Alex Trebek's Cancer is Back
was it ever gone?
wasn't he initially diagnosed with like stage 4 pancreatic cancer or something?
Yeah that niggas was doomed since diagnosis
You never really beat cancer
September... I'm forgotten
F
He didn't fly so good
No. With pancreatic cancer it's 100% guaranteed to kill you. There's no cure. Alex Trebek is rich and has enough money to fight it off a bit longer than normal, but he's still a dead man walking. I bet he's dead before next year.
now we'll see whether he has all the answers without the cards, smug wanker
F
Damn he looks very far along. That’s a very obvious hairpiece. Poor fucking guy. :(
It's not 100% fatal, just 99.99%, don't exaggerate.
Lol
Pre-F. I hope that he either beats it via miracle, or that he goes before the pain is too much. Respects. Damn scary disease.
tik tok whitie
My GF is a nurse. She has been around people with his cancer many times. She says this means he doesn't have much left and that he cancer has blown up and is spreading. This probably is the last video you will ever see of him healthy. If he ever does another one, will probably resemble more like pic related.
Holy shit I didn't think anything could emotionally affect me anymore but I am crying at this and his Canadian optimism and seeing him holding back tears which will probably be his last video publicly. Fuck man.
Hell, at least he made it to old age beforehand. That's more than many people get.
Don't give up hope, but I hear you user. My dad went from it and he went two weeks after diagnosis. At least Trebek has had some extra time.
what is boring
Hasn't he already lasted twice as long as he should have?
I-I'm sure he'll beat it
You Dad was weak and mentally gave up.
I hope you're made of sterner stuff.
reminder, after he dies he will be replaced by a black woman as host and then a bunch of women will metoo him
Fuck you, prick. Bad shit happens to good people. And thanks, I tend to think I'm pretty ok.

cant wait for trebek's replacement

Whoa
Jeopardy! with earplugs, different, but ok.
He was a dead man walking the moment it was revealed it was stage IV pancreatic cancer. No one survives that. No one.
No, it's absolutely 100% fatal. The only way pancreatic cancer is non-fatal is if it hasn't metastasized, or it is discovered in the very early stages. The reason it is so deadly is because it's hard to detect until it's metastasized and spread throughout the body, at which point the symptoms of the disease begin to develop.
Christ you people seriously cannot control yourselves can you
Jobs was a moron, he probably would have died either way, but he actually sought "alternative" treatments to his cancer and only waited to do intensive chemo until it was advanced. He probably would have lived longer had he just treated it aggressively from the start.
Hmm based on your comment I rechecked and you're right, I was wrong. A 9% five year survival rate just means that they're still alive after 5 years, but after that they tend to die quickly. Fuck.
>for nine months he refused to undergo surgery for his pancreatic cancer – a decision he later regretted as his health declined".[115] "Instead, he tried a vegan diet, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and other treatments he found online, and even consulted a psychic. He was also influenced by a doctor who ran a clinic that advised juice fasts, bowel cleansings and other unproven approaches, before finally having surgery in July 2004
Don't tell me this shit. That's what my grandma died of and I'm hoping it's not genetic.
Trebek on dying
>I realize that there is an end in sight for me, just as there is for everyone else. One line that I have used with our staff in recent weeks and months is that when I do...pass on...One thing they will not say at my funeral is 'Oh he was taken from us too soon.' Hey guys, I'm 79 years old, I've had one hell of a good life and I've enjoyed it and the thought of passing on doesn't frighten me. It doesn't. Other things do: the effect it will have on my loved ones- yes that bothers me, that makes me sad. But the thought of myself moving on? Hey folks...it comes with the territory
what do you mean "you people"?
Wrong.
most types of pancreatic cancer aren't thought to be genetic.
Thanks, user. You've made my day. I am now going to leave the thread.
I said some types, there are forms of pancreatic cancer that are linked to genetics, but they're in the minority. The problem with this type of cancer is it's very difficult to screen for it, therefore it's very hard to catch it early as the symptoms don't really start to appear until the late stages.
Most pancreatic cancers are linked to smoking, so if you're not a smoker you're already increasing your chances greatly of not developing it. Same applies to obesity.
Kelsey Grammer should be the next host. It'll be hard to watch it without Trebek.
>is back
when you have stage IV pancreatic cancer it never goes into remission, it's just a matter of giving you the best quality of life and prolonging it for as long as possible. i think the 5 year survival rate for stage iv is less than 5%.
pancreatic cancer isn't 100% guaranteed to kill you if they catch it early and it's operable. it's very rarely caught early though because it doesn't start causing symptoms until it's progressed. stage 4 is not curable though.
How come they haven't figured a way to tests for all cancers in an way your general practitioner could do? That would be more useful than an actual cure at the moment
Pic related is the true heir.
20 years from now they'll probably be able to do something like that with just a blood test. they can detect if you have prostate cancer that way now.
otherwise you'd have to be a hypochondriac asking for CT scans every year and having your HMO turn them down since they're ridiculously expensive.
Man, cancer is a real motherfucker. Even if you manage to get it to go away, you're basically running on borrowed time from then on.
Basically anytime you get a disease your risk of getting something else to kill you goes up.
Stop eating processed food
Eat organic
No smoking and if you drink alcohol, make it yourselves
Take CBD oil every day
It's that simple not to get cancer
Bonus: Wayne most likely had cancer during the making of The Shootist and would die just 3 years later.
Based and cutepilled
reminder that males who have cancer are cuckolds like jobs was. his wife chose to be fucked by her BBC trainer while jobs was dying.
Wheel of MisFortune
>mfw my family is a genetic minefield of cancer and heart disease
I'm in my thirties now, so I'm starting to get into that period where I don't have pure youth on my side anymore. Shit's scary.
Yeah I hear you, user. Alzheimer's runs in my family, but at least I don't have anything to worry about.
>mr trebek, your cancer is back
boo hiss
why don't you have anything to worry about?
if you get your DNA processed by 23 and me they can tell you if you have the two markers most associated with late onset alzheimer's. if you don't have the markers it doesn't mean you won't get it but you have like a 5% chance or less. if you have one of the two it's around a 30% chance, if you have both it's 60% or higher.
>all of my family lived long and healthy lives
>don't enjoy life at all
we are cursed, god has cursed us
Someone post her
>why don't you have anything to worry about?
Maybe read it again.
read what again? you said alzheimer's runs in my family, but at least i don't have anything to worry about.
did i miss something? are you planning on offing yourself before you reach old age or something?
Yes
oh ok. godspeed.
Has anyone tried telling their cancer to have sex or call it an incel until it goes away?
lol no dude
Shut up, you don't speak for me.
It is a fact that Alzys runs in my family...but at least I don't have to worry about getting Alzheimer's, bros.
S
Do you get the joke now? Yes, I got it in my family...a disease that erases memory, but at least I don't have to *worry about getting Alzheimer's.
I wish the world was a better place. it shouldn't have to be like this with people dying from cancer and stuff. the world just seems like such a sad place the more I grow older. I wish I wasn't so jaded.
Life is a ride that has ups and downs, thrills and chills, and it ends, user. Enjoy all the life you can while you can.
>grandfather is greatest man I ever knew
>guy worked for schoolboard from 19 until mandatory retirement
>his only break from that was ww2
>he's constipated for 2 months at 93
>finally goes to doctor
>turns out his intestines are full of tumors
>he's too old for treatment
>few months later
>tell him bank called and offered me free life insurance for 6 months
>he tells me I should take it, and list him as beneficiary
>say I will if he gets life insurance and list me as beneficiary
>he laughs and says ok
will he unironically beat it?
Did you get the money? That's really kind of him to go in on it with you.
he's 79
It's very pragmatic of him and very realistic. That's respectful.
what a fucking idiot, why would he refuse the surgery?
>get lucky as a motherfucker and catch it early
>can get life saving surgery
>"yeah nah i'll just follow stuff I found online"
This is the opposite of the word yes.
Jaded people don't post crying cats.
pretty bad joke if i'm being honest. i hope you don't get it all the same though.
I watched my grandma die of dementia, it was one of the worst things I've ever witnessed.
They just dehydrate them, and then slowly you die a suffering, painful death. No one deserves to fucking die like that, people should have the right to die. It's insane that in so many states this is how we let people die in hospice, just slowly rotting away, thirsty, hungry, watching your own body degrade and decay, but even worse for people with dementia / alzheimers is that they aren't even aware of anything that's happening around them due to the disease, all they know is they're in pain, they're suffering, and a bunch of people are sitting around them watching them slowly die.
Him and Jim Henson.
People also thought no one would ever survive a thousand dicks in their ass but you're still here
When told in person it always gets a laugh even if it take a few seconds to a minute. Depends on them, y'know. And thanks, same to you. I hope we all go peacefully in our sleep at an old age. :)
i think the joke is that he would never be approved for life insurance as a 93 year old man with cancer
a lot of cast and crew from his genghis khan movie get cancer because they filmed it close to a nuclear test site
why prolong my shitty life? sooner the better i say.
I thought he died already..
Damn, old Yea Forums was actually reddit af
>That's what my grandma died of and I'm hoping it's not genetic.
Hopefully you're getting regular checkups.
Don't just rely on 1 doctor either, get 3rd and 4th opinions if you really want to be safe.
>2009
>old Yea Forums
Fucking zoomers...
Yeah, that was a criminal thing they did filming there.
yeah i read that on his wikipedia. crazy. he siad he thinks he got lung cancer (and probably stomach cancer as well) because he smoked 6 packs a day though. i can't even imagine smoking 120 cigarettes a day. that's like 8 every hour you are awake.
is he wearing a wig?
Crap, I'm screwed. I used to smoke but quit and used to be obese but went from 195-ish pounds to 135. I'm hoping that will help. Pancreatic cancer scares the shit out of me. That and strokes.
That’s mean I hope u have a bad day
That would be pretty awesome.
Or Will Ferrell. Because, well... Or shit, Norm MacDonald. But I don't think he could actually pull off that gig.
DUDE
They will most likely halt production for over a year.
Then they'll do some shitty reality show THE NEXT JEOPARDY HOST
is CBD oil more than a meme? I live in a legal state and vape a little flower each night to fall asleep. I stopped drinking and trying to live healthier now that i'm a 31 yr old boomer. Cancer runs in my family
I've felt like this since I experienced ego death on shrooms. Not the "long life" bit. Just the rest.
don't think you qualify for life insurance when you're in you 90s and have cancer
his (deceased) wife left her grandkids an inheritance and combined they left my dad over a million
but he's a boomer who thinks that wealth shouldn't be intergenerational so he should dispose of whatever money he has while he's still alive and leave his kids nothing
Norm can barely form a coherent sentence anymore, there's no way he could handle a fast show like Jeopardy.
>what a fucking idiot, why would he refuse the surgery?
he thought it would be better to eat apples
You beat me to the prostate cancer thing. That used to be the other big one as far detection. Funny, that one is the most treatable of them all...
Except maybe moles.
Just wanted to say I love ya'll bros. None of us make it out of this alive. Lets try to be nice to each other.
Hope everyone is doing OK out there.
>Or Will Ferrell
That could work and the way he did Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL just felt right. Norm is great, but he's too slow speaking for that work.
I'm going to cry when he goes.
Thank CHRIST you aren't in charge of anything. Norm? Really?
he has a good attitude about it. i am honestly not afraid of death either since it's a 99.9% chance it's just going to be like it was before you were born. pure oblivion. nothing to be afraid about. check back with me in 40 years though.
>muh shrooms
your life is worthless already
I thought double jeopardy was not allowed?
Really really hope he can somehow pull through. He's a great guy, and a wise, comforting staple of many people's lives. If he really doesn't have much time left, I hope he can make peace with it.
Also this
thats only in court
what the hell is even the point of this video
>20 years from now they'll probably be able to do something like that with just a blood test
Dogs can already smell cancer in blood with 97% accuracy. There's no reason hospitals aren't employing doggo detectors on a large scale already.
what was her deal, abused as a child? christian psychosis? both?
the feels...
My grandpa worked with those guys.
He outlived them all but eventually stroked out a few years ago with a specific request for no life support. True to form cowboy, that man.
Me? I'm a colossal puss and would seek out any possible remedy.
That would be pretty awesome, wouldn't it?
Not likely, but TV producers don't know gold when it's right there in front of them.
checked and
AHHH, fagettaboutit
>Me? I'm a colossal puss and would seek out any possible remedy.
You should pay a meth-up cowboy to bust in and blow you away in old age. YEE-HAAA! Pew pew Bonus points if you forget. ;) Seriously, though, your grandad sounded based.
This would make me sad. Trebek is comfy as fuck.
All life is worth only exactly what you assign to it. I'm sorry your mind is so small.
It's actually a pretty good joke. Not that guy but a lot of people in my family have had alzheimer's or dementia and I probably will, as well, if I make it that long. It sucks. Being an alcoholic, I have already screwed up my brain. But there are things you can do to help other people out which supposedly helps your own brain functions. Simple things, even. Like volunteering.
Robert Smith of the Cure does.
Or typing online, coming up with replies that entertain and inform? We'll be ok no matter what, user. I believe in you. Relax, though, stress sure won't help! Relax or get sick damnit! Why aren't you relaxed yet!?
Yep, you're exactly the kind of faggot I thought.
WHAT DO YOU NEED A FUCKING PANCREAS FOR ANYWAY
CANT THEY JUST CUT IT OUT AND GIVE HIM A ROBOT PANCREAS
He's brave, I admire him for it. I am a coward who fears death constantly. When I go I'll go kicking and screaming.
That's good.
My great grandfather died in his sleep from an aneurism (sp?) in the middle of the night. He played golf that day and worked on local check dams with his mason buddies. I'd hope to go that way and not some drawn out painful cancer.
His wife had the alzheimer's and it was not pretty. Long and drawn out. Yuk.
Thanks.
Wait, what? I didn't know that. Holy moley.
True. The thought just cracked me up.
>sorry about the thumbnail but it had to be done

OK, Adam Carolla, you need to get your beauty rest.
idk who that is but this is pretty well known. look it up
He was an actual rancher and worked with getting Hollywood into our county by location scouting so I got to be babby-sat as a little kid by the cast of Little House on the Prairie and meet folks from For Whom the Bell Tolls and all kinds of stuff. I didn't know it was anything at the time. What I remember the best was learning to drive 7 speed clutch on a tractor on our ranch.
We've got enough meth-ed out folks here that your idea is FAR TOO PLAUSIBLE. I was thinking the pussy route out like morphine or something.
You made me laugh with the forgetting the pew pews.
Thank god
Your dad was a pussy!!!FACT!!!
>pancreatic cancer isn't 100% guaranteed to kill you if they catch it early and it's operable.
Less than 2% of people diagnosed with it survive after 5 years WITH a whipple operation (cancer removed from pancreas entirely and parts of the stomach, gall bladder, large bowel, small bowel, liver, and duodenum removed as well to prevent spread through the cascade of the digestive track).
Less than 2% survive with that surgery after 5 years, Chances are that it will kill them eventually after 5 years as well. The cancers associated with the Pancreas also tend to be very aggressive on top of being hard to detect. Pancreatic cancers are statistically the most fatal of all, It's a death sentence.
>I got to be babby-sat as a little kid by the cast of Little House on the Prairie
Did Nelly molest you? Please say yes. >What I remember the best was learning to drive 7 speed clutch on a tractor on our ranch.
>We've got enough meth-ed out folks here that your idea is FAR TOO PLAUSIBLE. I was thinking the pussy route out like morphine or something.
lol ain't life grand? It's just so random.
WITH CHAINSAW HANDS
...
Your style is comedy gold, but you're losing your touch !!FACT!!!
He's a radio / podcaster / standup guy who has been preaching that for about 20 to 30 years, now. Also, how we need attack crows but that's another thread.
Wow. Just wow.
I actually met William Conrad when I was little. He was a prick. But I'd never wish that kind of fate on any folks. I wonder about the Paiute. That was always sketchy back then.
Viewing parties... well yeah, that's Vegas.
Yeah I hear you, user. Alzheimer's runs in my family, but at least I don't have anything to worry about.
I think the worst thing about it was to get cancer from a movie of john wayne playing genghis khan
Why not get tested for genetic markers? According to the tests I'm the clear for all the serious stuff.
He could have afforded the best treatment on the planet too.
Fact: Steve Jobs lived the dream of playing the rules to their extremes for his own good. He would buy a new car every six months in order to avoid having to own a license plate. The laws were changed because of him.
HAHAHAHA!
No, she didn't molest me.
Alison I think is her name did baby-sit me and my little sister once or twice. While she didn't diddle me, she did do this move where she would hold me by my ankle and wrist and spin me around and around like an airplane until I smashed into a lamp. Still have that lamp in our living room. It was one of those tall ones with a long stem like stand so it didn't break. But that ended all the shenanigans so no molestation. After that, we got Melissa Gilbert, so that was cool.
No Michael Landon, though. He was too hot shit to deal with little shithead kids like me.
And yeah, life is random. Haven't figured out if that's good or bad, yet. Both, I guess.
>she did do this move where she would hold me by my ankle and wrist and spin me around and around like an airplane until I smashed into a lamp. Still have that lamp in our living room. It was one of those tall ones with a long stem like stand so it didn't break. But that ended all the shenanigans so no molestation. After that, we got Melissa Gilbert, so that was cool.
lmao user too funny.
>No Michael Landon, though. He was too hot shit to deal with little shithead kids like me.
Bummer.
>And yeah, life is random. Haven't figured out if that's good or bad, yet. Both, I guess.
Dualityfags go on and on, but they're right.
Jesus Christ, thats like Ian Fleming. He was up to that amount and even wrote it into the early Bond character as to doing the same.
I used to smoke but nowhere on THAT kind of level. Never again; not being able to breathe is an awful feeling.
>we got Melissa Gilbert, so that was cool.
Just a guess, but she was cool I'm guessing. The only celeb I ever knew in any sense was one I never met in person, but was always nice and insightful online, that was Taylor Negron. We chatted in a very, very small board and he could tell some stories. I'm glad I was able to tell him that I appreciated his acting in The Last Boy Scout, and it seemed to mean something to him. Just odd that I'd ever get to chat with him. And he was so different than anyone I'd ever talked to, not in a "whoa he was so good" way, just more of a fact.
Sounds like a based fellow. But really, it's not even that much of a stretch. We're already using sniffer dogs for everything else. The only reason there isn't more research on the subject is that the specific compounds are unknown to us. They can't "prove" it even though they get it right 97% of the time.
It's not a meme. Even doctor Drew Pinsky uses it (addiction medicine specialist) for joint pain. Good for laying of the drink. That does a lot of harm. If cancer runs in your family I'd avoid smoking anything and just stick to the oils / edibles.
Also, boomers are in their 70s, now.
That said, Godspeed to you and good thoughts for getting to sleep.
I'd say it's a meme, because it's not a miracle drug that potheads make it out to be.
My cousin tried to use it for her epilepsy, And it was less effective than her usual meds.
>I stopped drinking and trying to live healthier
>takes up vaping weed daily
One of these is not like the other.
oh jeez, you're right. that's just insult to injury.
Well that's true, now. You can get tested and the results are fairly reliable. But I think what they're getting at is, "What does it matter?"
Unless one is planning on offing themselves at a certain time for whatever reason (dementia?) then what's the point?
Personally, I think I'm with you as in I'd like to know at least a bit of a time frame.
Is this true?
Dang.
Why not just use the cardboard dealer plates?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT -- I just woke up my household laughing at that pic. That's exactly how it went down. I forgot about that Far Side and I even have the book.
kdjshfjaksdhfjkdshfjk
Yeah, Michael Landon. Speaking of pancreatic cancer. Damned shame. I heard he was actually a good guy.
>dualityfags
"It's all in the wrists." -- James Bond, playing backgammon - Octopussy (the film)
once it comes back, das it mane
>No Michael Landon, though.
wew what a shame
no one's ever really gone
As I remember she was cool. Real mellow and sweet. None of that spinning around by my limbs stuff. Pretty calm. She liked our classical vinyls which was OK by me because I was just getting into origami and learning the basics so the atmosphere was chill.
Taylor Negron? Rivers Edge guy? Wow. I've met a few people from bands that remind me of that same kind of personality. David J from Bauhaus / Love & Rockets / solo stuff where when you get talking with them and their actual work (and not celebrity) they actually open up and you can have a real conversation. I love that.
It's like late night talk radio.
Those are some pretty good percentages.
I'll take the dogs for one thousand, Alex.
The time has come.
a few months ago he said that his cancer treatment was responding surprisingly well and that the tumors were shrinking a lot
Jobs actually had a pretty rare form of pancreatic cancer that is usually way more curable than the other, more common types.
Nobody will know for sure, but he could have made it if he wasn't a new age hippie retard.
yeah the problem is that the cancer then gets resistant to it and when he does chemo again it worked work as well as it did before most likely. he's going to die from it. it's just a matter of how long they can extend his life and whether or not it's worth it to deal with the awful side effects from chemo and radiation.
This is the sixth letter in the English alphabet.
one does not simply "build a resistance" to radiation you internet doctor
We're all gonna get it. Cancer is insidious and unrelenting
ITS TRUE
REDDIT IS ALL OVER THIS PLACE BY NOW
