I expected cool military action. Instead I got camo guys singing karaoke.
Generation Kill
I didn't understand the football game in the end.
Rudy is a faggot
Ray got his ass kicked by a faggot.
I LOVE YOU FRUITY RUDY!
Poor man's Band of Brothers.
Comparing both, I think I preferred Band of Brothers
My main criticism of BoB is the obnoxious colour grading; I found it really distracting
u gay
Mad incel thread.
Band of Brothers is great. So is Jarhead.
Generation Kill is pretty mediocre and I think only mutt veterans (or mutt kids larping as cool soldiers) like it.
You expected cool military action and you got real military action.
BoB is a movie version of war
GK is a real war
How is Pacific? I dunno if I should watch it before Band of Brothers.
Vietnam show when?
They don't really do cool soldier stuff though.
The daily schedule of most soldiers is a lot of tedious travelling and boredom punctuated with the rare firefight. It's a far more realistic portrayal of the average soldier than any war media
Jarhead bad.
Fury bad.
Pacific bad.
American Sniper bad.
Lone Survivor bad.
>GK is a real war
Mutts getting BTFO and running away, sounds about right.
Generation Kill is garbage propaganda.
>Dude everyone in the military is incompetent.
>t.
How is prison treating you Sixta
Generation Incel
Pacific is better than BoB, but it's a very different series.
Band of brothers is nothing more than American propaganda. American war media is always over the top
I don't get it.
GK depicts quite perfectly the 21st century military experience.
t.staff sgt
ywn lick unwashed and sweaty battlefield pussy
>bunch of marines milling around in Iraq trying not the get killed by the enemy or the incompetent brass while cracking gay jokes and trying to fight boredom
yep, sounds about right.
Literally other way around
The Pacific is better, though barely anybody else thinks that.
Don't watch it first.
>Poh-leece that cunny!
Ewan McGregors character in Black Hawk Down was a paedo as well
Why was the dress code guy such a dick?
GATE, Youjo Senki, and Ghost in the Shell are much better military depictions.
BoB is the guts being blown out kind of war, its all the grotesque grandeur Hemingway would have a field day with. And its obviously a novelist version of war.
GK is how war is felt from day to day. Creeping into you like cool autumn breeze until youre left with nothing but regret.
Exactly
@121195096
No (You)s for you
>Incredible WWII action
>Looks like it was filmed through a sweet wrapper
Don't tell me you aren't distracted by it as well
Generation Kill is happily free of DUDE BLUE/SEPIA LMAO
To keep the soldiers from getting angry at each other. Give them something they can collectively complain and take their frustrations out.
That washed out photograph colour grading is pig disgusting. I bet Speilberg made them do it.
Thin Red Line bad.
Full Metal Jacket bad.
Hacksaw Ridge bad.
Pvt retard stop posting false information
BoB they fought real enemies though, nobody died in Generation Queer
I'm not autistic so no, it doesn't distract me. I think it looks good and understand why Spielberg did it.
Ray killed someone, that was when he became more like Trombley
I only posted this so people would bump the thread.
I thought Ray was a veteran from Aphganistan. Trombley was the only new guy I think.
they got lobster in Afghanistan
Why were all the COs incompetent? Pretty silly.
Because the book was written based on interviews with grunts.
IRL Ray kicked Rudy's ass all the time.
>Waaaahhhh you're just another jock.
What?
After the football game Ray says "Fuck you PTSD psycho Rudy you're just another fucking jock from high school."
Football scene was the way writers gave Ray an arc for story purposes. Evan Wright and everyone else described Ray as being exactly the same all of the time IRL.
Yeah, but that was made up, as was the one captain hitting the other captain, although in the latter case the same dude once shoved Encino Man against a wall and claimed it was a joke.
Last episode was the worst episode.
It also had a female director. Coincidence?
This is a board about Television and Film.
Half the episodes were directed by the same woman. Episode 6 is the worst only because it ends.
I want Generation Kill like series for WW1
they're all white wtf
And it's a documentary series, so what's your point?
Baby’s first BoB
From a Gerry perspective, richtig?
Spics are feeble manlets, and niggers fail at swimming. Read Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden, he notes operators are overwhelmingly huwhite.
ironic shitposting is still shitposting
Band of Brothers sucks, last two episodes are boring as hell
The pacific is really bad to be honest. It just nips and mutts getting rekt. At least in Bob you care about the characters because is really the story of a company through the war.
In Pacific most of the time you dont even know whos talking and the main guy is just a candyass whining the whole show
Generation War is the best war series by far.
was iraqi freedom americas most kino war?
>In Pacific most of the time you dont even know whos talking
Brainlet
>One day my grandson said to me, grandpa were you a hero in the war? And i said to him no I'm not a hero, but I have served in a company full of them.
BoB had the real guys getting interviewed at the end, pure kino.
Pacific was split into 3 different stories, all the vets were dead so they just interviewed a bunch of randos, total disconnect.
It was a great time. I was in High School during it. Everyone supported the war and made fun of the 1 gay kid and 1 muslim kid who were against it. Everyone loved America, loved being badasses, and loved pissing the rest of the world off.
I constantly saw comparisons to GK and BoB so I decided to give it a shot because I loved GK. it was just saving private ryan: the series. the action was just constant and so over the top, I hoped for a more realistic approach since they were compared all the time
Pacific didn't have interviews framing each episode.
buttblasted mutt detected
There will never be anything like it ever again. The invasion literally being played live on every channel
>Creeping into you like cool autumn breeze until youre left with nothing but regret.
that final scene is fucking masterful, probably the best series finale of all time
I don't understand why people compare the two so much. It made BoB disappointing.
>written by the people who actually had to carry out the insane orders
makes sense
Everyone but Trombley was a veteran of Afghanistan though. It makes no sense.
they say throughout the series that it's nothing like afghanistan
We can all agree that the COs did nothing wrong right?
They won.
won what?
Every battle they told them to fight.
To be honest I didn't understand the reporter character.
they also managed to create a new wave of terrorism and instability in the middle east
Is that Ziggy?
And Beecher.
what do you mean?
What was wrong with Trombley?
Pretty based
Might have to give this a watch
Trombley was Impossible.
It's a great show. You're probably gay.
legitimate psychopath. didn't even give half a shit about shooting a kid because he was gonna be out of the military soon
It was a missed opportunity not making him the main character and audience proxy. From the book Iceman comes across more like a weirdo thinking of himself as a warrior monk, in the series he's just main character guy and the reporter fills no narrative function other than that they sometimes explains shit to him. Furthermore since all the stories are grunts talking shit about their commanders, making the reporter the main character would reflect that better.
Last Episode was easily the best one, by far.
Shit goes down, marines realise there's a reality beyond shooting everything in sight, tensions boil to confrontation, we understand that Godfather is an adrenaline maniac, reporter guy is cursory and naive, everyone just wants to forget everything that happened, Ray is revealed to have been high on ripped fuel the entire invasion and the ending scene is fantastic.
what exactly do you mean? examples?
You probably feel how most guys who join the military in real life feel.
that's because you are retarded
wth i love maggots now
Texas?
How did this happen?
that was the gay useless war, by bush, wasn't it?
It's funny because aside from him the casting is spot on. Dude just looks kinda weird I guess.
it's like his face should be a bit more up lmao
Drinking too much Ripped Fuel
Nothing
>enter a zone where everyone is considered hostile
>nail some potential terrorists from 200m away from a moving vehicle, potentially saving your whole battalion
He’s a war hero
>Iceman comes across more like a weirdo thinking of himself as a warrior monk, in the series he's just main character guy
Seems like you wanted shit to be more over the top or you watched it at 1.75x speed. Iceman comes across as pretty weird from the get go, if you just paid attention to his ideology and word choice.
The reporter was the proxy in many scenes but it would make no sense for him not to stay behind in a safe position. Literally every time he has a 1 on 1 with any of the guys, they open themselves up completely to him.
Iceman was a fucking weirdo. Quoting poetry before a fight. Dude would be the poster saying how much he loves Dawn of Justice.
Watching everyone slowly leave while watching their movie was great. I don't know how someone could dislike it.
BoB is incredibly romanticized. I have mixed feelings of it. Still like it.
Ray came off as cool and uncaring as possible. The football game was something he could control and his emotions finally came out. Its literally his way of venting. PTSD and the like. The fact that you missed it so hard confirms you are an actual autistic fuck with no concept of empathy.
Why you gotta do me like that?
That makes zero sense user. Football is just like a war. Each play you try and fight the opponent and gain more of his territory. Literally the point of the game.
All Hitman 2 Victors.
Be advised.
My dick is out.
How copy?
This is hitman actual
No copy
>Each play you try and fight the opponent and gain more of his territory. Literally the point of the game.
How is that even related to what he said about PTSD or venting?
That football game was meant to be a nice change of pace, but it ends up being a symbol for the war as it echoes the shit that happened through the whole series (army vs army, guys just losing it for no apparent reason, dumb units winning, etc.)
Anybody seen the Restrepo and Korengal documentaries? They're a bit more brutal as it's real footage, but still very good.
Of course it represented the war they just experienced.
That's the point of football.
>. Quoting poetry before a fight
that sounds kino
Yeah, but still, how does it even relate to what he said about him being in control, PTSD or venting?
It's not like they are mutually exclusive views.
He has the same control in a football game as he had in the war.
>tfw missed out on the sandbox adventures
>If/when there's another real war in my lifetime I'll be too old
