I like the show, but some of the dialogue is really weird and unrealistic. I don't know how to describe it, it's like the writers' room is comprised of several college kids that have no life experience at all. Like the Jesus episode, I grew up in that whole scene and parts of it were spot on but I just fucking groaned when Starlight went off script and did her whole speech it's like COME ON, make the show fucking realistic. I kept expecting it to cut back to her still reading the teleprompter and her speech was all in her head.

I feel like there are too many moments like that, where it needs to maintain it's realistic tone but it goes for the le ebin "in your face" social justice moral crusading thing.

Her speech felt so out-of-place and subversive it could've been the most on-the-nose satirical part of the show if we didn't know any better. Imagine spending four episodes watching the filth that is corporate America and growing to hate it along with her character and wondering how she's going to dunk on all the godless degenerates controlling her life. Then, when everything finally comes to a head, all that anger and disgust and rage is redirected towards people who believe in purity, family, chastity, etc.

It's exactly what happened with the real #metoo. All these corporate whores take advantage of a few real victims' stories and start crying about having to suck off yid cocks, and all the rage over this gets directed at a Catholic Supreme Court nominee for a big feminist watershed moment.

I straight up laughed when it cut to her and Hughie at the bar and she was angry that the press was focusing on her rape at the hands of some NYC degenerate instead of her bible-bashing against farmers and rednecks. It's the biggest dump I've ever seen a TV show take on itself.

It's good that they went away from the comics. The entire plotline with Butch killing his friends in the end for no real reason was just as dumb as homelander clone.

It's a good premise and homelander is perfectly cast. For once, an adaptation is better than the comics in a lot of ways.

It still suffers from a lot however.

Both of those plot points were some of the few high points of the comics since it actually makes Homelander come off as pretty pitiful and pathetic with how he dies and having Butcher going off the deep end made sense for his character arc.

I binged the show yesterday and read a bit about the comic. Why couldn't Homelander use his X-Ray vision to see that Noir was his clone? Why didn't he ever accidentally find out about that?

Also, Becca's going to turn out to be a whore who got told by Vogelbaum that if she didn't raise the kid, he would turn into a psycho and that Vought would kill her family if she tried to leave. I'm guessing the Boys, or at least Butcher, will try to fuck with the boy's head and manipulate him to kill Homelander.
