THE LONELY SHADOWS GROW

Oh boy I can’t wait to see our protagonists take down or atleast expose organization who’s doing these killings and not just catch some hick faggot who’s a lackey!!!

HIDDEN IN THE BRANCHES

OF THE POISED ON CREOLE SOLE

That show takes place in Louisiana.
They got a lot of dusty mesas in Louisiana? Do they even have dusty mesas in East Texas?

Am i the only one who wanted to see the Time Eater/Cosmic Horror side of things more developed? S1 really felt as if there was something greater at play and maybe it's meant to be like that but i would have liked to have more than the suggestion of it.

TD season 1 is literally the greatest TV ever made. I buy a pack of Lone Star and marathon it once a year

The only possible criticism is the last episode and reveal of the killer is somewhat generic compared to how it was set up, I wanted something more esoteric, spiritual, and lovecraftian. Still great though.

>Do they even have dusty mesas in East Texas

No but they have tons in West Texas.

t. been all around state of texas

>still filtered after all these years
user pls

>gets dabbed on by season 2

but that's the extent of good altruist good guys can hope to achieve irl

I still haven't watched Season 3. Is it as utter dogshit as S2?

2>1>3

Then don’t build it up like there’s going to be a pay off
>b-bug-but muh themes!!!!
Don’t care, shows good but the ending ruins it.

nothing was ruined, you aren't missed

"from the wet swamps" doesn't sound as good does it

Yeah. It was

>he doesn't see the importance in the denial of catharsis

I've never seen this show, What I'm in for?

Attached: 1554028766200.jpg (355x241, 40K)

Look I get what it was going for, it’s still shit in my opinion. They didn’t “stop” anything. The killings are still going to continue

I think that's pretty much why people keep tuning in every 2-5 years when a season comes out. We're all wondering when they'll explore this. Doesn't help that they keep hinting at it in every season as well.

Stop avatar fagging and watch it.

Then you'll wish you'd never watched it so you could watch it again for the first time.

rude

How did this character interact with the others as he has a chemical plant for a head?

1>3>2

Its feels a lot like S1, but it never hits the same highs that S1 did, though it does have some kino moments. Also the ending is perfectly designed to troll the sort of people who really wanted S1 to end with Cthulu coming to earth.

Is that the maw?

Childhood is self-inserting as Rust.
Adulthood is realizing that Marty grapples with the flaws of the everyman and is a more relatable and interesting character, while Rust is just a fantastical special snowflake composed entirely of cliches.

t. got his lawn mowed by another man

s02 is big pleb filter lol

>tragic past
>edgy and antisocial but it's endearing because he's handsome and tragic
>is a damn good detective who understands fucked up crimes a little too well and works the case obsessively
>has problems with authority which leads to the classic 'MY OFFICE, NOW' type encounter
>worked in narcotics, the most BADASS police unit so you know he's seen some SHIT
>worked undercover but he was under for too long!!
>has ability to beat anyone in a fight and is an expert burglar
>has an almost magical ability to mysteriously read people and get into their heads
>has insomnia, the most fashionable sleep disorder
>does drugs and drinks (tragically)
>spews entry-level existentially nihilistic and anti-natalist views
>hallucinates for some reason
>is revealed in one scene to be synesthetic (the absolute most special snowflake of afflictions), which never serves any purpose to the plot
The writers just had a field day here, I'm probably forgetting things too.

why does this board defend season 2 so hard?
>m-muh Vince Vaughn & Collin Farrell

I'm a 22 year old and self inserted as Rust so I agree with you on that one

I always saw that particular shot as symbolism for Marty's struggle with infidelity. You can see that the shape of the highway is in similar shape to that of the traditional womb, and the sexual suggestion from that shape is within Marty here in this shot, an internal struggle.

Kino.

It has it's moments. It's just that S1 is so far above everything else, S2 looks poor in comparison but it remains good television.

Attached: not real.jpg (719x462, 38K)

>They didn’t “stop” anything. The killings are still going to continue
I'm OK with this but Rust's newfound optimism at the end and his quote that it seems like the light is winning seemed out of character and completely unwarranted. Especially given the point you made that they only got rid of a mentally fucked and entirely replaceable "collector" for a much more powerful group, which one would assume Rust would have had to have been thinking to himself given that he learned everything about the cult before he even guessed who the killer was.

>or identify with le 200IQ loner nihilist who is above it all and smells the psychosphere but can't resist when Marty's hot wife is taking advantage of him
Marty is definitely the more realistic character though

>has an almost magical ability to mysteriously read people and get into their heads
it's explicitly stated he could smell the psycho's fear.

>Take off that dress..
>let it fall on the wooden floor

laffed

best opening of any show I've ever seen.
just finished watching season 1 for the first time today. what a ride. basically an 8 hour movie, and a really good one at that.
gonna watch season 2 and 3 now even though everyone here seems to hate them.

Litetally me

why he didn't just suicide?

reddit fucking show
like all the fucking tv shows there are
fuck off

S3 was great but there is 0 pay off to the investigation, like its all explained in a 10 minute exposition dump with nothing to hint at it before hand.

take it easy

implying you could resist the DDDD

>The killings are still going to continue
The cult was defunct. Anyone involved was dead or long removed from it. All that was left was a couple retards who were also victimized and later participated in it that were carrying on.

Lacked constitution

>which never serves any purpose to the plot
He knows they have the right place when he smells the aluminum and ash again

youtube.com/watch?v=tqHIHTBrA58
Literally me

if every show here is a reddit show wouldn't that make them Yea Forums shows

>has an almost magical ability to mysteriously read people and get into their heads
He doesn't tho, he just listens to them, something a lot of the cops in the serie aren't able to do (i.e the black man cutting the killer when asking for a way out of the woods)

this lmao

An external production company that specialises in openings did it so I'm not sure there was that much thought put in, user.

They caught one of the branch but the tree is going strong. Theye nded the Ledoux business but the Tuttle are probably still in.

Other shots included that retarded manchild getting shot at and Rust's head burning. It was probably thought out

Kino is a flat circle

As someone who works in film production, things like that were definately thought of

That scene where they revealed his room with the "Past a certain age..." hit a little too close home

Attached: 1548110927366.jpg (231x218, 10K)

It's worse.
1>2>3
Anything else is sheer cope and contrarianism.

Amazing how kino is so simple to make yet so many people fail due to their obsession with subversion.

Don't worry user, they even say 'can be a bad thing' so you'll probably be fine

Is bayou that scary?

>They didn’t “stop” anything. The killings are still going to continue
smart boy! you figured it out! that's how it works in real life. closure never comes and nobody lives happily ever after

oh yeah, the south is spooky in general. fuck that region in particular.

it also just looks like a cool skull

They captured that feeling very well, with the abandoned house and isolated people like the crab fisher

>rust is shown as a death seeking nihilist willing to piss on the shoes of the biggest cronies he comes across
>doesn't send the video tape to every cop station and news outlet in the country
>doesn't kill the senator or start hunting down the other epstein types

I like how they're afraid to go that last logical step for fear of inspiring some Hinkleys into doing good

>>doesn't send the video tape to every cop station and news outlet in the country
They did after the end of the case

>doesn't kill the senator or start hunting down the other epstein types
He died after Rust's return in 2010

wtf user?

youtube.com/watch?v=LiKeMWSIkvo

I related so hard during this scene. Kinda refutes this I think. Both guys are basically just seasoned detectives but besides that are more relatable than 99% of TV characters, even TD season 2's.

>the skulls are dabbing
I will never unsee this

Especially since Marty is the real protagonist, he understands and agrees with everything Rust says, he just want to keep believing.

The thing is none of it is real. At least in the central belief of the show/Rust’s ethos if we are to lean on him and sort of pick up what he says. Women and children were being killed, Reggie and Dewall cooked meth, Dora Lang was brought in and then killed that’s all we know to be true. We don’t know for a fact if the Yellow King effigy ever came to life or something. All we can assume is it was given the meaning that it had by Errol and the cult members because of some spiritual reason not because some actually Lovecraft shit was going down.
When Rust hallucinates the swirling black star in Carcosa that’s not a ‘portal’ or proof of some kind of “hey the yellow king is actually not just some bones in the woods it’s real” tentacles and mind control. No. That was Rust’s brain playing tricks on him.

>utter dogshit as S2
the S2 pleb filter really has no expiration date

I think this is why I want a happening to happen. I need something in my life worth living for and these guys got that case.

What did Rust mean by this? There werent any Irish people on the show. Did I miss something?

5 > 3 > 1 > 4 > 7 > 2 > 8 > 6

>has an almost magical ability to mysteriously read people and get into their heads

He literally mentions and beats himself over the fact that he didn't recognize the yellow king the first time they met him (when he was mowing down the lawn of the old school or something)

kek

That wasn't the yellow king, that was just a retarded hillbilly lackey
