team america 10? wtf
>2# 12 years a slave
>Spirited Away
>not The Tale of Princess Kaguya
>Team America: World Police
>#10
holy and totally unironically based. wtf i love The Guardian's film reviewers now
>Chaddington 2 at #69
Absolutely fucking based.
>56 Behind the Candelabra (2013)
It was trash. This list is invalid.
>No Assassination of Jesse James
>No Hard to be God
>No Love Exposure
>no Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse
>No it's such a beautiful day or World of tomorrow
>No Silence
>Get Out above Yi Yi and Tree of Life
Lmao
Based taste
>5. In the mood for love
that is surprising
this list is an actual rollercoaster
Garbage. RT is a better metric
>>no Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse
stop shilling this here everyday
I shill this every day. Not the user who poster the list. Both are absolute kinos that deserve to be shilled.
Seth McFarlane's Ted (#60) being in that list is bizarre as well as 45 Years. Fury Road should have been in the list. The list has a British bias
NO ENDGAME?!
>No master and Commander
>No Blade Runner: 2049
>No Drive
>No City of God
>No Whiplash
>No Spiderman 2
WHAT THE FUCK??
Kek. I agree with Spiderman 2. But the others are would have been in a few top 100 list, at least
>No Departed
>No Amelie
No thanks
How is Get Out on there at all? The Guardian are shit eaters.
It's a website / newspaper for normies. You wouldn't understand.
>Yea Forums disapproved inclusion: Boyhood (#3)
Let me guess. Mulholland Dr and There Will Be Blood are #1 and #2?
Mulholland Drive is only #11, you are right about #1 though
>oceans 11 better then No country for old men
>Ted and Brokeback mountian higher then then No country
Team America at 10 is pretty based tho
I agree with all of those. No Country is overrated.
>oceans 11 better then No country for old men
Um, yeah? It's easily better.
>1. There Will Be Blood
>The movie perhaps looks even stranger, starker and more unforgiving now than it did in 2007 when it first came out. But from 2016, there has been a raging Plainview in plain sight in the White House: Trump, the eccentric property billionaire and spoilt baby whose cranky tweets are as crazy as Plainview’s deranged “milkshake” pronouncement. What a spectacle Anderson and Day-Lewis create: a portrait of male belligerence and fear, a Tutankhamun of misery, walled up in his own sarcophagus of wealth and prestige

Is this list a joke? It's fucking schizophrenic. Legitimately terrible. Ted is at 60. Above NCFOM, Lost in Translation and Brokeback Mountain. And what in the fuck is Team America doing at 10?
>ted is higher than Gladiator, OUATIH and NCFOM
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??
>Master and Commander
>The liberal whores who run The Guardian every understanding it...
This is a great example of how lists are the opposite of journalism.
>3rd best Coen brothers film of the 21st century at 18
>best at 86
>2nd best not even there
Sounds like The Guardian is based
They're not.
Ok now I know the guardian is a fucking joke and anything they say goes into the trash right away
No argue can that Seth Mcfarlane is prominent but his work doesn't even come close to the quality of most influential/poignant films in the century so far. Seems like The Guardian wanted to have a Mcfarlane work just because of his presence in the entertainment industry.
It’s The Guardian, why would you expect them to know absolutely anything about film? They put Moonlight and Boyhood in the Top 10 ffs
Is Mcfarlene even relevant anymore? He hasn't made a film after that atrocious Western and Family Guy hasn't been relevant in years
>so many poorly acted and horribly shot diversity films making the list
I bet all the kinos that made the list was at the recommendation of 1 or 2 guys
lads Team fucking America is in the top 10 best films of the entire century according to goddamn The Guardian, better placed than Mulholland Drive or Tree of Life
literally every other film could be capeshit and they still made up for it with this
Holy fuck what is wrong with these people
>There Will Be Blood is 1st
Every single fucking time. Literally how is that movie good?
>Seth McFarlane's Ted (#60) being in that list is bizarre as well
because ted 2 is much better.
>How is Get Out on there at all?
some people don't care if director is black, you know
>Call me by your name
>hurt locker
>Tropical malady
>Love&friendship
>Paddington 2
>Mr turner
>Dogtooth
>Brokeback Mountain
>Incredibles
>ted (tho sequel really is better)
>Social network
>crouching tiger, hidden dragon
>before sunset
>volver
>dogville
>Separation
>Anomalisa
>Get out
>Borat
>team america
>moonlight
>synecdoche, new york
>hidden
>in the mood for love
>under the skin
>boihood
i'm gonna call a based on that, chief
>>No Love Exposure
Good
Great character study
...or just another excuse to overact? You be the judge.
how many of these films really illustrate the European Union relationship?
I'm also surprised that Yanks didn't make the list.
I guess you don't read The Guardian, huh?
tbf, sometimes Mark Kermode writes for the Guardian
Under the Skin is so overrated: it just pales in comparison to thematically related films like The Man Who Fell To Earth.
It's not about aliens, it's about women.
They'll have to remake it to include it among this list.
>Under the Skin #4
>Team America: World Police #10
>Spirited Away #22
>Borat #23
Kinda based, I always thought Bradshaw was a moron
but's also about outsider assimilation, in fact this is probably a bigger and more obvious theme
he gave The Captain Underpants Movie 4/5 I distinctly remember.
He also - I think - gave the Ghostbusters remake 4/5 and Endgame 5/5.
>Paddington 2
>Ted
He is a moron but occasionally he gets it right
>>>No Love Exposure
Imagine having such shit taste
Marvel fags seething. Muh Infinityendgamewar starring le ebin purple meme man didn't make the list!
Paddington 2 is a pure 10/10 movie, lad
what, you got a thing for bears?
Imagine thinking garbage made for western teens moving off of trash like battle royale and miike flicks is good or even his best
How was it made for western teens retard? Because muh Christianity?
embarrassing list desu
so many obvious admissions. i appreciate some are a bit outside the box but when so much say south american and asian in particular cinema is missing and then you have such weird choices from people like the coens and scorcese. hogg's the souvenir being so well placed again is just madness. i admire the balls of putting so recent film so high up but still...
pretty much only thing they got right is zama being in top 10
my top of this decade alone is a better list. lmaod at once upon a time in Hollywood getting the 100 slot
and hold on not only is hollywood in the 100 slot but apparently it kicked off kill Bill vol1?? and Fahrenheit 911 is on the list what a shitshow
Is it just me or spirited away doesn't hold up watching it now as an adult?
I remembered i was amazed when i watched it with my parents at the cinema.
It does, you're just the fat pig now
>No LOTR
>no turin horse
So predictable. 70% actual good movies to make the list look respectable and 30% jewish propaganda films.
what a fucking pseud list, holy shit
>3. Boyhood (2014)
On what planet does hurt locker get into every top 100 ever written about this? It's not even a good war movie.
No, it's not. It's trash.
Absolute kino film.
>when you only know one movie from that list
Borat
u dont no ted?
What experience would one have if they started working their way down this list?
yes, it is. sorry, guardian contributor
Kek
Coming of age stories often hold up well. That train scene will forever be etched in my memory.
I'm looking forward to Cineplex's theatrical re-release of Studio Ghibli's top films here in Toronto
at least half of the movies on there are worth a watch, it's the "best of 21st century" part that's a problem
>Drive number one
Yes sure, dumb autist
well, it's as shit as I expected. The perfect mix of movies for the Danning-Kruger-ridden armchair philosopher who thinks he is deep if he watches them.
alri bro can you give say a top 10 not necessarily in order that are for the non dunning-kruger-ridden armchair philosopher
How is a shitty movie like Ted in this but the Lotr trilogy isn't
I watch movies for entertainment, not to study characters, whatever that means.
lotr is problematic
lol
what list
Retard
The one the other guy replied to. I shill Turin Horse and Werckmeister Harmonies every day but he accused the other guy of shilling although i'm the one who is shilling it every day.
I can't because A. there's different types of films with different goals and you have to compare similar movies and more importantly, B, it's impossible to have seen all movies that exist, because the rate of production + amount of films already produced is more than you can manage to view in a lifetime
so you say doing a list of any sort isn't worth your time because it obviously will never be perfect or all encompassing? sounds like a silly attitude to me. list making and encouraging discussion and introducing people to new films can ONLY be a positive thing when compared to nothingness
British people all LOATHE New Zealanders secretly for some reason. I mean it.
>Quentin Tarantinos movies are so trash that there is literally only room for one and since I like the new one better than Kill Bill say hello to the new #100
motherfucking based
>British people all LOATHE New Zealanders secretly for some reason. I mean it.
never heard that at all as a british person
>Boyhood
Well the other aspect is that I dont really have a list of movies I watched, so even though I may have liked one, I may not even remember the name.
If I was a film critic or making my money by writing articles about top 100 lists, I might cough up a list of movies I liked, but that would be a few hours of work and I can't justify that rn because it serves no other purpose than so I can prove some point about me being able to make a good list, which is not necessary in order for me to feel secure in my opinion that the Guardian's list is shite and SJW participation trophy awards.
like i'm the first person to say this list is weak but your attitude while being unable to even name 10 films which you think should be in contention is a bit pathetic
Is it really just revisionism because people think the movies are racist then?
He didn't have a hand in this, the lack of 2049 proves that.
fair. so what would your 10 movies be?
zama
to the wonder
the great beauty
collossal youth
mysteries of lisbon
in the mood for love
a quiet passion
silence
the werckmeister harmonies
goodbye to language
would probably be a starting point
I've only seen one out of those and that's In the mood for love, which was okay.
From googling the others, I don't see a single one I'm spontaneously interested in watching, seems to be all pseudo-intellectual artsy-fartsy stuff
Okay, but I should be fair, since I'm bashing your list. Here's a few (and probably the only) movies I remember by name that I enjoyed since 2000 so you can shit on my taste too:
- Kingsman 1&2
- Baby Driver
- Upgrade
- Postal
- LotR movies
- Guardians of the Galaxy 1 (fuck 2)
- Bright
- Star Wars Prequels Ep 2 & 3
Again, lots of others I would probably come up with if I bothered to spend some time googling around, but that's off the top of my head.
is this satire?
this is the only time I've seen TWBB #1 on these lists (and it's right)
i believe it's the number 1 on the tspdt 21st century aggregate. i dont think it should even be in the top 10 though i'm not even sure it's his best film from this century either
no
dont believe you
holy fucking retard
Children of Men is also missing, I don't think it's a british bias
I'm looking forward to other film critics'/websites' top movie list of the century so far in the coming months.
>no first reformed
dropped
also nebraska should be higher
Absolute drivel. Here, the only contemporary list you should bother with. As odd as it sounds, I feel you can't find real cinema recs outside Yea Forums.
>the great beauty
>collossal youth
>mysteries of lisbon
>in the mood for love
>werckmeister harmonies
Holy fucking based. Also nice Malick but i prefer The Tree of Life and The New World. Zama was alright but nothing great. Silence, Quiet Passion and Goodbye to Language are quite good.
>doesn't put drive in the no1 spot
you really are a faggot. I bet you voted for Bernie sanders
Boyhood was a good film, I don't think I'd say it was one of the best of the century though
