soon homes will have streaming 8K UHD with HDR10+/Dolby Vision and the consumer at-large won't care about "owning" copies of TV shows and movies

at best, Blu-ray/4K Blu-ray will fill the same small, weird niche as people still into vinyl LPs and Hi-Fi home stereo systems

The internet

This is correct

>consumer at-large won't care
they already don't. home video sales are basically kill

All media is physical media.
>but what about torrenting files
Media stored on computers. Computers are physical.
>but what about streaming
Media stored on servers. Servers are physical.
There’s zero difference storing a movie on a VHS or a DVD or a Bluray or a computer or a server or a film reel. All physical media.

Maybe someday but everything I have seen sucks compared to an actual bluray.

HD DVD

>an optical record
Not really.

Is anyone streaming movies with DTS or better sound? Everything I have seen is pretty shit.

I thought dvds still outsold blu rays? Anyway, digital copies or streaming

And the bitrate of a 720p BD.

Home video peaked with BR. 4K Ultra HD is an ugly abomination.

Anyone else still own their tape collection but no VCR?

post-it notes. A lot of them

I've got one or two VHS that I keep because they haven't got releases on other formats, the rest are in the attic at my mum's house because they're so worthless you can't even give them away to charity shops now

If there is another physical media why not make it cartridges? Micro SSDs with tens of GB cost fucking nothing now. Mass produce a standardized format and you could have 4K or even 8K in a cartridge for almost nothing.

No problem with optical degradation over time. Robust format. Smaller format.

Unironically based.

They call it 4K Blu Ray but I can't view it on my old Blu Ray player so it might as well be considered a new medium.

you sound like those morons that say DVD is better than Blu

The average pleb doesn't care about bitrate unfortunately.

My 4k blu rays look good.

>8K UHD
>needing to sit 3ft. away from a 60+ in. screen to see any improvement
have fun with that

This chart is for people with only 20/20 vision though.
If you are young and have good genetics you should easily have 20/12.5.

Chips. Discs are flimsy and homosexually inclined.

>60+ in.
If you buy anything ther then 80+ inch you are retarded.
