What utter bollocks, the Argentine troops defending Goose Green, whilst conscripts with the exception of their (professional airborne/commando) NCOs and Officer cadre, were still trained soldiers. They were no more 'kids' than the Paras were, who like most infantry regiments, have a lot of young ptes. On top of that, one of their companies was a commando unit.
Argentine positions were well constructed and supporting artillery was laid in, the conditions they were living in were significantly better than what the Paras had been subject to tabbing across half the fucking islands in the lead up to the attack. If you think you get a bit wet and chilly sitting in a trench in shit weather, try being out in the open in the same.

At the time of the attack, the UK aircraft carriers were in UK/med waters, and it took some time for them to sail to the falklands.
The invasion happened 2 April, the Buck raids happened May 1st when the general air work opened, and the invasion didn't happen till later that month.
