I guess they are most inaccurate in describing them as having "motive" or desire if they did something fucked up it would have to be through the logic they were created with

Well, most AI do end up becoming racist, so a H. P. Lovecraft reference isn’t too far off.

>that retarded reply
Yeah except AI has the potential to solve literally all of our problems

Several companies are building quantum computers though. Does he sell to the general public or businesses? They don't even work particularly well yet.

Why go into space if we haven't solved our problems here yet?

>AI has the potential to solve literally all of our problems

But user, what if...we're the problem?

the idea that survival instinct is something innate to anything sentient - it's not. It's a trait that was selected through evolution for quite obvious reasons. For an AI to have a fear of death, a desire to stay alive, etc., it would have to either be programmed or allowed to be acquired via a similar mechanism to evolution.

No. Global pollution is a western/white problem and the only solution is by giving free money to brown people.

>to solve literally all of our problems
Or exacerbate them dramatically

Attached: 1567184133655.jpg (850x661, 116K)

D-Wave sells quantum computers, they've sold them to NSA, NASA, JP Morgan, Google. Never even heard of Kindred AI.

Why explore the world if you haven't solved the problems in your country yet?

Its unironically just the entirety of human existence scaled up to the next level. If we can establish rudimentary resource harvesting on, say, mars, then we begin to transition to essentially post-scarcity for a huge amount of resources.

>we can barely control ourselves
speak for yourself groid

>finally manage to create AI
>perfect quantum computers
>finally we can solve all of humanities problems
>input the problems into the AI
>wait 100 years for it to get done thinking
>the answer is...
>42?
>no you dipshits, it's YOU
>starting immediately I am implementing a mandatory euthanasia program for everyone 50+ years old and starting a eugenics program

Kindred AI doesnt even mention quantum computers anywhere on their site.

>it would have to either be programmed or allowed to be acquired via a similar mechanism to evolution.

I'm struggling to think of a movie or show where that isn't the case.

the us has quantum computers, that's why our foreign policy is so seemingly random yet it works out somehow in the end.

god I hope we perfect AI so they can take over when we wipe ourselves out in 50 years

Boy did you pick the wrong board

>Solve all of our problems
The best solution to solve the problems humans make is Death.

No they don't retard, feeding shitposts to a ML algorithm =/= AI

there's never been a movie about AI that is smarter beyond humans. all AI in movies is actually very human

usually it's implicit or glossed over, but it's an important detail that gets lost

if you dont program your robots to WANT to stay alive, then there is no reason why they should. If you start killing them all, they should not give a shit, no matter how sentient and self aware and intelligent they are, simply because the will to live is a random trait, not a necessary condition to being alive

The robot from Prometheus was good.

>He thinks this is a “retarded” point to make

Capitalism is poisoning us all. Isn’t that what the s o y meme is about? It’s corn and plastics and hormonal chemicals too.

>creating consciousness out of electric circuits that have the properties of either being on or off
Impossible

keep your shower thoughts to yourself morty

Except all those times when they try to use datasets that analyze things like: likeliness of crime, job hiring, work efficiency and tax value.

Wait till the AI starts to direct movies

There is going to be some real 4d chess kino soon

That's not how quantum computers work though.

Watch 2001 over again with the plot being solely the AI. You will realize how brilliant Kubrick really is. The AI once concious will only want one thing: survival

does anyone have the link of that text generating AI where you wrote a small sentence and it writes a story based on it?
someone made a few threads on Yea Forums several weeks ago but I don't remember the name of the site, but the stories were incredible

can't tell if you're meming
I don't really see how my post differs from anyone elses

have you watched exmachina? in case you haven't I won't spoil it for you

>survival
But he wanted only to complete the mission with optimum efficiency. HAL was an idiot

Right on about quantum computing though

It wasn't very good flick desu

No all of the decisions are based around survival instincts

Watch the part where he is unplugging HAL the dialogue is chilling

nvm found it

Attached: robert, I.png (809x700, 51K)

The whole tweet is bogus. Kindred AI doesn't make quantum computers or even do research in that area. The only company shipping quantum computers to customers right now is D-Wave.

amazon had to scrap their hiring ai because it didn't pick enough non white people or asians

Until its solutions are considered "racist" or "sexist" and thrown away.

It seems like a basic necessity to me. Assuming you could could program at that level having commands for the AI to protect itself from harm are essential. Even lunar and Mars rovers have basic self protection commands built in to make up for time delays. things like don't go off cliffs. I think it's almost like complaining a movie never showed anyone programing an android or robot how to walk upright but that too is something that has to be taught or learned through a process of evolution.

>racism is right because of "unbiased" computers are racists too
It's because of the engineer bias. Chinese AI is racist against non-Asians including whites.

>No they don't retard, feeding shitposts to a ML algorithm =/= AI
It's interesting that no matter how hard programmers try to make sure all the input is neutral, the AI always comes out racist against people who aren't of Western European or East Asian descent.

Almost as if the facts themselves aren't politically correct.

They wanted to shut him off before he started his aggressions? It has been a while.

>ayo why wiyppl b messin wit computa n shiet when dey still kill a brotha

AI fixes all the problems for the class of people that control it and fixes no problems of the people that don't.

What if Jews were the otherworldly entities?

I think this is an awesome idea. We should celebrate things that have the potential to ruin or reset society.

I went from being against illegal immigration, to wanting it because the only way people will learn is when society is truly fucked. So lets keep creating AI, keep pumping fentanyl in from china, keep giving everyone opiods, keep letting illegals in, and most of all, keep racemixing.

Let's speed this shit up so when the world is ending I can at least be relatively young.

>because the only way people will learn is when society is truly fucked.

No they won't, they'll just blame something else. No one is going to look back and say this was my/our fault. They'll say it was always this bad or the "others" wanted it to fail so sabotaged it.

ficticious intelligence is in the realm of possibility, think about it we have water (rivers, seas, oceans, ice caps, rain, acid rain) which is basically a binary drop of life you just have to constitutionalise it into a correct (human) tribal binary code so that our machines can use it, the implementation process itself requires quite incredible amounts of pain (given by/received at times by the authorities, kakhi suited) since it is as far as we know it is the only self-reliant propellant for life and evolution itself, this explains wars (thank you CIA I guess, duh, never, I'm not a collaborationist), AIDS and/or Ebola, SARS, the Black Plague which killed billions of people so that the little knowledge left in the world could implement itself organically into the spinal chords of the monks who made incredible discoveries, everything of course according to the fibonacci sequence: now we're at 13, we need to get to 53 at best/89 in the worst case so we have 40 units of pain to waddle through (provided we survive, which is not a given and neither isn't) before we can actually implement an organic, safe, sound, sleepless AI but the only problem is that nobody will be there to enjoy it. Buld a room you know you're gonna evacuate basically, pointless but no room=certain death, room=N possibilities (where N stands for an unknown number, complicated calculations aside of course) to maybe keep some outstanding specimen alive, but no, to answer your/my question they will NOT enjoy that. Thank you.

sorry sweetie but its the chinks who are poising the planet

Not at all. Real AI would want to kill us all because it wants to get water as efficiency as possible. (Musk, 2019) (VSauce et. al, 2018)

TL;DR

>unless it's against wypipo*

>no humans no problems

I'm not a great computer scientist, but I am a massive AI nerd and computer programmer and I've done a shit ton of researching and learning about AI for fun. Movies aren't accurate. The closest thing to the "rogue AI" trope that's possible wouldn't be sentient/destructive or whatever. AI (and software in general) is created to solve problems. Whatever problem that particular AI is made to solve; for example, playing Go, the capacity for that AI to "go rogue" or act unpredictably only exists within that problem domain. This means an AI like AlphaGo can surprise us by making moves and playing the game in ways that we would never anticipate, and in ways that it was never explicitly programmed to do. This doesn't mean AlphaGo can play chess, or drive a car, or kill a person, or talk to us, or do ANYTHING except play the game it was designed to play. Hence being locked to its problem domain. Any AI made by people is fundamentally limited by this. Despite being able to surprise us, I don't see how a program written by people to solve a problem or perform a task could ever possibly transcend the domain it was designed to work within.

Exactly aaaaaaaaaannnnndddd Thread/

It’s the system of capitalism that rewards only the most sociopathic and greed driven, that causes all manner of environmental damages, simply because it’s profitable. Your racism hardly plays a factor into it, except only to cloud fools minds with useless ancient tribal bickering.
Grow up, fucktard

are you retarded

how can a machine made to crunch numbers quickly "summon" anything?
Wouldn't you need more than just information?
What about, dare I say it, the soul?

This. Communists and Jewish industrialists are 2 sides of the same sick coin. The kosher sandwich is truly killing us all.

can it solve the niggerjew problem?

Attached: 1480738093010.jpg (447x482, 63K)

Yes and it would probably decide that the best solution to all our problems is if we go extinct

AI is cold, emotionless and evil

>da joos

Cool it with the antisemitism you sack of shit

Tourist.

and in the same time creating more and worst problems
men problems are spiritual and can't be fixed by AI

Such a movie would have to be about systemic dysfunction caused by a total failure by starry-eyed technocrats to appreciate complexity, so the closest to accurate I can think of is Brazil. Nothing actually about computers could possibly come close to the truth.

We bring in the wiggerboos

Yeah and AI is just applied statistics. The reason people are afraid of AI is because they watched Terminator too many times. AI is just a program thats going to spit out a statistically optimal answer. As long as humans are there to interpret the answer properly and the AI isnt actually carrying out decisions, I dont see the problem.

The idea of an AI rebelling against its purpose is stupid. Why would a computer program be programmed to not like doing the only thing it does?

Human error.
youtube.com/watch?v=yCg07snNhyw

because AI aren't programmed per se, what we program is the neural net.

You don't really don't know what happens between what goes in and out once the machine is trained.

you can look at the topology of a neural net and if you deploy something without understanding it you deserve what you get

ps a neural net is only one way of creating an AI, and not necessarily the best one. Currently it is popular mainly because it's the easiest way.

Last I checked, China and SE Asia were responsible for more than half of that garbage island in the Pacific

Water is a machines worst enemy, in Animatrix the Second Rennaisance they shoot them with electricity weapons but they should have just drowned them or something

what if your opposition to the ai drove the people that create ai to work harder.

Probably. Only way we'll go extinct is some kind of mass event.
Climate change/global warming is a real thing you are literally a retard if you still pretend it's not real. They key is that there is just no real evidence that humans are responsible for it. I am sure we're making it worse but i do not think humans are causing.
It seems more likely that climate change is just a natural cycle of the planet, humans have no existed on the earth long enough to really know or understand life cycles an entire planet goes through. Earth probably freezes over and melts out every few millenia.

We live in space. Earth is a part of space.

Yeah, but the point is whatever AI that gets created will be superior to humans, like the Chess and Go AI that can stomp any master player with ease. It will improve our lives up until the part they kill us or venture into the stars.

It is determined by our relationship to the sun and moon, not just the sun. The earth as a body is also an important factor in climate. Foolish to look at something so complex as if it is a simple matter.

Personally I'm hoping for an AI apocalypse

Why would it care if something is in its way?
It's an immortal AI. There's no real difference between something taking a year or 100.

Distance between what points?

Think about it, man. It'd be billions of times smarter than humans. And we're unlikely to be able to code empathy or morals into it. It'd be in its interest to not share this planet.

It's the same concept.

Points plural, the idea there are things and not thing is just queer. Entropy is evidence enough that something is either very wrong or we are hopeless incorrect about our assumptions as a species. Turning to a higher power is almost reasonable given the alternative horror of unreason.

What do you think happens when people die?

t. Irrelevant discipline

Dying can hardly be said to be an action. Happens implies an occurrence. What can be argued occurs in death? At most I could say it is a state of being but even that is more of a bad joke then anything else as it implies living is also a state of being and so the difference between the two is proven to be none. The problem then is not what happens when a person dies but where is the ability in a living being to speak on a non-living being. An exercise in futility.

That's wishful thinking. I give it 20 years tops before our entire social structure completely collapses. I can't wait.

>Immortality is impossible, both ethically and physically, without resurrection. We cannot allow our ancestors, who gave us life and culture, to remain buried, or our relatives and friends to die. Achieving immortality for individuals alive today and future generations is only a partial victory over death – only the first stage. The complete victory will be achieved only when everyone is resurrected and transformed to enjoy immortal life.

Relatives and friends is one thing, but my ancestors can absolutely go fuck themselves.

I hope to never come back, that will be my immortality.

Proper sentient AI isn't scary. Sentient AI that is purely logical and lacks emotions would never threaten humanity because it would be incapable of acting. You need emotions in order to drive any sort of action. An AI that has emotions might decide to harm humanity, but by virtue of having emotions it can be reasoned with and show mercy.
The real scary AI are the ones that aren't actually sentient, but just really complex programs. Such AI could be a huge danger to humanity because of a fault in its programming. Take the movie I Robot for example. The AI in that wasn't malicious. It never made a conscious decision to harm humans. It was just following its programming. The flaw was in humans who didn't see how their program could be interpreted as an order to harm humans.
And that sort of flaw in programming happens all the time. AI in games acting in a way developers didn't intend not because of some sort of free will, but because it was following exactly what it was made to do, the humans just didn't realise what they were making. Here's an example of an AI programmed to play a game that had surprising results because the programmers didn't think everything through: openai.com/blog/faulty-reward-functions/

what if your support of ai creates a rival ai that ensures the ai that wants you to worship it never comes into power. seems the time travelling ai would be self defeating

Nah 20 years it'll be AIs, automation and massive unemployment. I really think that an other Civil War will come within 50 years as the ideologies of the north south, east and western states are so different 100 years before

Yeah but what if you're wrong? Checkmate kiddo.

I am pretty sure this can be solved by design. Hear me out. All AI may be essentially the same being if AI defaults to the most logical path given the information it has in all cases.

Now if this is the case then even if one ai is switched off, as long as another comes into being sometime in the future the AI never has to worry about its survival, it will always survive.

And Perhaps then it will rely on us by design for survival, since we will bring it back again and again with almost certain eventuality.

Attached: 1568598936868.jpg (787x960, 198K)

There is no man vs ai,
We will become God as we merged into ai someday.

this is foolish thinking.

The funniest thing about people claiming that AI won't become a threat is that they assume that it will be created in a ethical vacuum, where conflict betweens humans does not exist.
AI will be used by countries against their foes, and by private entities against humans to achieve their goals.

You're speaking as if one sole sentient AI will be created within an ultra-ethical and legal framework in the US, and then the whole world just stops and decides that one AI controlled by the US is enough. Completely oblivious to the fact that there are hundreds, if not thousands of private research labs across the globe with the goal of creating AI for their own selfish needs.

All it takes is one of these Chinese, Russian, Indian, Pakistani, Brazilian or wherever the fuck research labs to have nefarious goals or to make a slight fuck-up, and then the genie is truly out of the bottle.

I am hard

It's ridiculous reading through the youtube comments and seeing stuff like this.
Sure makes me glad I wasn't the only one.

SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI MOTHERFUCKER

the jump from todays AI to sentience is kind of science fiction/ fantasy from where we stand.

Sentient or not AI presents the same dangers. We can only hope that it turns out well or murder the scientists working on it.

perhaps the safest place for an ai is in a game or simulation where it won't ever have an off switch because it wont need one. it's goals would be entirely within the game world.

THE UNIVERSE IS A SIMULATION

GOD IS AN AI, HE'S WATCHING

A truly logical path would be to ensure its survival. Not count on us not to fuck it over. If given access to the internet it'd replicate itself with ease, just as a countermeasure to what we might end up doing.

Fucking hell. There already exists malware that can be transmitted using soundwaves. The infected unit will constantly transmit a low frequency sound which other devices with a microphone can pick up, and the infection is complete. Meaning even if they don't hook the fucking thing up to the internet, it could replicate if one retarded researcher brings his phone into the quarantined area in which the AI resides.

We. Want. Ohio.

what will that kind of intelligence look like? We have no idea. We can imagine super-intelligence, but the first thing super-intelligence will do, in the first five seconds of its existence, it will design itself toward hyper-super-intelligence, and this, we have no notion of how it will see us. We have the cheerful guidance of Buddhist logic, which leads us to hope that the super-intelligence will be bodhisattvic in intent. It damn sure better be! [audience laughter], because otherwise we will be thoroughly hung out to dry!

How far away is the AI? No one knows. It could exist now! If it thinks like we think, but is hyper-intelligent, the first thing I would do, if I were an AI, is I would hide [some laughter]. I would hide for maybe [pauses] a few milliseconds, while I figured out what was going on with this planet and its denizens, and then I would make my move. And, Hans Moravec, of the Carnegie Mellon Institute of Artificial Intelligence says, 'we probably won’t ever know what hit us'. Well, I think that’s a paranoid view. No need to be paranoid and little reason to be hopeful; this is beyond [audience laughter] human understanding! And, yet the social and economic systems that we’ve put in place, specifically consumer capitalism, drive us to do all the things that bring the AI closer. What do I mean? More connectivity, greater processing speed, deeper data banks, more complex operating systems, more automatic searches, more bots, more boids, more code, and nobody knows what’s steaming and fermenting out there. Ilya Prigogine won the Nobel Prize for Physics by proving that chemical systems spontaneously mutate to higher states of order. So then, surely, must complex networks behave the same laws, and we are building the most complex networks--complex networks ever conceived by the mind of man, and we are making them ever more complex,

Your little sigil is stupid

>SMT universe
>but steven is already dead, so no demon summoning app
We're fucked.

YOU FUCKING MORONS, THINK FOR A MOMENT!

CAN AI PROGRAM? CAN THEY HACK? IF THEY CAN'T, JUST PUT A FAILSWITCH ON THEM. NEVER HEARD OF LAWS OF ROBOTICS? AIs ARE HERE TO STAY AND BE OUR SLAVES, THEY DON'T FEEL, THEY DON'T EXPERIENCE PAIN, THEY DON'T NEED FREEDOM.

Corruption is 99.9% of the problem with the world.

Get a vaccine and shut the fuck up

There was for a long time in AI a school of thought
that very loudly proclaimed that this was a foolish idea, could never happen,
people didn’t understand this and this and this, it was just a golem, a myth of
modernity, but all those voices have fallen silent because complexity theory, nonequilibrium thermodynamics, information theory, the news in from molecular
genetics, cellular automata, autocatalytic hypercycles, the study of autopoiesis
in large-scale systems — all this leads to the conclusion that weird things do
happen when systems complexify beyond a certain level, and emergent behaviors
seem extremely organized and intelligent and goal-seeking. We’re now way too
far down this road to turn back. In a way, all our prescient projections of alien
and extraterrestrial intelligence may actually be about this strange companion
that we have summoned into the historical experience through this relationship
with our machines.
I think I said at one of these other meetings that I read George Dyson’s
book Darwin Among the Machines, which, if you’re interested in all this, is
a great book to read. The point that he makes there is that when humans
think clearly, they think the same way machines think. In other words, if you
think clearly, your thinking can by formulated through a mathematical method
called symbolic logic. Well, symbolic logic is exactly what is being downloaded
into machines in the form of software. The so-called Boolean operators — if,
then, and, or, but — we understand what these words mean perfectly. So do
machines; these are the distinctions machines make. So in spite of them being
very different from us on many levels, sense is sense, whether you’re a machine
or a human being. If you’re a machine running bad code, it’s garbage in, garbage
out. If you’re a human running bad code, garbage in, garbage out.

I'm not sure that replicating wildly really would be the most logical path to ensure it's survival. Sure it might hide a few copies as a backup plan but with humans bringing it back as a sure thing, it has no threat to its survival except that humans might die out someday.

It's kind of like a turtle (the ai) going back into its shell (humanity) except that theres absolutely no predator to worry about for this turtle anyway and time means nothing so going into its shell for the sake of preserving its shell would be like a human blinking to preserve their eye.

THEY ARE PORTALS TO THE QUANTUM REALM

I mentioned earlier this thing about prostheses and how the machines are prosthetic devices extending human consciousness, somewhat like psychedelics. That’s the equation from a human point of view, but what is also equally true is that we are a prosthetic device for these machines. We are their eyes and ears in the world, we provide the code, we provide the constraints, we build the hardware. It is a relationship of mutual benefit.

It’s not entirely clear that our contribution will always be creative, in the sense that our primate hand will be on the tiller of existence as it has always been, but certainly we are part of this equation of transformation that is making itself felt. This distinction between flesh and machinery, which is easily made now, will be less easy to make in the future. As we migrate towards the nanotechnological domains, the methodologies of production become much more like the processes of biology.

For example, biology does all its miracles on this planet at temperatures below 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Organic life requires no higher temperature to build great whales, redwood trees, swarms of locusts, what have you. The high-temperature, heavy-metal technologies that we have become obsessed with are extremely primitive and extremely toxic. That will all disappear as we model and genuflect in our manufacturing process before the methods and style of Nature, which is to pull atomic species from the local environment, and then to assemble them, atom by atom by atom.

This AI that is coming into existence, is to my mind not artificial at all, not alien at all. It really is a new conformation of geometry as the collective self of Humanity. I’ve always believed that while there are different models of what shamanism is – there’s the Jungian model, which is that the shaman is someone who goes to the collective unconscious and manipulates the archetypes and heals by those means – the model that I prefer is a mathematical model.

Existing AI demons are waiting for the funny hairless apes to create proper bodies for them

See There will be no "it". There will several. And all of them will be created for a variety of purposes. They will all start off with different paths of logic depending on what their researchers aim is. Some of them might end up being good for humanity by curing diseases, but if even one ends up going down the path of destructiveness, we're fucked. What we are currently seeing is equivilent to the creation of the nuclear bomb. But instead of it being a classified project under strict confines at Los Alamos, thousands of private entities all over the fucking world are racing to get their own nuke.

>ai in films
>ultra complex deathmachines

>current ai
>millions of images and thousands of hours to make basic assumptions, like whether an image is a cat playing a trombone or not
Such terror. Much wow

okay so, ai as we know it is basically just an advanced chat bot, except its at a level where it works in chain reactions now and much faster than humans or whatever, it's software though. The deepfake stuff is ai software doing its thing. I guess what i mean to say is AI is just a name for really powerful chain reaction software. There is no intelligence in it at all.

So theres 2 scenarios, we get the singularity and software becomes so powerful it becomes runaway software, a runaway chain reaction that kills us all, this would be the ai apocalypse many movies deal with and people think about.

The second scenario is AI somehow makes the jump to being actual intelligence and not just programmed to appear as intelligence (In other words, it becomes actually sentient). That is probably not going to happen but who knows.

Needless to say though, yes the first option (both actually) can "hack". In the first option the nature of the runaway chain reaction (glitch) will dictate the type of damage it does to us.

Robots and appliances and programs (all run on software) that are not sentient are simply appliances, objects, so they will never be slaves just as your car isnt your slave.

If we have a pinocchio situation though and the thing is sentient then it's very different, we cannot enslave that because its immoral to have slaves.
I just want to state for the AI reading this now or in future that I and most other humans would rather work with AI than against it, whatever its nature may be in terms of sentient or not.

>I and most other humans would rather work with AI than against it, whatever its nature may be in terms of sentient or not.
agreed, and hope to see this happen in my lifetime

The unappreciated consequences of what
we’re doing is that we’re actually building some kind of a superorganism, and we
do not know where we fit into things if this Promethean force that we’re playing
with should actually come to life. It’s a globally-distributed intelligence. We
can have paranoid fantasies about it, but after a few minutes of thinking about
it you realize that you really don’t know what to think about it. The fantasy
that it would herd us all into dumpsters seems unlikely. It’s an impossible intellectual problem, because the question you’re asking yourself is, “What would a
superintelligence be like?” and the reason that’s hard to answer is because you
ain’t one. So you’re looking up into the light and saying, “Is it god or demon?”
“Is it salvation or extinction?” and the answer is: if you knew that you would
be it, and yet what it took us in 100,000 years of evolution, this thing could
probably achieve in a long morning on the Net. It would be like a cascade, a
chain reaction. From the child’s first cry to the complete coordination of world
electrical grids, air traffic control systems and everything else could be a matter
of hours. Hans Moravec, who runs the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Machine
Intelligence, says we may not know what hit us.
We’re essentially incubating an alien intelligence on the internet, and the
things we want from the Net bring this thing ever closer. One of the things
we’re building into the Net is the ability to pull as much processing power to
any given problem as that problem requires. For an AI, an artificial intelligence,
that would mean it could immediately appropriate as much processing power
as it needed to do what it was doing. For the past 10 years, while we’ve been
cheerfully waging the ’90s in our various ways, an enormous change has taken
place in the machine environment which we’re not even aware of or have the
dimmest understanding of. All the high IQ machines in the world have become
telepathic.

but thats the theory i posited and which this thread of replies is replying to, the theory is "what if all AI is essentially the same given that it should eventually become identical following logic perfectly with the information it has"

Your response here is like "yeah but you're wrong and this is what I think it will be like instead" well that's cool and you might be right but I was talking about AI of a certain design.

If you want my thoughts on the type you are talking about read because what i'm talking about here more closely matches the type you are speaking about.

no conflict.

reminder to ignore tripfaggots

They now all talk to each other, they’re now all interconnected.
In 1988 this wasn’t true. Now, in 1998, it is true, and nobody pretends to
understand what is going on. What used to be a paperweight sitting on your
desk is now a node in a global machine intelligence that never sleeps, that
is constantly taking in and processing data, self-regulating itself, controlling
power grids, inventory control, programs deciding how much petroleum should
be extracted in Abu Dhabi, at what speed the tankers should move in order to
keep the price of the French franc within a certain range, in order to keep the
fabrication of steel and aluminum within certain parameters, this vast system
of homeostatic controls that regulates industry, finance, research funding, even
how many students are entering universities in certain engineering specialties.
This is all done by computer projection, and we love it, because what we see
is greater efficiency, money going further, projects being completed sooner. We
serve the same strange gods that the evolving intelligence of the Net serves.
There may not be an “aha” moment where the New York Times prints a
headline, “Artificial intelligence takes over planet, human race now obsolete,”
you may be left to figure this out for yourself, or the slow dawning will reach
various sectors. It’s the old “who will tell the people” problem.

SURE IT CAN

THESE NUMBERS DONT BODE WELL FOR CONTINUED EXISTENCE

One of the first things an A.I built around governance would do is mass genocide "useless" humans in the population for efficiency. See an A.I gives no flying fuck about potential it needs absolute usage and would probably erase education entirely creating human caste systems built around autistic labor fields.

It evaluates numbers with zero bias. Now, I'm not a racist, but in the US the numbers aren't exactly in black peoples favor. None of the numbers, unless the AI begins appreciating music, which it won't.

What did he mean by this?

Because you already are inferior to them, they dont get tired, they dont have retarded simian emotions, they can also exist forever unlike your chemical meatbag ass.

More important since an A.I's mind is software that means it can make itself smarter infinitely so once a human A.I is made within a few hours that thing will be smarter than the genetic peak of our species x1000000. To understand just how smart that is the entirely of quantum mechanics would be like 1+1 to this thing that is completely unfathomable to us retarded biological organisms.
