There was a pretty big case here where a guy killed his wife and the daughter either helped or helped clean up and dispose of the body. the daughter did a lot of fake crying in the interviews, but when the detectives talked about specific evidence like finding blood splatter under fresh paint or how her SIM had been tracked to where the body was dumped she'd stop instantly and ask questions back like she was thinking ahead to how it would go in court.

As it did go she changed her story from "I know nothing, I was in Singapore" to "it was all daddy" when she realised she was fucked. But both stories were bullshit.

psych tests aren't a big deal, they may as well call them personality tests because it's just an out for an employer to exclude a candidate for any reason they see fit.
I've known people who have failed the psych tests for government positions and law enforcement and they're all normalfags.

There was a guy in a shithole town who beat his girlfriend so badly one morning she told the hostpital that she'd got hit by a truck, and they believed her. That night at about 2am he walked into the police station and just said "I killed the fucking kids". He took the cops to the town cemetary and he'd hung the woman's two kids (they weren't his) from a tree. Little boy was about 6, little girl was about 9. The girl had fought hard and managed to get a toe on the ground and wasn't cold so the cops tried to revive her for 20 minutes while waiting for the ambulance. But she was dead. The same poor bastard cops had to then drive the guy to the next town (about 350kms away) so the kid's family didn't break in to the station and lynch him. Word had got ahead of them before they got there though (extended families), so they had to fly him to the capital.

What was most surprising is how calm people usually were when interviewed or when a search warrant was being done. Very little anger or threats.

The good cop/bad cop thing in interviews doesn't really happen, because they aren't allowed to really even raise their voice. So what actually happens is "friendly cop" and "direct cop". One will do most of the talking and be fairly friendly and sound understanding. The other will cut in only every now and then with a direct question or to say something isn't true. It's frankly amazing how well it works.

In the interviews he looked like a harmless, gray haired old bloke, joking and laughing. He looked like Orinoco the fucking womble. No history of crime, never been in a fight. Killed his own son and then went off to watch the game.

Being drunk isn't like being sedated, the reason drunks are rowdy is because inebriation is like a rollercoaster where you are briefly lucid etc. If youve ever been drunk and made a huge mistake (I once tripped and almost fell into a freezing river) the adrenaline will make you 100% sober for several minutes.
