It's just boring. There's no real overarching story. Frank achieved his goal at the end of season 2 and the writers didn't seem to know how to make what followed interesting. It took until season 4 for them to kind of figure it out.

First two seasons were great, third, fourth and fifth seasons were good (though pussy riot acting in the show was a bit distasteful and out of character). One of my favorite scenes from the latter seasons was Frank and Conway just playing some dumb mobile game together during a heated campaign.

The final season was awful with no redeeming qualities. Should've kept Spacey on the roster.

Him going very socialist and basically abandoning the party in S3 is kinda hilarious. He doesn't ever show that he's got that kind of agenda when trying to take the presidency. Okay idea in concept (getting the throne and going against all the people who got you there), but the execution is just off, no build up/justification, he's now a do-gooder psychopath.
