I think it’s partly because McBride has talked about how he has a more plot-focused multi-season plan for this one as opposed to Vice Principals which was just a really tight oneshot story. Season 1 is pretty much just the intro before things really kick off.

I dunno. The whole setting of it seems uninspired and the comedy is more miss than hit, but the plot and characters are interesting enough that I'll finish the season. It has a great cast, too.

From the episode I watched, the younger brother appears to be gay and Danny's character is getting blackmailed with video of him at some drug/sex party, also one of Danny's sons ran away so hes probably gay or the blackmailer
