Seriously? All right, here's a free one, you hacks. How I'd bring back A Nightmare on Elm Street:
>1 No backstory: do not explain anything
>2 Hide his face, only show slightly glowing eyes, don't overdo it
>3 He doesn't talk anymore. He's not truly funny and every time he spoke in the original series, he got worse; saying "bitch" every other word;etc
>4 Ditch the glove, instead play up dreamlike features, such as growing tall or grabbing you as a shadow
>5 Use lots of smoke, fog, shadows, and creative camera angles.
>6 Invent an environment free of cell phones which shatter creepiness, set in in the 1950s if you have to.

Less is more, faggots.

>t. bone chilling kinosseur

Make it a tv series, so you can develop the characters more. This also gives viewers more time to get used to an actor other than Englund playing Freddy. I'd prefer it set in the 80's but it's hard to capture that feeling again and it would probably look too artificial like Stranger Things.

I would come up with an original idea instead.
Like is decent, but it's so revisionist, why not just make it a new series entirely?

yes a kino bingwatchable Netflix masterpiece like Stranger Things with Freddy

>but it's so revisionist, why not just make it a new series entirely?
Thanks and fair enough, was just answering OP's question. I'd just make a new thing too, but if they want instant name recognition plus a reboot, the less is more route is the only way to go. Retcon the fuck out of it too. No one liked Freddy was a real hardcore child molester, no one.

>Freddy is weak after being defeated some time ago
>kids regularly take light naps together to bully him
>Freddy finds some comatose kid and gets powerful again
>wrecks havoc
Forgot the rest, but I heard it was an alternate script for NOES 5

Call it "The Elm Street Nightmare" for one. The original name was always cumbersome.

>no englund
No point.
Kill yourself.

Maybe "The Elm Nightmare" is better. Yeah. Thanks, you made a good point. I like the revised title better because it makes the viewer question even the trees.

I'd have him kill creepy pasta analogues, just to kind of ground him in todays setting and get a new youth market. Kind of like the nightmare killer that kills the other internet memes. You'd have to be subtle about it and not make it funny though - which would be impossible for hollywood.

Either that or I would go back to his original genesis about what made Wes make the movie in the first place. Some real newspaper report (he thought) he read about some guy in asia who tried to stay up forever because he thought he would die in his sleep - or something. Make it super gritty.

But lets face facts - they will basically do it like Deadpool 3. Freddy is the deadpool of slasher films.

10/10 post. Feel proud, user. That was a series of good ideas and statements.

Creepypastas are long gone. Maybe have him hunt other slashers for hell or something

No Englund no Freddy.

Pic related as Freddy

Attached: laydapipe.png (960x720, 585K)

Thanks. I try. Creepypasta isn't as big as it used to be that's for sure.. but the whole idea of the internet merging folklore and horror was never really done right... so why not Freddy. I think that generation has already kind of grown up so.. idk if it would work desu.

I feel like that could turn into Scary Movie 3 really fast. or something like that haha.

How would you accomplish the hyper-realistic blood? Do you think modern CGI is capable?

You don't. You do it old school just like Halloween 2018. Real effects or gtfo.

I feel like getting rid of his cocky, witty one liners kinda removes part of his appeal

Don't pander to snowflakes, and use the original idea of Krueger being a child rapist before he's lynched. He can be a vengeful child killer once he's in dreamland (I kinda wanna play Kirby now). Have him terrorize and kill young children not just high school kids. The audience feels zero dread when a character like Kincaid is in danger because he looks like he can at least ward of Krueger. Also, leave out the whole "female virgin survives" bullshit that Halloween got stupidly branded with (and countless slasher flicks adopted) when Laurie only survived because she was alert while babysitting not due to virtue.

>He doesn't talk anymore. He's not truly funny
I agree that he doesn't have to be a clown, but he needs to have some semblance of a personality. He doesn't have to be likeable to be scary, but he can't just be a lifeless villain like Naughton Portant (pic related). Just look at how dull JEH played the role in 2010. We don't need a Krueger like that again.

Attached: Hatred.jpg (1275x697, 67K)

The problem is they tried the gritter take with the reboot and it failed hard. I honestly didn't mind it because I'm not a huge Freddy fan, but that's the truth of it.

> Loose sequel to the 2010 film.
> Bring JEH back.
> Fix his make up.
> He is less dry then in 2010 but still FAR from the humor level of 4, 5 & Dead.
> Don't address the pedo instead of killer change to his origin.
> No Nancy.
> Completely original plot, no rehashing previous films and absolutely no bullshit about Freddy wanting to be reborn in the real world that they did fucking 2-3 times in the original movies despite there being no reason for why he would want to give up his dream powers.

Freddy has reformed himself and is no longer the killer he once was and is attempting to redeem his past meanwhile the demons that gave him his powers have given powers to others that continue killing and it's up to Freddy to recruit and train a new gang of teenaged dream warriors to combat the new nightmares.

Become the Leprechaun

Eh..maybe have him say one funny thing a movie at the end. The more ironic the better, but it'd have to be wittier than the crap he doled out in the '80s and '90s.

It failed hard because of the horrible Nancy, it having absolutely nothing new to add, the weak make up, the changes to Freddy's origin, overuse of CGI.
The grit had nothing to do with its failure.

>I agree that he doesn't have to be a clown, but he needs to have some semblance of a personality.
I feel a personality can be attained through other means. Maybe make this Freddy an animal lover for one (not THAT kind), just shake up his character. Give him a special reason why he's killing people, make him some sort of force of nature instead of a singular personality. I don't know, but I think some sort of twisted version of an environmentalist could work, minus puns of course.

You know, I've seen it (2010) more than once, but it's vague in my memory. That has to do with how boring JEH's Krueger was like I mentioned, but I also don't remember how dark or gritty it was. Christ, dude, I think I'm gonna have to watch it again to get a clear impression about it.

>First they tried burying me... but I just keep on ticking
It wasn't all bad

Start with a backstory of how Krueger came to be a child rapist. Maybe he was haunted in his own dreams and it made him insane, making him think he had to kill kids to protect their innocence or something. He’s legit insane and should have gotten help but is instead lynched by the parents. Then in the sequel to that have him come back in dreams to the kids of those parents

That's the narrative though. The studio won't do gritty - I promise you that. I saw it in the theater, it was ok. I may rewatch it this year for halloween.

>and use the original idea of Krueger being a child rapist before he's lynched
I mean, anyone could have told you he raped the kids without actually being stated in the films.
The way he licks the pictures of the kids is as sexual as it gets.

Nancy is sexy as fuck. The first one is good, haven't seen the rest, don't care.

you have seen it multiple times and you are still foggy on what happens in it. that tells you all you need to know. It's not insane like the older movies. it's not a so bad that it sticks out in your mind. it does the worse thing any movie can do. be safe and mediocre.

Make it about a cult that worships Freddy and that try to bring him back by killing people and making it seem like it was Freddy who did it. The cult is led by his daughter

What do you guys think about a Hellraiser crossover? They were planning it for FvJ

Attached: 17272772.png (348x145, 84K)

have epstein as the new freddy

BUT BEING FORGOTTEN?
AIN'T THAT A BITCH!?

The only time he said "bitch" that was truly funny.

>Bon apetite, *angrily* bitch!
I chuckled

Was that from 4 the one where he turned someone into a pizza topping?

It's where he force feeds some girl at dinner. Was actually a pretty violent death, he fed her her own innards

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think most horror movies are more entertaining for kids. I first saw ANOES when I was 7 or 8 around the time Nightmare 3 was in theaters. That shit haunted me for a long time, especially the final scene. As an adult, it's hard to feel dread or even a chill in horror movies. Notable exceptions are Hellraiser and Saw.

>I mean, anyone could have told you he raped the kids without actually being stated in the films.
I didn't pick up on this until Freddy's Dead when Freddy-mania was becoming a thing of the past.

>*blocks strike*
>*flashes razor glove*
>kung-fu THIS, bitch
idk, I liked it

He was merely trying to help a bulimic girl. A rare nicety from Krueger. Not his fault that she had an eating disorder.

how about we make new things?

I don't know if this would work for more than one movie.

You'd never see the actual deaths but you would see the gruesome aftermath. Just terribly elaborate gore like the old movies, rooms full of blood type shit, claw marks all over the body, entrails pouring out. Small town cops can't handle it. They call in the FBI they bring a profiler. The profiler circles in on this kid who is obviously suffering from sleep deprivation. He's acting weird saying weird shit is connected to the murder victims. It all points to him basically. But there's no hard evidence. They can't figure out how he's getting to them inside locked houses and in the middle of nowhere but he's there best lead. During the interrogation he cracks, spills his guts about this guy haunting his dreams and stalking and killing his friends. He tells the officers some info he gets from his dreams on the rare times he sleeps and it matches the crime scenes and that's enough for the law. I feel like I should note up to this point it's kind of like Silence of the Lambs or Red Dragon. The profiler working the case finding a pattern crossed with the kid obviously cracking more and more and acting more peculiar. But no actual murder scenes.

So the kid is put in jail and he's trying to stay up and is becoming more and more agitated. They finally force him down and give him a tranquilizer. After they put him into bed and lock the cell and begin to walk away a scream from the cell is heard. This is the first "supernatural death in the movie. The kid is ripped apart viciously. After that another murder at the school occurs days later which you also see. The investigation changes to hunt down this supernatural entity. You discover Freddy Kruger's history in the town. And it basically becomes a normal Elm Street movie after the suspects murder..

there's a new Dream Master in town and his name is Roy Burns

I enjoyed horror movies as a kid for the scares and thrills, but as an adult it's more about the atmosphere and surrealism. This is especially true for the NOES films because they try to blur the line between dreams and reality.

I think that's why Halloween is so good. The first film stands as a Film, and not just an exploitation piece.

Have a New Nightmare Freddy, an ancient being that barely speaks but his dreams are based off people’s fears but they wont be anything quippy. I don’t really know how he will be summoned as there are many ways that would be considered unoriginal so maybe some dude gets visited by the dream demons out for revenge and the vengeful spirit of Freddy uses the man as a host. Being a Freddy victim is contagious, anyone tied to a Freddy victim is cursed, especially loved ones. He haunts not only teens and children, but adults. We have this late 30’s man as a lead, who has lost everything and one night faces Freddy in a dream. I can’t think of a way the protag can beat Freddy but I like the idea of the dream demons being pissed off and dragging Freddy out of his position as a Dream Master.

The Roy-Jason mask is underrated. Also I like how Roy literally combined Myer's coveralls(jumpsuit) with the Jasonesque mask. He was a horror connoisseur.

It's gotta be freddy himself. No one's gonna like some random demon pretending to be freddy

Hire this guy from Freddy VS Jason

the look wasn't bad. His kills were also pretty decent. Pic related is a bad look

>get an ip and reboot it as something absolutely different
ask me how I know you are a chosen people

Maybe have Freddy as an onryo? Have Fred Krueger as this man who is seeking revenge on the people of Springwood and becoming more of a vengeful spirit in people’s dreams that haunts everyone.

>Pic related is a bad look
Yeah, but ironically in an above average Friday movie.

Step 1
>rip-off IT. The entire success of IT is that it's premise of kids being murdered by a fear monster is successful, is because it's the same basic premise as A Nightmare on Elm Street. That's also why the second half of IT when they're adults always falters. So, I'd take the basic core plot and just substitute Freddy for Pennywise.

Step 2
>add spooky lore. Go into the background of Freddy. In the sequels you gradually saw more and more that the film makers added, so why not start fresh and revisit some of those ideas?

Step 3
>keep Freddy's humor. Reddit will tell you to remove it, but we've already seen what that's like with the last remake correct? How did that go? Not good from what I recall. Again, Pennywise was humorous in IT(at least the Tim Curry one was), so why can't Freddy be? Can't he be somewhere inbetween the Freddy of the sequels and New Nightmare?

Step 4
>Above all else Freddy must look like Freddy and not be some unrecognizable different character, much like the remake attempted. The make-up, although more realistic did not fair so well. It made Freddy look like a melted milkdud. New Nightmare is an example of re-inventing the character and doing it right.

Freddy's the one horror villain that's suppose to be completely unsympathetic. Maybe have him feign a revenge motive or something
>Jason is a lonely incel with mommy issues
>Michael is a druid slave
>Leatherface is a retard

>X and I that low
>FVJ that high
faggot

I didn't mean to put in any order desu. X is okay, Uber Jason was only there for like 10 minutes. The people who like 1 are the same people who go "Actually, my favorite Halloween is part 3, the one without Michael Myers"

I agree with that list except while many do reflexively claim the first to be their favorite, it is underrated. Not sure why the remake got so much hate, it had decent kills, good atmosphere...not sure why it's trendy to hate it. OH well.

Maybe he doesn’t find the molestation morally wrong.

So you'd take a popular franchise and turn it into something unrecognizable and entirely unlike the source material that brought the name to fame, in an effort to make an ultimately soulless cash grab? I feel like you actually work in Hollywood.

Not bad ideas, but you need the glove, the sweater and the hat. And I do think you at least need an image of a man playing Freddy in some way. At least someone like the "man in everyone's dream". If they actually just used that picture and gave him Freddy's background it could work and be pretty creepy if done right. If they cast someone as Freddy I would hope they use an unknown. If you don't recognize the actor the character would seem more alien.

Whether something like this works or fails would be up the producers. Recent TV has had a string of horrible decisions so although this could work in theory and could be really good, it probably would not work.

The original creepiness of Freddy was that he was a gleeful torturer, sort of like Ramsay Bolton and he had total and absolute control almost like a god. It really doesn't matter what he looks like physically, as long as he has that torturous, sadistic, evil attitude. It's not about slapstick humor or bad jokes, but if they want to do it properly they should probably make him really enjoy it. The horror is that he controls everything and he is toying with you. You know he could kill you at any second but likes causing his victims extended dread. If you watch NOES1 you really get the more pure version of his character.

I think they would have to do another reboot desu and get a director who is really artsy, someone with creative dream ideas, someone like David Lynch even but maybe he would get retarded. You need someone who can think outside the box and do stuff that's gripping and terrifying.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 8K)

>Cast a typically comedic actor for Freddy
>pay a dozen people to record their dreams and nightmares under the guise of a "study" to use as inspiration
>lean heavily into the silliness of the later movies
>but also up the sadism and gore

I've reported your post for being so fucking retarded.

I feel like if some care was put into it, a tv series would work very well. Focus on good practical effect, with light cgi, decent writing, and taking the best parts of the originals without deviating too far and you could make something great, The new Dark Crystal series is proof it can be done, although that is admittedly an exception in the sea of shit we usually get.

It wouldn't have been good. Hellraiser has been absolute shit since the second movie.

Maybe use the glove sparingly,(extremely sparingly) but also ditch the shirt for something more faded at least, keep the hat too. The thing with a killer that has a favorite weapon is that too often directors make a dick out of it.

I think David Lynch would be perfect to make a NOES tv series. It could be like Twin Peaks but cranked up in terms of the horror. Lynch does some of the crazies dream-like sequences I've seen and he's pretty decent at surreal horror.

First, fuck tripfags.

Also, though, this user gets it. Combined with:
And it's a billion peso film.

Have Freddy target a group of kids in comas.

The one-liners fucking killed his appeal.

We go full Silent Hill on this bitch.

Okay, so you've got Freddy. He's an incel MAP, and that's a known quantity. We all already know that about him.

So what's the deal? Guy gets killed by angry parents and then... he's suddenly a supernatural monster-man that eats them in their dreams? Sure, but why?

I say we have the parents on the street be in on it! Set the "origin" in the mid 80's because the mid 80's are hot right now. Satanic panic was a thing in the 80's. The parents were in a satanic cult. Some secret shit and their pact with the Devil called for a sacrifice of innocence. One of them had to kill their own child, but they thought they could put one over on Satan, and coaxed the weirdo 25-year-old-stills-lives-with-his-mom down into their basement lair. So they drug their kids, LSD and shit, and lure them into the basement as well. Real mind-erasing shit, for a 6 year old. They want the incel mutant to kill the kid because none of them can bring themselves to do it; They're in too deep but can't back out now... But in the final moments, a mother or father relents. See's the glory of g_d or just decides to be a good person for once and saves their own kid but in doing so kills Fredrick Douglas. Satan SEEMS to take the incel terrorist as the sacrifice and any kid present in that basement at that time would blot out their memories because of the psychedelics as a weird dream.

So now we've got a clique of parents. It's say, 1992, and they've moved on. Still all live on the street, because who moves around that much? They've all got a dirty secret that they covered up by pinning the killing on an innocent MAP, labeled "pedophile" and their house burnt down too as is usual for Fred origins.

But now, Satan has some to seek revenge for their failure to deliver the child. He sends Fred back to take all their children. Specifically the one on the altar that night, but they've all got to go. Satan wants them all.

>Buddy cop film where Jason and Freddy hunt down teenagers
>Jason lags behind in killing and is often scolded by his mother
>Freddy makes Jason seethe every night with "harmless" pranks
>Jason kills Freddy over and over again in the real world to no avail
>Pinhead wins
Would be pretty kino

Attached: 1568338482282s.jpg (125x124, 3K)

Freddy is suffering in torment in hell for his crimes. Thr first ten to twenty minutes is him being tortured for what he has done, You get a sense of dread for Freddie when it is somehow relayed this will be the rest of his life.
Meanwhile back in our world people are beginning to have horrific dreams of strange, large, supernatural monsters. Think the Ogdru Jahad from Hellboy. Dreams begin to manifest into reality when people find the monsters are beginning to enter the world through them during dreamtime. Apparently these supernatural demigods are returning to life in the wake of the decline of faith on Earth, which had in the past kept them at bay.
I can't think of a good sequence for it but Freddie is essentially recruited by hell and heaven to use his dream powers to fight the demons. Essentially Freddie becomes and antihero.

Spicy.

Actually I just found this article on how David Lynch was probably influenced a lot by NOES: adjameson.wordpress.com/2018/01/31/how-a-nightmare-on-elm-street-influenced-twin-peaks/ he would probably be a good choice for a directory of a TV series on this.

>Freddy slays demons
>Zoomers who've never heard of him start thanking him and idolizing him
>Freddy promptly starts murdering zoomers

Use Rorshac
Base it in some liberal town on either coast
They will be a woke group of teens, so you will be rooting for Freddy regardless.
They spew out the usual leftists sjw mantras
Their nightmares consists of hypocrisies of what they stand for.
One guy who acts like he loves minorities but in his dream is terrified of them, see's a cracked door, his girlfriend is getting banged by some black dude in a durag, durag looks up at him, it's Freddy that is wearing it, and he's in black face.
What's wrong brotha afraid of big black dick?
Watch me do this, he does a mighty thrust that kills the girl in his dream, freddy's monster cock comes out of her mouth and starts chasing the guy around the house.
Regardless if this triggers lefties, they will still attend the premier for that "one scene"

>conservacucks think Freddy is on their side since he only hunts libs

Freddy is resurrected by an incel /x/phile using occult magic he found on the internet with the end goal of getting revenge on people who bully him in school.

He commands Freddy to start picking them off and he does so. As the protagonists try to uncover who's killing them as the school shuts down and security increases, authorities are baffled by the strange deaths that are occurring all over town.

The guy who brought him back starts recruiting other losers so they can get revenge and feel empowered in their cult of Freddy and they give him kill lists not realizing Freddy isn't under their control and is doing it just because he thinks it's fun.

The cops and survivors eventually trace it back to the cult, but finds them butchered from a dream sequence Freddy had that caused them to all think they where in a school shooter video game and off each other.

The film ends with Freddy being "released" and empowered for sequel bait.

So it pulled a disney/marvel studio

You know, that honestly has potential to work if done right.

Sounds good, user. I'd set up a Losers Club-style gang to research him and prepare to kill him only to get butchered easily in the sequel

This could be cool but only as like a "what if" storyline, not the main plot reboot.

Not taking the bait

I said he was in a liberal town.
Maybe a few dumb kids can try to leave the city, thinking he's bound to the area.
They end up at some alt-righter's basement out in the boonies.

id go see it

Making fun of the mentally retarded isn't very nice.

Not bait. If done somewhat like "The Fog"(original version) it could be a winner.

Well he could "fail" at the end and start terrorizing people, only to find himself in hell again with a very disappointed demon master.
>What? I gotta be me, bitch!

I never liked Nightmare on Elm Street, it was always too campy for me. I just don't really like old slashers much because they make too much of the character itself and I may be alone, but I think any time your main villain monster/slasher talks or has a closeup, you lose all momentum.

If I were to write it, it might end up with a bunch of gore, but I'd have to focus much more on the paranoia and anxiety to really drive it. But I think there have been movies that did this already so I'm not sure there's any new ground to tread there.

Horror can be tough because it's too easy to devolve into tortureporn or something, and that has very diminishing returns.

>I just don't really like old slashers much because they make too much of the character itself and I may be alone, but I think any time your main villain monster/slasher talks or has a closeup, you lose all momentum.
Only the 1980s and very early 90's can support such a beast, user, which why you're right.

>Horror can be tough because it's too easy to devolve into tortureporn or something, and that has very diminishing returns.
>If I were to write it, it might end up with a bunch of gore, but I'd have to focus much more on the paranoia and anxiety to really drive it.
^this user actually gets it.

>Only the 1980s and very early 90's can support such a beast, user, which why you're right.
Yeah this is kind of what I mean. I may be off because my history of 80s slasher films is middling, but I feel like the reason they leaned so heavily on putting their killers on screen, having them talk and act and emote and shit was because they were really proud of their makeup effects and just wanted to get as much use out of them as possible. Which makes sense because that was the new shit at the time, and they were good effects.

But now it's kind of done and we just accept that with costumes and computers you can bring anything you want to life, so we don't need to show it off. And I think if you look, there are a lot of horror writers and directors out there who embrace the stripped-down, minimal aspect because it cuts out all the bloat old slasher flicks had.

If I were to do it, it would have to be more bleak, less heroic. And you have the benefit of dreams & reality being the theme so you can really play with being an unreliable narrator to the audience.

If Freddy is a torturer, I can think of lots of ways to play that up rather than just "You fall asleep, you die in some weird way".

>If Freddy is a torturer, I can think of lots of ways to play that up rather than just "You fall asleep, you die in some weird way".
He should only communicate through scratch marks to be interpreted desu or something other than "Ha ha piggy beeeyotch hahahaha lolz".

It was a draft written by Peter Jackson for NOES 3.

That'd make him just another generic ghost villain. He should keep the jokes but tone them down like in NOES 1 and 2

And I think back in the 80s subtlety just went out the window. I blame the '70s and its lingering drug haze. Then the cokey '80s only stomped on the gas because of the WWF or something. Everything was larger than life back then, everything.

well if done retardedly, yeah pretty much a ghost, but if done right he could hit that specter/wraith sweet spot. I get you on this, I do. I do not want Freddy made into a ghost or Blair Witch, but his jokey demeanor has to go, and his mystery needs to come back.

Maybe have him do visual gags or puns with his kills?

Yes, something that may be funny, but only after it forces you to put the horrible pieces together, so to speak. Comedy is hard, and good comedic moments in horror has to be harder. Not sure what magic O'Bannon had in his pipe, but he made it work.

I'll give you this: it's ham handed enough to get funding and big press in the current environment

I wouldn't say "only", and in fact if paranoia is your goal I would probably have him speak, just not directly into the camera. You can remove the distinction between real and dream by having him speak through other people, or by playing with having him in frame similar to It Follows. It's hard to really brainstorm ideas without a central script and that would require re-designing what exactly he is and how he does what he does, and what effect you want the movie to have.

If I was writing a horror movie about dreams, I'd be sorely tempted to make the main character actually just a side character in someone else's dream, which means they just die in the end.

I don't know, I'd need to really sit down and write some stuff. When I write horror, it usually takes tons of pre-planning and laying subtle things out that sell the overall theme.

soft reboot haloween 2018 style

freddy is dead and has been for a while because nobody remembers him, kids on a message board like this talk about spkooy stuff and read up on the elm street murders. inadvertently wake freddy up who is pissed about being forgoten and can now travel outside of elm street because of the wide spread on the message board audience. Id try to keep it noes 1 level of seriousness but hollywood would never allow another supet gritty freddy because of the flop in 2010

>You can remove the distinction between real and dream by having him speak through other people
No..no no no no NO. Almost anything but that. Nothing kills the tension more than a normal character mouthing the killer's words. Just no.

>If I was writing a horror movie about dreams, I'd be sorely tempted to make the main character actually just a side character in someone else's dream
That sounds like it has promise. Don't count out nature too, as in, something in the world just made them do it or help them do it.

howbout try to make something new and not revive some shit old movie series.

the opposite of the last attempt at a reboot

I don't know if I totally agree. If your killer has the power to do anything he wants in someone's dream, and wants to torture the dreamer, then making people or things they know hurt them allows you to pull that lever without having him on screen. I think it has to be handled in a certain way, but it's not bad writing inherently.

First half is built up like a haunted spirit movie. Shadows of Freddy on the wall, him appearing in dreams in shadows with burning eyes, burnt footprints in the floor. Second half he is fully revealed, his body still smoldering from the fire, his glove glowing a red hot that sets people on fire when he slashes them. Pure animal rage in him.

So is this Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street, because I'm confused.

quips & glove are iconic, you're making another franchise without them

No, the writing can be quite sound, but I doubt anyone can pull it off in a NoES film.

I don't care, but I bet they'll hire Danny Trejo instead of Englund.
Just wait for it, I warned you.

It should essentially be a Friday the 13th film (as in parts 1-2) except with dream rules and Freddy, in a lot of ways, yes.

Maybe it's time to do a spiritual spin-off. Other than that, too much emphasis was placed on Freddy's looks, just like Jason's in FvsJ. Too many cooks in the kitchen for this old stuff.

Movie should start with a copycat pretending to be Freddy killing teenagers and then posting the urban legend of Freddy on social media, this creates a entire new generation of children that know about and fear Freddy.

Freddy is in hell but the sudden influx of fear gives him enough strength to escape.

What do you guys think so far?

>3 He doesn't talk anymore. He's not truly funny
This. Part 2 Freddy is best Freddy. He works better when he symbolizes the protagonist's personal psychological problems, and appears less than the protag.

I can't hammer it home enough how infinitely more creepy it is when the killer doesn't speak. His lack of words means much more than a good writer can put down to paper. With a mute killer, he retains some sort of force of nature vibe, something above the fray. Though they're demented, cruel murderers, we want for them to be interesting, and nothing is more interesting than never confirming one's arrogance and ignorance. Jason may be this or that, but we don't know what he's thinking or what is going on in "his world", wheres every Freddy kill is a joke in the worst taste possible (after say midway into part 2) and ends up taking the viewer out of the fantasy realm anyway. Freddy never scared anyone past 3. No one. They pushed it too far, hence Freddy's Dead that basically told the viewer: "yeah we know it's ridiculous lol Wile E. Coyote kill".

>Get Englund look, and sound alike
Hell maybe try something new and give him a slight british accent? If it doesn't work scrap it right away.

And never again EVER again remind the audience of what Freddy really was. People don't like that and it got uncomfortable in that shitty remake.

>Part 2 Freddy is best Freddy. He works better when he symbolizes the protagonist's personal psychological problems, and appears less than the protag.
Yeah too bad it's otherwise the Top Gun of Nightmare films.

Seems meta. I think Freddy needs to be more dangerous as a villain. He has godlike powers but hardly ever shows. Removing the one liners is optional

>Movie should start with a copycat pretending to be Freddy killing teenagers
Possibly if only as a device to kick off the real plot.
>and then posting the urban legend of Freddy on social media
No. No motherfucker, no. Internet stuff in le scary movies erases immersion. Fuck high technology in a horror/spookity kino, ok?

>Freddy is in hell but the sudden influx of fear gives him enough strength to escape.
>What do you guys think so far?
Change Hell to Jason's cabin where ol' Jace has been getting medieval on Fred and you got a deal.

Well Freddy gets power from people knowing about him and fear, right?

How do spread knowledge of him in today's social media and cellphone age?

Unless we just do a hard reboot all together and change every except for the name and glove.

Make a rule that electricity nixes the powah den, dude. The Internet. Makes Horror films. A JOKE. Please believe me. There are lots of creepy ways to communicate with people. Notes are inherently creepy as fuck, btw.

>Unless we just do a hard reboot all together and change every except for the name and glove.
user we need to install random.exe on it, throw it off the roof, then buy another premise for the series.

Be patient user

Let eli roth direct it

The revive is coming. And something you'll least expect.

No, no torture porn from Ultra-Kike 9000.

>Faggot Myers gets three sequels
>Based Bubba gets jack shit
>Chucky get's JOKER'D and becomes zoomer shit
>Jason is in ice

The micro-naps conceit was interesting.

How do you guys even find these images?

I would open up and expand the Elm Street universe. Like what Aliens did for Alien. I'd bring back freddy like he was in the first film more or less, but i'd expand on the 'dream world' or the astral world and other entities and horrors within it.

There is a ton of material that could be explored that was never touched on in the original films.

>i'd expand on the 'dream world' or the astral world and other entities and horrors within it.
Sounds good.

Your idea makes me think of all the situations Freddy could put someone in and being less about Freddy himself. Less is more with these series. This is not the best example. but Freddy throwing someone into the backrooms isn't too bad of an idea for a small aside.

I'd honestly make more with the reboot characters/freddy. It was serious in tone like the original first film while delving into some sick origins for kruger, and made freddy more creepy while not over the top like some bay/etc films lately.

>Ditch the glove
just make a new series then

Why can't Freddy use something else when he personally "physically" offs someone? Isn't he about the dream world? Imagine if they made another F13 film and people bitched that he wasn't using his pitchfork from his first appearance in part 2? Now, a pitchfork is a severely underused killing tools in these movies, but you get me.

Well like think of what Freddy is, and what the story is sorta barrowing from already. Its believed that your soul naturally leaves your body in your sleep and that some of your dreams are not really dreams. It's also a believed by some that when you astral project from your body, your soul has a 'cord' that connects to your sleeping body. and the great fear is a demon or some other entity will 'cut' the cord severing you from your body killing you or stealing your body. That is essentially what freddy is doing just with more .. blood ;) why not expand on that whole world.

I have heard some wild near death stories and out of body stories (and had a few my own) now add those with freddy stalking you in them aswell and that could really be something.

Photoshoop skills have come a long way, senpai.

Ten years ago memes used the same template with different texts but these days 80% of memes are OC.

I dreamed I was old.

That's the POINT of reboots...to add new concepts and ideas to old franchises and take them in a new direction.

>why not expand on that whole world.
I'm up for that. Sounds like a way to finally make the alien abduction stuff scary.

And the movie would be over in minutes....

Nah, Freddy would fuck around with the group for a while. Plus, I'd have the kids use dream powers more effectively than in Dream Warriors.

The glove is an iconic part of his look along with the hat and sweater, but the glove most of all. A lot of his kills didn't involve actually using the glove to straight up slash the victims, but there were some creative uses of it, such as snipping the puppet strings in part 3, feeding the girl her guts in part 4, and the beach scene also in 4. Plus the image and sound of the glove's razors scraping against metal is still effective I think. The people who want to constantly change things in a beloved series always end up ruining it. Call it formulaic or stale, but give people who actually still enjoy the movies something that continues the legacy rather than trying to revamp it for "modern audiences".

Why not remind them? Imo the idea freddy became a dream killer and THEN stopped killing kids seemed out of place.

If freddy has the near total power over the dream realm that won't mean much. He ain't some loser AI that can be killed with the equivalent or a false truth problem, after all.

>muh Freddy is a fashion accessory princess and you need to respect that!
No.

>l. A lot of his kills didn't involve actually using the glove to straight up slash the victims, but there were some creative uses of it, such as snipping the puppet strings in part 3
I'll grant you all that.

>Call it formulaic or stale
It is. Toss the glove in the gah-bidge.

Remember when they did the film with his daughter and they showed all those alternate gloves in the flashbacks? Why didn't he ever use any of those? That would've been fun to see.

Now you're talking, anything that gets away from those four boring slashies.
////

Turning him into a black woman.

The part in one film where he used the needle glove was also good....shame he never went much further with other alternates.

Attached: miss_krueger_freddys_girl2.jpg (508x677, 170K)

That was in intense kill. I fucking hate needles.

I honestly feel like that movie would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't trying so hard to be a remake instead of a reboot. It took away all possible tension when it kept repeating scares and kills, and the best parts of it was when it was doing new things. What a waste.

That and nancy's BF in the first film....

*an
His hat is menacing, somehow, maybe make one where the hat is alive.

Use Peter Jackson's Nightmare 6 treatment, or just hire him outright to do the movie he originally pitched.

>and nancy's BF in the first film
He's fine. He went into the Mr. Roger's dimension and made a mess with some watercolors he was doing, then he got extra clumsy and knocked his liverwurst into the void, along with his chocolate pudding desert,is all.

Unironically a good idea.

This makes me wonder how kids from the potter dimension would fare in freddy's world.

I dunno why, but this sounds suspicious dolan.

Harry Potter and the Nasty Splinters (from the sentient broomstick)
Never saw one of those, no interest. Kind of want a Potter girlfriend just so I can feel superior as an OT SW fan.

Gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Tbh I hear the books are better and a ton of stuff got cut to make the films.

Whatever they do, they must retcon Freddy into not being a literal kiddy-diddler. Have someone confront him at one point with an accusation, then have Freddy respond with an honest and earnest:"Are you OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND?!? Don't put that shit on me! So anyway, you're going to suffer blah blah.."

just randomly someone has a nighmare.

I wouldn't.

Stop rebooting/reviving series. Let them be dead.

Hatred was a game for snowflakes though, it was sold digital only which is inherently SJW and cucked

>absolutely nothing new to add
>what are micro naps
>what is the adrenaline shots and adhd pills
I don't get the hate for the remake people say its unoriginal when it added some stuff in, actually went with Freddy being a pedo, and provided a little more back story to him.
Its not like it was a complete rip off, sure some of the cgi was bad, but there is worse out there.
Its unironically my favorite in the franchsie
