If you were any sort of minority you'd feel safer and on more equal terms with the rest of the country, if the rest wasn't a homogeneous majority but a number of other minority groups.
Those 50% aren't just people who support a border less world, but also include a sizable segment of people who see immigration as a way to eliminate majority status of whites in the USA.
