them now so i can't honestly list them. like idi smotri, 2001, in the loop, 24 hour party people

1. The Tree of Life
2. Melancholia
3. Synecdoche, NY
4. Barry Lyndon
5. Apocalypse Now
6. Vertigo
7. In the Mood for Love
8. Taxi Driver
9. It's such a beautiful day
10. Paris, Texas

Kinda random off the top of my head, I'm sure it'd be different if I really sat down for it, and I also tried to limit it to 1 film per director max and tried to include several genres.

Sicario
28 Days Later
Stalag 17
Half Nelson
Take Shelter
Sunset Boulevard
The Talented Mr. Ripley
Children of Men
The Fugitive
Skyfall

I like these

I went to a private school and we rarely watched films in class.
Truman Show = Gnosticism, btw.

Thanks user, love everything on your list as well. Was debating putting Jesse James on mine too, and 2001 or TTRL could've made it if I didn't stick to 1 per director rule.

>yi yi
