The first episode is the worst, the rest is season one is a bit weak, they're stumbling around quite a bit in trying to find their niche and not being a Family Guy clone, but by the 3rd episode it gets alright and the second season feels very strong. By the 3rd season they have shit down pat

That episode was weirdly touching, not to be a fag or anything. Reminded me of Inner Light. Scott's character basically experiences another life from the past, and despite how attached he grows to it, it's in the past, and he has to come to accept that.

more or less this. I was watching week-to-week early on because it was on after FG. I didn't like it much but each episode had at least one really good line that (I didn't know at the time) foreshadowed how amazing the show would become. the episode "Finances With Wolves" (the muffin kiosk one) was the episode where I really considered myself a fan.
