I'm going to say something you maybe find controversial or stupid or whatever, but I find this statement to be a meme. At least narrowing down to the modern age, gameplay is always poor. Every single season is a cast of 2-3 competent game players with a cast full of idiots and semi-idiots.
I don't watch the show for "great" gameplay, I watch it for gameplay. Sloppy, reactionary, however it is, I watch the gameplay unfold, which causes drama and fun to unfold, and it's all entertaining to me. I don't need your Machiavellian moves every week. But even then, we got some magnificent strokes of genius this past week with Jackson using what he overheard to craft the perfect lie, and use that in combination with his acting/social skills to make what he wanted to happen, happen. Like what Christie did several times throughout the season too - manipulate people, which makes her a solid gameplayer.

tl;dr I don't know what you're talking about and this season has been completely average in terms of "gameplay", decent in terms of drama, and above average in terms of fluidity and storyline. But to each their own.
