Finish a movie

>finish a movie
>Google "Ending of movie explained"
Did you ever do this? For what movie did you do it?
I never did. Except for Evangelion

I still don't understand the ending of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Why did she jump off the bridge? Yes I remember there being a story about it earlier in the film, but I just don't understand

Cause her love is dead senpai

b,up

in some movies the ending is too weird or inexplicable and you just have to immediately know how it is tied to the rest of the movie

Yes, for Eraserhead, though I asked for the entire movie.

I’ve done this a few times. Even for films I understand because you tend to learn different things or pick up something you might have missed. Did this for Mulholland Drive, Hereditary, Colossal, Jacobs Ladder and a few others.

I always read the imdb trivia, wikipedia page, and look up some reviews and analyses of films I watch in order to help clarify my own understanding. I also try to always write my thoughts down. I use letterboxd like a pleb but it is really helpful and exposes you to new ideas. I think reading/writing about the films I watch has helped me be better at understanding and analyzing new ones I watch. Not only films, but lots of things, books, plays, music, even actual social interaction. It just helps to learn and think as much as possible

Why were there so many brainlets when hereditary came out that they needed an "explanation"?

I had to Google if Enemy was pretentious or not

and was it?

Probably because while the ending isn't all that complicated, it's quite jarring compared to the rest of the movie and ends quite abruptly. Also consider the fact that the average moviegoer is a brainlet.

Yes I do that all the time. Most of the time it's because you think there is more to it that you are not getting, but then it turns out to just be a shit film.

American Psycho and Prestige

Cute. I really like elephants.

Me too, user.

I looked up opinions on Mulholland Drive because it was my first Lynch film and ended up deciding on just watching it several times over the course of a couple years.

My girl frequently Googles movies or real life stuff like Narcos and such.

>tfw no silly elephant buddy to play with

I still don't even know what the fuck that movie is about. Celebrity lesbian couple dies and they're banished to some actor secret society hell?

>understood the ending to a complex film
>google "movie ending explained" anyway to see how the brainlets interpreted it on reddit

I read the entire plot beforehand

Drug induced fever dream, roastie missed her Hollywood opportunity and creates a conspiracy in her mind, lot of regret, psyche breakdown

The Exorcist and Hereditary. Probably others but none I can think of.
It's got quite a few layers and a lot of detail to it. There really isn't any plot spoonfeeding and to this day I have tons of little questions that I can't find definite answers to.

What's there to explain in the Exorcist?

I’m for me it was just to find out what the symbols and shit were, and the clicking noise.

The only thing that you could look deeper into is the parallel to real religions and rituals. But that is not important to the main idea of the movie. The main idea of the movie is easy to figure out with discussion with others.

I had to watch the first 15 minutes again, but I got it what was the movie about.

The little bit at the end with Father Dyer responding to Kinderman about going to the movies the same way Karras did. I don't understand why he did that and what the significance is. Does it have something to do with the sequel? I've never seen the other ones.

Pretty much all of them but definitely

2001 a space odyssey
hereditary
midsommar
midnight cowboy

even if I understand the ending i still like to read other peoples' interpretations of the movies.

oh also not a movie but both old seasons and the new season of twin peaks was heavily googled for me

Move to Philadelphia and you'll understand Eraserhead real quick. Go into any dive bar in one of the few areas with white people left and you'll run into Bill X every time.

Sopranos ending
Because i thought something went wrong with my DVD

The Legend of the Demon Cat.

I never did that for a movie, but I did for "I Am A Hero" manga.

Turns out the author's dad died and he was depressed so he just gave up.

yeah I do it all the time just to get other people's take, especially like Jew NY times review type takes. It's interesting.

The biggest threat to mans continued dominance on this earth are the Elephantidae and Cephalopods.

>did patrick bateman actually kill anyone?

We've got most of em, just two more left and we're done

No country for old men.

What was the point of Tommy Lee Jones' ending dialogue anyway? I get Chigurh's end, but not Jones'.

god i wish i were that hat dabbing elephant so bad bros

maybe because the movie was a complete non sequitur and if you think you “got it” you are fooling yourself

Damn, steppe mammoths were huge

they needed an explanation as to why this garbage is shilled so much online

I did it for pic related.

Awwww what a CUTE!

Not really but I still get them on my YouTube recommendations

Can you please not mention having a gf casually unless it's in a negative sense? Thanks in advance

Kill Jesteh

No because that EXPLAINED bullshit triggers my autism and I hate it. I make sure to remove any video I see with it in the title from my notifications on principle.

Blackcoat's Daughter

What are your questions? I'm not sure if I can answer them but I'd be interested in hearing them.

Arrival because the love plot was so bad I lost interest
Some other trash I can't remember
Inception and I still don't know if the end scene is real or a dream
Dunkirk timeline

Lost Highway. Felt like a dumbass after reading the explanation.

Synedoche new york for me. Then i realized i didnt even like the movie enough to finish it, so why waste time looking up the ending

Same.

Retard with pleb taste

same

this made me laugh, thanks.

No, but I used to go straight to the IMDB forums to read all of the discussions.

Toy Story 4

Same, except I googled 'explain why I wasted two hours of my life watching enemy'

For me, it's finding the thread on Yea Forums about the film, and saying it's shit regardless of if I've seen it or not.

What did Burning and Parasite mean? These Korean movies are too weird

Taxi Driver. Wasn't sure whether the last scene was a dream or not and why he looked at his rearview mirror

Sed quis custodiet ipsos giant fucking squid?

The closest thing was release day of Us but that was just coming here to discuss it

I did it for 2001: A Space Odyssey to see if there actually was a meaning to it that I missed or if it was just pretentious "choose your own meaning" ending.

>"I Am A Hero" manga.
So it was never finished?
I've got it on my list of "to read maybe".
Should I cut that shit?

>enjoy The Prestige
>see threads talking about its ending and meaning and whatnot
>get pulled into such a fucking conspiracy theory that Nolan himself probably didn't think about it that way and would agree

Do they have elephants in the CIA prison?

>I did it for 2001: A Space Odyssey
I felt like a brainlet, but I did the same. Still loved the movie tremendously, but reading Kubrick's explanation of the ending felt like the cherry on top

But justehs our frend

I looked up thoughts on Under the Silver Lake because it was pretty interesting and I wanted to see what other people took from it.

But he did. His gf has to google everything because she is retarded.

Star Wars 8

>>get pulled into such a fucking conspiracy theory that Nolan himself probably didn't think about it that way and would agree
Well, what's the theory?
I took the film "at face value" and haven't thought much of it since.

no magic at all, no tesla machine no nothing, everything in the diary is a red herring

for me it was stalker
i still dont get it fully though

No country for old men, specifically tommy lee jones dream at the end.

I still don't get it and I don't think the people posting their "Interpretations" online do either

Before I watch a movie I read the Wikipedia summary a d after I usually watch a few video essays about it

>no magic at all, no tesla machine no nothing
It's been a while since I saw the film but, if there was no tesla machine what's with all the bodies and the capsules?
Is this a "it was all in his head" sort of deal?

>thought I understood the movie
>the token was actually his wedding ring
>I didn't notice that
>felt like an idiot since the signs were clearly there.

It basically ends out of nowhere undoes any semblance of character development for the main characters. The manga could still be a good read as long as you're okay with no questions ever being answered.

I did this for twin peaks, not a movie but still.
