We were older, better comedy was more readily available. Go back and watch the original run, they're not very good in the first place

Nothing Jeff Groening did was ever really good.

Shittier writers

not that bad really

The original seasons showed the future through the eyes of a guy from 1999, so the references to pop culture and 20th century norms being relevant (to Fry) made sense. Even then, episodes rarely were driven by "funny '90s thing in the future."
Then there's the revival seasons, which literally spent an entire episode sucking off Obama.

Everyone was so excited for Bender's Big Score. More Futurama! Then Beast With A Billion Backs came out and we all felt obligated to talk about it, but went "Oh, okay. Sure". Then nobody talked about the other two.

It tried being edgy and sexy and it failed miserably

The show's novelty wore off, they also ran out of ideas, it happens to any show that goes on for too long really, especially sitcoms, to keep things interesting they have to introduce new elements and concepts to the show, which contradicts elements and character traits they had established before, things begin to get inconsistent and irritating.

The new stuff wasn't bad, it just didn't have the same charm the earlier stuff did, it's certainly better than current Simpsons and most attempts at animated shows.

Half of Futurama are the most obvious jokes told with the most obvious delivery. The other half is fairly kino, though

too much feed and seed

>future through the eyes of a guy from 1999, so the references to pop culture and 20th century norms being relevant (to Fry) made sense.

This got real fucking annoying and fast. The heads were a good excuse to have people from history but just became a vehicle to have Simpsons style celebrity guest of the week shit. Then there's the contemporary "humor" like having the Dixie Chicks in the latter seasons. The joke is that they're fused together. I guess. There's not really any joke beyond .

Barely worth responding to as the original run of Futurama is amazing

The CC episodes couldn't find the original voice, the tone of the show, and thus the early new eps were weird, unfunny, and devoid of the truly poignant story lines we were accustomed to. The jokes didn't land for many episodes.

This turns around with the award winning body swap episode, a couple more dudders, and then comes Law and Oracle which not only begins with the same opening as the pilot but also signifies the true rebirth of the series into its original form. From then on the CC episodes are back to the golden standard.

Futurama was great but, to me, it started going downhill too soon (around season 3 and 4). They made Fry and Zoidberg more stupid each season, and Fry's love affair with Leela was never convincing or credible to me. Also, the movies were quite a bit crappy.

Hate that beta orbiter bullshit so damn much, happens in every fucking sitcom with love interests, Friends and HIMYM are what instantly comes to my mind, if the bitch doesn't want you forget her ass and move on.

Just a much lower quality writing pool. The 90s had tons of great comedy writers working in TV, and the Simpsons had more than a few legendary staffs.

Now every comedian whose worth a damn has their own terrible podcast.

not enough fuck and suck

t. chuck

>that episode about a boil called susan
It was all over then

B-but... shut up and take my money...

FOX episodes were more about world-building.
CC episodes were more about contemporary politics and references.

They also tried to be more edgy to compete with Family Guy or South Park, so they started showing a lot more nonsense nudity. Also, they made Bender more annoying too. Anyway, around that time, the zeitgeist was changing and comedy characters were getting meaner and more neurotic than 80s or early 90s shows.

Bender's Game was great though

Formerly Ender's
