Roger Ebert gave a glowing review of Terminator: Salvation, only to redact it after he got roasted by public outrage. He offered a small apology stating that he had been reading a magazine article at the same time as viewing the film ... as if that is acceptable from a renowned critic that was getting paid for/earning a living from his review of the film.

The original review and apology are no longer online, I seriously regret not screencapping it.

He later posted a more accurate 'review' citing many of the film's obvious flaws.

That's not something to be proud of but i can understand why he did it.
I don't value the untouchable contrarian rigidity of Armond more. The point of a review is to write about how the movie make you feel so people who like you can decide to see it or not. It's not an exercise in college level social critique that only serves self-masturbation purposes.

Armond is so contrarian I can see him ripping apart Tucker Carson for minimizing real struggles black people face due to racism. Armond's main complaint about black filmmakers is that Armond thinks their movies criticize racism only in ways that are sanctioned by white liberals and deliberately veer away from really uncomfortable parts of the "being black in America" experience. He does believe that black people are being unfairly discriminated against, and Tucker Carson is someone who has been pushing the false narrative that blacks weren't getting shot or jailed for little to no reason by the police before 2010.

Looking through his history, he gave a fresh review to Dirty Grandpa and Batman vs Superman, and a rotten one to La La Land and Moonlight, as well as every Marvel movie he's reviewed.

Additionally, just about every somewhat major review he does, he somehow manages to bring up politics.

For instance:
The Accountant: "In The Accountant, blatancy overtakes sincerity...absurdly convoluted, this film stays blatantly politically correct."

It seems as if there is even the faintest glimpse of liberal ideas in a movie, he poorly reviews it (not totally across the board, he did positively review Hidden Figures). Over half of his Fences review was analyzing the conservative elements.

Also, I feel like it needs to be said that he praised Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for its visual style and panned Toy Story 3 for celebrating commercialism.

I just can't take this guy seriously, and it shocks me that Rotten Tomatoes let him come back after being kicked off the site for a while. IIRC Rotten Tomatoes let him go because he gave the universally derided Jack & Jill a unbelievably good review, and then proceeded to shit on anybody who disagreed with him. Why did RT let him back? The man clearly doesn't judge a movie by its merits. I've read several of his reviews that make me think he didn't actually watch the movie.
If the man is simply a troll, acting like a dick to earn notoriety and internet points, then his reviews shouldn't be taken seriously by the people who run Rotten Tomatoes.
