The photo wasn't doctored because it was never released to the public or intended to be found. The picture you posted is from a decade later. Stalin would have had pockmarks, but its likely in the original photo its just the light and angle, or Stalin was wearing make-up, which wasn't uncommon in those days.

He was way worse. He killed more people, and his OWN people. Hitler killing people is horrible, not way around it, but at least they were strangers who were alien to German spirit and culture, the equivalent to him of invaders. Killing invaders is pretty common throughout history. To kill 3x more people, and of your own people, in a similar way (starvation, murder, internment) is way way worse. I hate them both, but Stalin is worse top to bottom.
