Recently had to reset my PC back to factory. Thinking about trying something other than VLC, what do you guys use for your kino viewing pleasure?

just stick to vlc lmao
VLC is best
For me, it is Netflix on Google Chrome.
VLC is dogshit
MPC-HC
for me? it's freefilmsmoviesandteevee.net
Are you at least outputting to a TV? If you just watch it on your monitor, I don't think there's much difference, although I personally prefer the minimal interface of MPC-HC.
all my porn on vlc
who here /potplayer/
I have a TV and a projector I switch up now and then
Aceplayer
>VLC is dogshit
Why?
mpv with really autistic /g/-certified scripts and config.
unless I need to open rar files or cast, yes.
MPC-HC is dead
based videophile autist
kind of, but there's a fork that gets updates occasionally
github.com
but there is absolutely no reason to use it over mpv (or mpv.net for gui fags)
>VLC is dogshit
I've never seen anyone explain why.
>vlc, virgin losers coping
lmao unless you tryna be a virgin loser you won't use vlc! worldstar!!! GOT HIS ASS
get SMPlayer, much better than VLC.
memes aside, vlc is perfectly fine. the issue is that vlc offers basically nothing over mpc-hc/mpc-be with madvr or mpv.
the main reason i don't use or recommend vlc (or mpc-hc for that matter) is that it has god awful youtube-dl support.
ytdl is really convenient for picture-in-picture video watching and on-the-fly playlists from different websites (i.e. porn). webm related
i hate watching videos in the browser where i can't even change the video saturation or freely choose the playback speed. i also got used to audio normalization (you know when there's a quiet part in a movie trailer and you can't hear shit, so you turn up the volume and then some gunshots blow away your headphones and ears all of the sudden - audio normalization fixes that)
Watching it on a nice TV not your computer like a poor person.
Just use mpv, it plays any file and has keyboard shortcuts for everything, literally everything.
Skipping, returning seconds or even frames, screenshots, subdelay, changing subs, everything is waaayy easier to manage than fucking vlc.
Vlc has failed me to play certain movies of a high filesize and bitrate.
MPC-HC x64
>flawless performance
>never crashes like VLCuck
>great mod capabilities
>renders anything and everything out of the box
I use mpv on linux or Smplayer in windows
>kino
i almost wanted to help you
chrome fucks with the compression when i watch netflix on it so i use the windows app store version of netflix and can watch 4k quality movies on it
Vlc
almost dead but still useful
why the FUCK can't you stream in 1080p on chrome
yeah dude sick thanks n*tflix let me just dust off fucking edge if i want to watch something in full hd
Any links or guides on how to setup mpv to work in browser like that.
I just use it to play media files 'cause am retarded.
What you do looks clean though
I'm retarded? I find this player too heavy, maybe because I don't have a video card.
>watching flicks
>not watching kinos
sticking out like a sore thumb there, danny. you never did strike me as a kino type of guy
Just use Windows Media Player, there’s no need to overcomplicate things.
try MPV, but don't get rid of VLC. have them both
i use the shinchiro git build, which comes with an updater for both mpv and youtube-dl
mpv.io
if you want to keep your current version of mpv (git can be unstable sometimes), just drop the youtube-dl.exe in your mpv folder or install youtube-dl if you're on linux
github.com
after that's done, you can install this browser extension (which is what i'm using)
github.com
or this one, which is way easier to set up
addons.mozilla.org
or this one, which is the most minimalistic
addons.mozilla.org
the first two addons are available on firefox and any chrome/chromium based browser afaik
>Korean botnet
Use mpv or vlc
This would have been the correct answer in 2015.
>accidentally open something in mpv as it came preinstalled in kubuntu
>hell yeah, slick look, let me full screen that
>double click works fine
>realize I need to stop a video in firefox so i can actually hear the movie
>double click
>nothing happens
>double click again
>nothing happens
>right click, mmb, alt+tab, sys monitor to shut it down
>the thing doesn't bulge a bit
>try pressing q
>bricks my whole window manager
I had to reboot from terminal. 10/10
Enjoy your cinavia audio stops lmao
Thanks, I've used youtube-dl on windows with the basic command line extensively to download playlists and stuff like 4K vids.
Since I already have some settings in mpv i'll try and copy my youtube-dl .exe files and see if it works.
>kubuntu
found the issue
vlc actually failed to render 4k videos without issue on my pc, whereas mpc was perfect
The issue is also partially in the fact that I'm a complete retard and installed the thing out of sheer curiosity, even though I can barely do the basics.
For me, it's MPC-BE with MadVR.
The biggest pro about mpv is the spacebar for pauze and arrowkeys to skip 5 sec or 1 min.
I hate having to touch my pc mouse when jacking off
literally remap the keys
you can have multiple mpv versions/folders at the same time, they would all use the same config/settings without any problems.
but it doesn't really matter, you'll just have to manually download the latest ytdl should it ever stop working, the devs are usually pretty quick with fixing things.
voice control fucking when
fucking based
Just master the left hand mouse control, my man.
or stop jacking off so much. Said this so we can have a single thread without the fucking coomposters.
>Limits cache to 200kbits
>This shit can't run my jewrays
Being this retarded
VLC sound processing is fucking shit. I didn't realize this until I switched to potplayer.
It sounds like you guys don't know how to increase the buffer. I changed it from 300 to 1000 and have never had an issue since.
PotPlayer and I never looked back.
mpv still its shit at least in windows, i fell for this meme player because /g/ shitposted about it but is media player autism mode(no gui, muh h4xx0r media player), i like mpc and vlc because are comfy af specially because i like to see foreign and old movies/series and the download not always include the subs then vlc and mpc have options to search and download subtitles automatically without search on google(vlc needs a plugin), vlc can delay/advance the subs because not always the subs are sinchronized with the media, mpc can only delay the subs, vlc can play from stream sources this is very useful when you found the sub but can't find the media to download and also can apply filters
mpv maybe have all of those functions and more but the gui is almost non-existent and can not be notice and i dont wanna write commands every time i need those functions
but for real, can you replace pic related?
Are you also able to right click -> send to MPV on youtube? Not working for me outside of Yea Forums.
still hurts how shit and bloated winamp become.
the first versions are the best music player ever
Installed MPV and all the bindings are different from what the manual says and also retarded. Mouse wheel skips forwards or backwards 10s, rightclick pauses, leftclick does jack shit, arrow jump around 7s etc. Did I fuck something up?
github.com
>options to search and download subtitles automatically
github.com
github.com
github.com
etc
>delay/advance the subs
default bind z and x, see image. can be mapped to whatever you want
>vlc can play from stream sources
youtube-dl
i bet vlc can't play streams from pornhub or spankbang. mpv+youtube-dl can (see my comments above)
>can apply filters
mpv can use any and all ffmpeg filters and cycle through any and all filters with a single key if you wanted to
ffmpeg.org
>gui
github.com
github.com
or chinkshit, if you dare
github.com
yes, that works fine for me. it should work on practically any link on any website, i used it on sad panda in the past for example.
i don't see why it wouldn't work, maybe some other addon is interfering? if you haven't done so, reload tabs/restart your browser.
what? just tick off the things you dont need and dowload the ebonite skin
MPV is notoriously unstable. Get potplayer.
>but muh lunix and muh open source
literally every mpv user
Go ahead and download one of the 4K demos from here and play it on your favorite media
player.
Probably stuttered and was shit, right? Well there's one media player that plays it perfectly. mpv
thanks sir, now i can see my capeshit and blacked 4k videos
VLC was able to play it perfectly. Get fucked.
>Using VLC
>PC back to factory
>PC
>factory
>i don't see why it wouldn't work, maybe some other addon is interfering?
I think it was the fact that I was using the send to mpv player add-on instead of Open With. Got it working, thanks.
>vlc
POTPLAYER op, better than vlc for years and still really good. very powerful player.
so powerful infact that I have a hard time figuring out how to use subtitles with it.
It does play everything perfectly on those instances that vlc starts to lag and lock up for no fucking reason.
This.
Except smplayer is really just a front end to mplayer, and if you were hard core you would just call mplayer direct from command line.
>--preset placebo
no wonder why
Literal fucking russian botnet lmao
I use SMPlayer with mpv as the codec or whatever
PotPlayer
bsplayer
Press F to not be a retard.
Only retards and losers from /g/ use that trash.
VLC Works perfectly fine and is far better compared to this crappy garbage mpv.
Poor mpvfags i feel sorry for them they try so hard shilling this rubbish software but they always fail because everyone always prefers VLC.
/potplayer/ rise up
big fan of pot player. i use a skin so the collapsible playlist is on the left. just depends on it u have an extended view. great player imo
back when vlc would shit the bed while playing 4k content i made the switch to pot player. so ive been using it for a few years now
