I don’t think they are. They’re were a lot of really nice LOTR threads in 2012 when the Hobbit movies were starting to come out. Pretty much universally praised and a lot of fun memes. Makes me miss that era of Yea Forums. The only thing in recent memory that gave me that feeling was the Twin Peaks generals two years ago.
