Because people who were born in the 70s and late 60s are at the point in their careers where they can take the lead on projects, as well as having the knowledge to easily create believable 80s settings and designs. Plus it breeds itself, creating false nostalgia for the 80s in younger people who consume products created by people with genuine 80s nostalgia.
