The storyline was ok until the first movie. Carter wanted to end it after season 5 and just do movies. That’s why the first movie pretty much wrapped up the arching plot.
But Fox gave him a shit load of cash and the series continued and that’s when the conspiracy plot turned into total shit.
Why The Syndicate gets taken out, CSM gets under utilized, and the stupid super soldier alien plot came

I watched up until the end of season 4 using this guide to determine which episodes to watch and what should be skipped.
I never continued with Season 5 because I felt like Season 4 and the first episode of Season 5 wrapped everything up so I was never interested in watching the rest of the series.
Is Season 5 worth watching, should I watch it? and what about the later seasons?

The first couple of seasons were really something unique and special that will probably never happen in television ever again.
I think the mythology arc suffered alot the more they revealed exposition directly, they should've never made CSM literally narrate it to you like to a retard, I think it was during season 6 or something when they completely crossed over what made the original episodes iconic and memorable. Same shit happened to LOST, sometimes it's best to leave questions unanswered so you keep wanting to believe.

Seeing how it was the biggest driving point for the character of Mulder, the reveal was completely forgettable in my opinion, I would've been completely fine with leaving it vague but still would've been better to see something concrete, like the CSM walking out of the storage area in the pilot episode, anything would've been better than Mulder being reunited with her in the spirit world, I mean, really?

Growing up you'd think government conspiracies and aliens is something a typical neckbeard weirdo would be all over, but each time I meet girls 20+, esp slav girls, they always have an episode or two that they really liked watching. Is Duchovny really that hot and charming ? To me he was always like regular dude but maybe a little funny and cynical I guess.

The show lost it when the writers caved in and hooked them up, which Carter originally said he’d never do. Remember, Scully originally had s boyfriend in the pilot which they cut out
