there doesn't seem to be anywhere unique the story could go once the crystal is healed. Only idea I could come up with is the skeksis and mystics who never made it to the great conjunction need to be reunited, but that's just a retread of the first plot.

For those worried about S2's announcement taking so long that it appears cancelled, it took Netflix 6 months to announce Season 3 or Stranger Things.

I /think/ Jen and Kira used the crystal to go to the UrSkeks homeworld in Power but I never read that for myself.
What would these Gelflings do on another world? I don't fuckin know. But it at least avoids undoing the newfound peace of the clans, relying on UrSkeks (Assuming they visited a world other than theirs), and most importantly avoids dumb fireling bullshit.
We could also meet other sentient dominant species that aren't Gelflings and meet another planet-avatar like Aughra, both with their own quirks, personalities, and abilities like dreamfasting that set them apart from others.
I know it's shit and it kinda defeats the point of how quaint Thra is as a planet and contained setting, but that's the route I'd take.

Do we know that much about Urskek society? Maybe some hostile Urskeks showing up would be an idea. Maybe they're bounty hunters looking for the ones who cracked the crystal, because their society wants to purge them for being impure, or maybe they heard about the crystal from the movie Urskeks after they left and want to take it back to their home planet to experiment on it (which naturally would be harmful to the crystal's home planet.)

We know the movie Urskeks were banished for being impure, but we don't know what exactly this mean, maybe Urskek society leans more skeksis and the movie Urskeks were banished for leaning too mystic.

I think if they were technologically advanced, the scientist would have known how to make plasma guns and planes and stuff. Medieval-level technology is probably about as much as the Urskeks know, which is why the gelflings are currently at that level of technology themselves. Assuming the skeksis taught them to be more modern, do we know what gelflings were like before they allied with the skeksis?

The daughter was always told to do what was 'right' to maintain order and the status quo, and so when her mother does a 180 at the end, it's not too surprising she sides with the Skeksis (plus the mother was a bit of a bitch to her).

If you wanna justify it in-story, you could just say the skeksis have continued to deteriorate both physically and mentally in between the series and the movie. No gelfling essence = skeksis running on fumes.

Pretty sure it's just him knowing how to talk well. Final Fantasy has a character with a similar ability called the mediator (can't use magic but can debuff people with mere speech.) Skeksis don't generally seem to have any innate magical powers, which is why they have to fuck around with the darkening and crystals.

This scene was ultimate puppet kino. The soundtrack really helped as well, for most of the series it felt too generic and zimmer-ish but for scenes like this and Brea in the library it was perfect.

Remember that the Hunter managed to drag Brea all the way to the castle while Archer fainted right away from the pain of the third arrow. They’re both a lot more /fit/ and have a lot more willpower than the rest of their respective species, but Hunter obviously got the better end of the deal (which makes sense since even the laziest skeksis is more active than the other mystics)
